Entering my second month of this journey, I'm already experiencing a remarkable transformation. My previous performance was, to put it mildly, subpar. I felt immense pressure, a constant burden weighing me down.

Reaching six months at Milestone Foundation feels like an extraordinary milestone. This journey has taken me from a place of isolation to a vibrant community of other men. Here, I've rediscovered the power of connection and learned vital tools for sober living and personal development. Leading creative energy initiatives, sharing the meditative aspects of art, and engaging in insightful groups like "Coffee Talk" have enriched my experience. The support and guidance, particularly from my counselor Melissa, have been invaluable. I am profoundly grateful for this opportunity to rebuild my life in such a nurturing environment.

I was the unruliest patient here both times, it was a rough start, it truly was, but I am a strong person, and I often pointed out to staff where my rights were being violated, I was able to get a TTV to go pay bills, I was blue papered but reversed it so I could do the therapeutic walks outside the unit. I am sorry to see such bad reviews, but I can understand why. There were always miscommunications, The doctors didn't always listen, but this experience helped shaped my career in mental health! This place was really able to help me when I had a break down a few years back after my dad died. Its not a bad place if you follow the rules and focus on your treatment. If you don't and act up and fight others or staff you get put in seclusion, then they get out and leave bad ratings on the hospital and staff that tried to help them .

Got my life together here some people just don’t understand life is not a choice and it’s not guaranteed If u get opportunities in life it can be a hit or miss and they offer a lot of benefits that’s most shelters don’t have and half the kids in there don’t want anything good they just want a spoon in there mouth the whole way I for one learned my first month there how people come and go and typically spend 2 years tops if They can’t find someone to stay with here and there. Overall good service food showers clothing towels basic things any human would need.

Once a man lost in opiate, meth, and sexual immorality. I never thought I would escape this cyclical pattern of incarceration illegal activity and addiction now redeemed and a Servant Leader (mentor) at a neighboring Ministry. God desires to move in your life, you just need to desire to stop living for your own selfish desires. Matthew 16:25 "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." God is the divine creator not a cosmic killjoy, he gave you your innermost desires because he wants to fulfill them, you just need to stop living for them and live for Him. On our own our once good desires become over-desires and we twist the light in them because it becomes "all about me" and there is no love in that. Start living for God and you will be amazed at what he does with your life.

I have had a wonderful experience at this place. I feel safe with the staff and clinicians. They not only provide a bed they also provide help with medication issues, groups focusing on using coping skills and meditation techniques, daily clinician visits and also home cooked dinners nightly. Individual plans are implemented and staff supports everyone with reaching their set goals. The bottom line is the entire team works in such a way as to show an act of compassion and understanding in a society that tends to minimize a person’s mental health crisis situation. It is a safe haven because it is nonjudgmental.

I went to this facility for 2 weeks and it helped me get centered and put me in contact with resources that I found myself overwhelmed with doing on my own. I’m beyond grateful for the experience this facility gave me. I’ve been to a few facilities in my life and this one was different and changed my perspective. I’m 24 and I’m in recovery and broadway crossing gave me a perspective change during a hard point in my life. The connection with peers and staff mixed with professional help and understanding was exactly what I needed. It works if you work it. Thank you broadway crossing!!!!!

I came to Skip Murphy’s on August 4, 2014 following several attempts at treatment over the course of nearly four years. Skip Murphy’s gave me a new start, and options that I had not had previously. I think that it was the combination of support, structure, fellowship and the 12 step program, as well as working with a sponsor that allowed me to focus on my sobriety. Also, I have been able to make a lot of caring and supportive friendships. I was able to finally get my life back on track at Skip’s: I now have a good job, and I’m straightening out other aspects of my life that had fallen apart during my active addiction. I am very proud to belong to this program, and do my best to represent the name as it has given so much to me. I am very grateful for this opportunity.

What can I say? Skip Murphy's has been exactly what I needed when I needed it. Here I was provided with the guidance and tools necessary to begin me upon my journey of recovery. Immediately upon admittance, I had a good vibe about this place. The staff and clients were friendly, courteous, and clearly had something working in their lives that I needed. I was shown around Portland and made to feel right at home. I was finally surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me and had a solution that they were more than eager to share with me. Unlike places I had been previously, the owner, Joe, personally met with me and helped set up a plan of action. He was much more concerned with how to help rather than if my rent was paid yet. I see so much hate being projected on the reviews here. This place honestly saved my life, This place and people are the Reason why I am off of dope. There are a few things that could change though,One of the crappiest Things Are, When you Finally Make it to the clinic,Sometimes on Saturday there is a Enormous line out the door all the way around the building. Other than that it's an amazing safe place.
Well I forgot one thing. This is my 3rd counselor which I hope they don't keep leaving.

Several years ago. I made an appointment with seacoast mental health. I was greeted by a wonderful lady named Betty. I was in a very bad way in a very bad spot in my life. I have had many problems with doctors that just didn't care and was ready to give up I pushed his poor ladies buttons as hard as I could. And I was good at it. And from that point on I will say this lady has saved my life. It has been several years and I owe my life to this one lady at seacoast mental health. I will say in a few short years my whole life has changed. As he perfected the proper medication for me I have become such a better person in life more people like me I deal with everyday problems so much better. And my life has changed 100%. She also got me a case manager. His name is Patrick. And I will say Patrick has the neck to help me deal with the other problems that appear in my everyday home life. He teaches me how to deal with problems with DHS social security problems that arise at work. And keep a proper running household. I will say without these two people I would not be able to make it in normal everyday life I thank them every day I talked to them and I appreciate everything they do for me. I’m under the care of Ellen McFarland, and after seeing an array of people since 2003, I can say that she is the best therapist I’ve ever seen. She is so realistic, talks to me instead of down, and uses my language, instead of quotes from a book. I can change the office environment at anytime. I’ve sat on the floor for an entire session and she’ll sit low as to not break eye contact. She’s absolutely wonderful, with a great sense of humor

I know that this place has its issues but doesnt every place and or everyone in the world .i personally give this place a 5 star rating because this clinic is the only reason i am not using heroin any more and the people and the support here is the only reason i was able to get clean and stay clean and sober and get my son back as well thank you !!

I cannot say enough good about Aware Recovery Care going back to February 2023. My first involvement was with their In-Home Detox team consisting of RN Jenn Aguire and nurses Tabitha and Krystal who came to my home for at least seven straight days to get me detoxed. This was critical to me as at the time I was unwilling to enter in residence detox having had a negative experience in the past. I credit them with saving my life. Their kind and compassionate care showed me that there was indeed some hope for me going forward. Following detox Aware counselors Sam Hayes and Amber Gelinas continued home visits working very closely with me in keeping me on the road to sobriety. I also received monthly assessments by an RN and a session with a Psychiatrist. After six months my insurance lapsed but thankfully I was eligible to enter their Alumni Program consisting of multiple Zoom meetings during the week with Aware professionals. In addition they also host various events in different locations with other Alumni of the program. You always feel that Aware is right there with you every step of the way. I could carry on much longer but let me finish by saying that I consider the Aware professionals I have dealt with to be more than just counselors but as friends as well. I am welcome back in the lives of my children and most importantly my Grandchildren. On November 24 I will be collecting my Nine Month sobriety chip at my AA Home Group. I credit a great deal of my success on Aware Recovery.
