Getting help for your substance use is very personal and personalized. Everybody is gonna have different experiences. While asking for help and following through is not easy or necessarily fun, the team you work with is going to help you a lot. Sandstone helped me with the building blocks I needed to be alive today. I drank everyday for 17 years following my return from service overseas. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive to my needs as well as the others I met in residential treatment. They definitely were able to reach the root of my alcohol addiction and help put forth a plan for my continued success. I am almost 3 months sober and truly haven't felt better in my life. I believe God put these people in my path to help guide me. Thank you Sagebrush staff. If you do happen to go there, there is a program assistant that is ok at ping pong. Upon entering Dr. Tweedt’s office, I was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist, and asked to complete two short forms.
When I completed them, I handed them to a different, but equally personable young lady, with a great sense of humor. I was soon called by another quite capable and professional staff member who escorted me to my examination room. After checking my BP and oxygen level, she asked a few follow-up questions, to follow up on my last visit and told me that Dr. Tweedt would soon be in. When he entered we discussed my upcoming surgery and reminded me of two preliminary steps for me to take care of, to facilitate my upcoming procedure. As I was leaving the practice I was offered a very sweet goodbye. I enjoyed the entire appointment and plan to thank my neighbor who recommended Dr. Tweedt to me for my hernia.

This is a greatClinic. Very clean, neat and orderly. The staff is very hospitable and welcomes you with open arms. I have been coming here off and on since 2002. I was last here about a year or two ago. In the unit I was in, you can have an hour of electronics. They have pet therapy, music therapy, art therapy, etc. After the first 24 hours of being on the unit, you can go to the cafeteria. One psychiatrist that I had only prescribed an anti-anxiety medication instead of trying a different treatment. One nurse wouldn't let me go for breakfast if I didn't shower first. That was the only downside of my experience, but we were able to go outside as long as there was enough staff. I like showering at night in order to "wind down. " If you are there for more than a few days, I recommend you bring a warm blanket and your own pillow from home. They lock the rooms during the day so it will not be stolen at least not that I have ever experienced. The only thing I really dislike is that they push you to attend their religious group. I am Jewish and don't hold their beliefs. I think they should have a choice of a different group or activity during that group/time. The unit was clean, they have updated the adult units. At least the ones I have been in, a lot nicer than 2002. More freedom than before. Most doctors and social workers have a good bedside manner. Nurses, most are okay. Techs are alright.

At the time that I was forced to stay here after attempting to end my life 4 years ago, my personal experience was extremely positive and uplifting. It was exactly what I needed in my darkest times. They feed you good food, keep you occupied with different activities, give you a little of your own freedom, and in my unit, I was permitted I think 1 hour of electronics use per day. You’re allowed to have books to read. I didn’t like all the blood tests but I guess that was necessary. I was lucky to have some awesome individuals in my unit. The psychiatrist that met with me made an important diagnoses after I was able to be honest with her because she made me feel safe. This happened a while back but I’m writing the review now because I’ve been considering going back unfortunately.

This place is a place where angels work. My husband and I were desperate to get away from the addict lifestyle and needed help doing it. We were able to get into Frederick Institute extremely fast. Most places like this only do what they do because it's a job and most people who go to them only go to get high and/or don't take it seriously. The people here made us both feel human again. We felt loved. We felt cared for, and it was the first time in a long time we had people give a shit about us besides each other. We had lost everything not due to drugs but simply bad luck and needed to feel like we weren't alone in this world. Amanda at Frederick Institute was the head angel here. We will forever be grateful and she will forever have a special place in our hearts. The clients here also seem to be a special breed as they all seemed to want to be better. This place is HIGHLY recommended. We had to stop going here and start in Martinsburg as Frederick is just too far but they made the switch easy.....easier than they had to. They genuinely are amazing humans and if it were possible, we'd make the hour drive there and back to continue here. We miss and love you guys and appreciate you all!!!

Let me share my experience observing this facility after just one appointment.
I can confidently say this is the best facility you will encounter anywhere. The staff genuinely cares about patients' well-being, treating them as more than just a number.
Each step truly exceeds expectations. I called and spoke with the program director, Jason, who scheduled a flexible next-day appointment. The intake staff was efficient and polite, and Jason introduced himself and offered a beverage. Alex provided insightful counseling on support networks and even made sure patients were made aware of state-provided services most wouldn’t ever know existed. Finally, the doctor, Ed, reviews medical history, discusses comprehensive personalized plans, and makes countless inquiries to medical health—showcasing exceptional commitment to full care. Wow!!
This facility goes above and beyond, offering personalized care, in-house medication dispensing, and solutions while fostering trust. For anyone serious about recovery, it’s a perfect resource. Among a sea of positive reviews, I saw a few negative ones. Frankly, I can’t fathom how anyone could find fault with this place. Thats why I m taking the time to write this: If you need help, call them and let them handle facilitating your needs.

The owner and the counselors are wonderful, from the moment I got there I was help right away, before that I went to another recovery place like next door the MRS sand they wouldn’t help me cause of theirs rules??
