My experience there was nothing short of life-changing. The staff and clinicians gave me the tools I needed to come back home and face my problems head-on. I learned how to communicate better in my relationships and handle challenges in a healthy way. The environment was supportive, understanding, and full of people who genuinely care about your well-being.
As a firefighter, it’s hard to ask for help — but coming to the Center of Excellence was the best decision I’ve ever made. I left with hope, strength, and a new perspective on life. I’ll always be grateful for the IAFF Center of Excellence and the impact it’s had on me and my family. -Fast Eddie

Crownsville, Maryland | Located a half hour away from Baltimore in Crownsville, Maryland, Chrysalis House Crownsville offers residential treatment services to women 18 years of age older. The facility treats individuals who need help recovering from substance use disorder, mental illness, or dual diagnosis. Clients are also allowed to bring their children with them. Addic | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I will rate Chrysalis House based on when I was there and when it was being ran by different staff and Mrs Carisaa was there. Other than that I can not speak for the program after Mrs. Carissa left. When I was there it was tough but it is what i needed. I have never been to a program that actually cared and literally internally got to me dug up some buried issues and I worked on them. Mrs. MELVINA was my counselor, she was amazing. Most of the staff had went through addiction. Mrs Denise was amazzziiinnggg i never felt uncomfortable, leaving my son with them during the day. The whole staff at that time was amazing. Yes, it was very strict, but they did it in a loving way because they did not want us to die. I know countless women
That graduated the Chrysalis House and are still clean. I have ten fifteen, close lifelong friends that I had met at Chrysalis and that are still clean to this day. I have never went to a treatment that had this much success. Like I said, I cannot speak for the new staff, but it sounds like it is still a great program. While I was there and before I left, they were building on the new addition which was beautiful. It was finished before I left but was not open yet. A woman and children's program is needed and I hope that this one is ran as good as it was when I was there.I'm sure it is. I felt so safe with my children. I'll forever be grateful for Mrs. Carissa and all the staff.

I was someone who stayed here for so time almost a year. I know you can't please everyone but they did try to. Most of the residential staff was wonderful very attentive to the clients needs. The two that I felt that went beyond their job was Simone and Melissa I felt very safe and comfortable w them and they are some of the most compassionate, caring staff I have come across I truly believe they are at their job not only for a paycheck but to help. Thank you to all the residential staff. The clinical team here is beyond amazing I am actually lost for words how much the team does. They are all very passionate about their job and they make u feel welcomed and safe . I honestly believe if you are willing to chose recovery Chrysalis House will and can help 💯

From the moment I got on the phone with them, I felt like someone actually heard me . They didn’t push me or judge me—just straight up helped me figure out what I needed. The place had a super chill energy, kind of like a breath of fresh air after all the chaos I’d been through .What hit different was the way they blended structure with real understanding. It wasn’t just "do this, follow that"—they actually asked what worked for me. Big win. I got my head clear, my heart a little lighter, and finally feel like I’m not stuck anymore 🎧.

The enhancements the current leadership team - Quinn, Amber, Ashley - have made to programming, facilities, client services, and most importantly the parent support model have been first class. The work the team does is hard work; hard work is good work and I can attest they are truly the experts. The clinical and nursing leadership are the best in the business and I’ve worked with many. The Sandstone team has done some great work in developing brand new recreational spaces (the Kickback house) and experiential opportunities to supplement what has always been great clinical delivery. The full team - led by Dr Yolanda Rogers and inclusive of the chefs and facilities maintenance team - are an all star care team. Encourage parents who are in need (or even just curious to learn more about the program) to contact the admissions team who are there to help. They may also be able to connect you with others who navigated this difficult experience before from a similar perspective. out of all the rehabs i been to this the only one that worked. i’m cali sober, meaning i still smoke and drink, but i don’t do anything else anymore. the only “negative” is that the food sucked but even then we were able to have our parents bring us food. not to add i went in 2023 so i am more than positive they upgraded. all of their staff genuinely care about the patients coming in and out. if you’re considering sending your child to this facility, this is their best option, coming from an individual who spent her life in and out of hospitals and residentials. this is the best place you will ever find.

Let me share my experience observing this facility after just one appointment.
I can confidently say this is the best facility you will encounter anywhere. The staff genuinely cares about patients' well-being, treating them as more than just a number.
Each step truly exceeds expectations. I called and spoke with the program director, Jason, who scheduled a flexible next-day appointment. The intake staff was efficient and polite, and Jason introduced himself and offered a beverage. Alex provided insightful counseling on support networks and even made sure patients were made aware of state-provided services most wouldn’t ever know existed. Finally, the doctor, Ed, reviews medical history, discusses comprehensive personalized plans, and makes countless inquiries to medical health—showcasing exceptional commitment to full care. Wow!!
This facility goes above and beyond, offering personalized care, in-house medication dispensing, and solutions while fostering trust. For anyone serious about recovery, it’s a perfect resource. Among a sea of positive reviews, I saw a few negative ones. Frankly, I can’t fathom how anyone could find fault with this place. Thats why I m taking the time to write this: If you need help, call them and let them handle facilitating your needs.
They meet a wide range of needs, from urgent to non-emergency care, and are equipped to help anyone.
If my experience sounds familiar, take a moment to leave your own review and back this up. Places like this are rare, and it’s reassuring to know that help is just a phone call away.

Amazing!!! Helpful and caring!!! There’s nothing bad here nothing!! I can’t tell you how wonderful it is and refreshing!!! I have been on methadone 4 years and had to relocate back to central Pa and when I made arrangements with my old clinic at ARS, they tried to literally kill me!!! When I moved my entire life and had it all switched so I thought until!!! I get there and then they say oh your insurance is for another county do until you switch it we cannot help you!!! And left me sitting in the room alone!! Just not even care or bothering with me!!! They make ppl want to relapse why bother when you don’t care this much but I rememenrr beinf told Mechanicsburg ctc does same day so w only 32 mins left I rushed over to here and the world of diff of care, wanting to help!!! Willing to work with you as anyone knows even if you have no insurance the state of pa will pay up to 90 days back bills so they got all my paperwork and my dosing
That day and let me dose and set me up!!! I cannot tell you how as I say defeated in the other clinic defeated crying hysterically I saw my entire sobriety flash and about to be gone before my eyes!! I went from homeless, destitute, a person no one saw as worthy to a career in retail management, built myself to a respectable person agian that also helps others in recovery with at least that first step and now use my career to help give a job to those otherowise others look over!!
So thank you sooooo much Mechanicsburg CTC because of you!!! You helped this one persons world stay so much brighter!!! Thank you!!! If you need help in anyway please do yourself the biggest favor and just start here!!!
Good luck!!!

From intake through discharge, I’ve had wonderful experience with Discovery Mood and Anxiety as an adult. The Fairfax team is caring and dedicated, and throughout my time in IOP, I saw efforts to continually try to improve the patience experience. I was able to attend 3x week with my schedule and also received a financial waiver due to my specific circumstances, which made this program possible for me. I’m so grateful for the skills I’ve learned and I feel like I can fully participate in and enjoy my own life again.

I can not thank the staff at Discovery Mood and Anxiety enough for all they have done for our child. This program was instrumental in helping our child who was struggling. Everyone from the intake staff, therapists, director, etc. were wonderful to work with. I would recommend this program to anyone whose child needs the IOP/PHP level of support. I was hesitant sending my child here initially given the reviews on google, but it was the best environment for our child- supportive, caring, understanding, nonjudgmental.

Metropolitan Counseling is an incredible place and changes people's lives. Our daughter was a part of their Ascend program a while back and having a team surround, support and help her learn about herself and how to navigate life was exactly what was needed. They bring the family into it as well so that everyone learns and supports as a unit. I have recommended them to others and will continue to do so as I really believe in what they do and who they are.
