I washed upon the shore of Maryland Addiction Recovery Center with my life in utter shambles. Having gone to a dozen treatment centers in three years, hopeless and entirely broken would be a sufficient summary, but that would be an understatement. Addiction is not something I foresaw for my otherwise promising life on paper, but it reared its hideous head throughout my early 20s. The prospect of a career, college education, reunited family, sense of community, or merely happy and sober existence felt dead and gone.
As a last-ditch effort, my family and I decided a Long-Term Care facility might give me a shot at the life I always envisioned for myself. While I wasn't sold on the idea, I begrudgingly agreed to make the 250 mile drive to Maryland to embark on the unknown, terrified and uncertain. I remember thinking to myself: "If this doesn't work, I don't know what will".
Without delving into miles of details, this coming February I will celebrate 5 years sober, and I can confidently say that without the dedicated staff, patient-specific care, community-living arrangement, structured environment, vocational program, tough love, and rigorous personal accountability instilled at MARC, I do not know where I would be, or if I would be alive.

I was a former Marc patient. I was a unique case because I had a career going there unlike most.I liked how they were able to handle me and not treat me like the many other people who were not in my situation (lower class).Out of most rehabs, I believe they care about each patient more than most. I met some good people there. At the time, I was a rookie in my career and have climb the ranks since then. Our daughter is now completing the program and is in her ninth month of sobriety through these collective efforts and the perseverance of our daughter.
MARC not only cares deeply for individuals in its programs, but also family members as well—through family counseling and updates that offer great compassion, understanding and peace.

Recently I completed my IOP with Lisa Stalnaker and Katelynn Marshall. If I could leave more stars I would. I have done Kolmac before (do not judge my relapse to Kolmac's program, that is all me) and when I needed to, I came back- paying out of pocket- because the program my provider (name drop, Kaiser) did not offer the structure Kolmac does. I know I made the right choice.
Doing IOP on zoom is much different from in-person and it demands a counselor who can fully engaged the entire group, read the room, and to be able to provide feedback. It is not easy to be fully engaged on a zoom call for 3 hours for anything, much less therapy type shares, and Lisa does it while exceeding expectations. She listens, shares with the right amount of connecting in, and keeps her distance as appropriate. She has a wonderful sense of humor and a deep sense of humility and gratitude.
Katelynn has the thankless task of checking in and encouraging a plan for success. She is professional, encouraging, and does a great job of communicating.
Again, I need more stars. I would never want to deal with a bunch of "me-s" and Kolmac (Lisa and Katelynn) do it well.

CAM has by far been the best program I’ve been on. I was at another program (Cherryhill) for years & that place Hod change your whole energy. I would go in happy, come out in a horrible mood! There were a few good people there like Mrs. Hope & Nurse Michelle & a few good counselors, but at CAM, everyone has been amazing! From the beautiful woman at the front to the nurses & counselors, I am grateful for each one of them. I’ve been clean for 14 years & continue to be clean because of CAM.

I have been with Port Recovery for about a year and a half now. I've had sessions with Alana, Elaine, Courtney, Joanne, and Carol. I also had M-F 9am group sessions as well when I was on probation. I like the place enough that I've decided to stay with them after probation to keep seeing Ms. Cook as my psychiatric nurse practitioner. The welcoming environment is exactly what I need, and most likely you too. I was referred to Port Recovery from my Probation Officer. I got into trouble by wrecking my car into a ditch while sleep driving on Ambien. I couldn't remember a thing, only waking up in the hospital. So, I stopped taking extra Ambien even if I can't fall asleep back in February 2020. Now, I'm getting help at Port Recovery with my severe anxiety, depression, and PTSD issues. Best place I've been to for those issues, and being able to see all the professionals I need under one roof is perfectly convenient. Everyone is on the same page! Good luck to everyone else!!! Highly recommended!

I went to The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt experiencing severe depression, anxiety and OCD. I'd been to other facilities and had to wait in line for up to an hour or more for meds that were dolled out without any consideration for the patient. I also had psychiatrist's who would schedule virtually once a week. This was NOT the case at The Retreat. The staff there were awesome! Absolutely ALL of the staff there, especially the doctors and nursing staff, were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. It HONESTLY felt like they cared.
I literally cannot say enough great things about the OCD team, led by Jon Hershfield. They were tremendous! I met with Jon or one of his staff nearly every day I was there. Absolute pros! Thank you, guys!

I spent 4 weeks at the Retreat at Sheppard Pratt last summer. I came in with horrible panic attacks and anxiety, especially around being in cars and transportation. When I arrived, I literally couldn’t be in a car for more than 10 minutes without the help of medication.
I was ultimately diagnosed with OCD and very very lucky to be treated by Jon Hershfield and his team including Melissa Mondich. I started exposure therapy the 2nd week. My exposures were around the triggers to my panic attacks like motion sickness. We drove in circles in the car with the music on loud, and the heat up way too high, while I read from my phone. At first I was exhausted and it was tough but it is pretty amazing how quickly this produced results and I saw myself growing stronger. I had so much support and encouragement by the staff and my peers in the program. This program was very well rounded. I also had yoga sessions with Leonora, Acupuncture with Trina, and training with Terry, all of which I miss very very much.
I went into the program being scared about driving 10 minutes away to a target and left the program and went to Greece to enjoy my regularly scheduled summer vacation and did not need any anxiety medication at all. I really can not recommend this experience enough. Also a massive thank you to Dr. Amara, my psychiatrist who oversaw my whole treatment and to the nursing staff especially Susan, Kate, and Talila!

****Update: Just left the hospital earlier this evening and it went pretty much smooth with everything except for when I went to try to pick up the meds they prescribed me upon being discharged.
It ended up taking over an hour ½, maybe longer, to finally get it.
It was not supposed to take that long and it was extremely frustrating having to sit there all that time and wait but I knew the meds were really important for me to take so the wait was worth it considering their importance but still could have been a little quicker.
This does not change my rating for my overall review of Sinai.
They saved my life and for that I will be forever grateful. ****
Exceptional Care and Dedicated Staff Following Major Surgery
I have been an inpatient at this facility for over a week following a serious leg surgery. My overall experience has been excellent, largely due to the remarkable staff.
Strengths of Care:
Nursing & Support Staff: The nurses and support staff are exceptionally wonderful. They made me feel like they truly care about my health and consistently ensured my needs were met.
Medical Team: The doctors successfully navigated the serious surgery and have maintained rigorous follow-up, ensuring my recovery is on track and my pain is well-managed.
Custodial Services: The custodians work tirelessly and are often the unsung heroes; they deserve more recognition for their contribution to a clean and safe environment.
Constructive Feedback:
Response Time (Minor): There were times when there were longer-than-desired waits for necessary items, such as a bedpan. However, I recognize and respect the heavy demands on the staff and their need to prioritize the most critical patients.
I do not attribute these delays to neglect.
Food Quality: While the food is usually decent, there is room for improvement in the overall quality and consistency. Specifically, meals should be served warm reliably—not just occasionally.
In summary, I am very happy with the care from the nurses, doctors, and staff here, and I would strongly recommend this hospital for those in need of urgent or surgical attention.

I picked up produce from here. The line of cars was long, went out onto the street, down Harford Rd

I've been a client here for awhile....I just read some of the reviews left by former clients & employees... most if not all of the problems they listed either have been dealt with.... or did not occur in suite 201....now suite 101....I don't go there so I can't say... but wait times have improved significantly upstairs, I'm very happy with my current counselor, Ms Betty...and hope things stay this way.

Well- very good methadone program. You are assigned a counselor. You attend groups to help keep you sober. They do drug test with surprise drug test weekly monthly depending on how long you have been with the program and if your urine are clean. They understand relapses happen. My favorite part is if you give clean urines-see your counselor-go to groups-report to recalls- you do earn take homes. You start out coming to medmark 6 days a week. But you can earn take homes after a few months and only have to come in every 2 weeks or once a month. Best decision of my life.

I wrote a google and yelp last week about this to Safeway at WMC Drive in Westminster; they responded that someone would contact me but they never did. So, I'm upping it a notch and see hat you good folks have to say!!
Last week, late at night, I was in Safeway on WMC Drive in Westminster. A customer brought their pet dog (not a service animal) in to the store and the 2 of them strolled from aisle to aisle shopping here and there. I asked the store's on duty boss, Kris, if having a pet dog in the store was appropriate. Kris, in front of 2 of his store coworkers, looked at me like a deer in the headlights, cleared his throat a couple times (I could see the brain neurons moving at warp speed trying to come up with a response), and he uttered "well, I don't know the store policies or regulations on this, but I guess it's ok for them to have their dog in the store. I responded "so, let's assume the dog poops in aisle 3 and raises its leg and sprays the fresh organic lettuce with pee pee in the fresh veggie section, what are you going to do and wouldn't that be totally unacceptable in the store?" Kris shot back with "well, sir, I can assure you I'll clean it up!!" Kris did not instill any confidence in me and I could just imagine the dog barfing up grass next to the open grapes in the fruit section in a manner similar to the way my childhood pet reacted in our backyard many years ago.
So, Mr or Ms Health Department, is it okay if I bring my pet parrot into Safeway some night, let him fly all around the store, and watch him deposit numerous droppings everywhere, including on the fresh open-air French bread???? This might be fun, especially if Kris is working!!
