It took him almost 2 years to come forward about all the abuse him and his brother endured at the hands of their father, it was heartbreaking as their mother to know such evil was living under the same roof. I asked him many times if he wanted to see his father, his answer was always no. Now i know why his answer was always no. Great place to help kids deal with abuse and trauma. My child has been attending here and seeing the DBT therapist named Fadra for over a year now. She is an amazing therapist and the first therapist out of a few that my child actually enjoys seeing and looks forward to the sessions. I also attend New Oakland for therapy and medication and I highly recommend it over The Guidence Center. New Oakland located in Southgate is a great place for mental services. From my initial late night phone call with RN Jeanne who reassured me that I was correct in refusing to get stuck on suboxone for 7oh dependence to meeting with Laura and then all the great nursing/patient care staff (especially Pat, with RT) as well as Dr. Aharonov, this place is the real deal. I don’t think I would have been able to get off 7oh any other way. The morning after the procedure was no walk in the park (fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, insomnia); but not having to suffer thru the intense body aches and pains as well as other opiate withdrawal symptoms for 4-7 days at home was well worth the price of admission. If you can handle a bad hangover for a day plus a couple more days of diarrhea, you can handle this. They also give you meds to help ease whatever symptoms you have after. I can’t tell you how many times I had tried quitting at home unsuccessfully (even with comfort meds like gabapentin and clonidine); I knew I had to go somewhere where I could just “rip off the bandaid” and be done with the nightmare I was stuck in and flying to Michigan was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. I’m going on nearly a month now since I was there and you couldn’t pay me enough to ever touch 7oh again. I’m forever grateful for this place and the amazing staff that works there. They have each others backs, they work with patients to be flexible, and the team as a whole works with synergy. Tiffani has the talent of memorization, multi-tasking, dealing with difficult situations, plus many others all while maintaining a professional & pleasant demeanor. RN Tanya is professional, explains things clearly & thoroughly, and has a really big heart for her job! Counselor Yete gives great talks & guidance. She shows concern for us, in our journey inside & outside of the clinic. She is wonderful! And of course our lovley Dr!!! She is so professional with the best bedside manner. Their front office staff has always been extremely supportive and helpful when I need and the therapists here truly care about helping people. I have seen the negative reviews this place has received and I can assure you that it’s not accurate to the staff and therapists here. I have been here for 2 years and have improved tremendously with my mental health and loss of my mother. They have a great team on group therapists and one on one therapist that work closely with their psychiatrists to make sure the right level of care and needs are being addressed. They see I am prescribed Suboxone (have been for 5 plus years) and try to take me off of my psych meds I've been on for five years or longer.yes, one is a controlled substance but ive heard so many reasons why they won't or can't continue me on my medicine that I know works because I've been told multiple times completely different stories.it took years to find the right cocktail that works for me.only by the prescribing doctors do I ever have anything to complain about.i don't usually leave reviews for anything unless it's something I love or it's a genuine problem.i know plenty of people who are prescribed incredibly unnecessary amounts of drugs, or people with the same or similar combination I am on and don't have the problem i am having. opioid crisis I get it but not everyone taking them is abusing them.is the only way I'm going to get the same meds I've always been on by going to a shrink where I have to pay? I've seen plenty of doctors who weren't psych doctors but would still give me my psych meds with my Suboxone, yes things are different now more strict, but over the last two and a half years of trying to find a shrink to get my stuff from the right doctor , I haven't had a psych prescribe my psych meds to me In almost three years. My PCP and my Suboxone doctor help me by writing them as long as I show them I am trying to get in somewhere. So if it's perfectly fine for the doctors who really shouldn't be giving benzos scripts to me (psych meds were originally started from actual psychiatrist in the beginning) why in the EFF will absolutely no one help me?!?
