I want to be very clear—this is not a paid review and I am not an employee. Just someone speaking from real observation, not internet noise.
This team cares. And not in a surface-level, checkbox kind of way—they show up every day to do work that is emotionally heavy, complex, and often misunderstood. The individuals they serve are battling some of the toughest mental health challenges out there, and that reality doesn’t just impact them—it impacts the people walking alongside them in treatment, too.
Here’s the part some people don’t like to hear: there are three sides to every story. Yours, theirs, and the truth somewhere in the middle.
So before forming an opinion based on a shared post, a comment thread, or secondhand frustration, ask yourself—have you actually experienced this place firsthand? Or are you repeating someone else’s version of events?
If you’re going to leave a review, let it be from your own experience. Not borrowed outrage.
From what I have experienced, this is a group of people doing hard work, with real care, in a space that most wouldn’t last a day in—and that deserves more respect than it often gets.
Have your own experience—and your own opinion. Living through someone else’s doesn’t say what you think it does.

My son lived here during his high school years. He was discharged I believed the summer after his jr year but remained in a school over there where he graduated. We honestly had a great experience here. Between the staff and the family therapy sessions ect. My son was very lucky to have a relationship with one of the staff members Joe whom I give a lot of my sons achievements to. Joe helped my son get through some pretty dark times. He encouraged him and alway had an open door policy with him. My son gained so much trust and learned a lot of valuable life lessons. I’m happy to say that my son is now full time Army military police officer. He is on his first deployment. Saying I am an extremely proud of where he is is an understatement. I owe it all to the staff and program they offer. If it wasn’t for this place I honestly don’t know where my son would be at today.

I was court ordered to Nexus Gerard four or so years ago and put into the unit I believe was called "Bordeaux". I do believe this was a good place in some ways and not so good in others. I was not a problematic client as I was only there for truancy and separation anxiety. I believe it is a hard to adapt for the first week or so, and I do feel the way I was calmed down was far from ideal, as it was lights out and I was scared of being away from home, and was put in the corner of the unit with painted tiles. But I do believe at the end of the day it was good for me to do, even if I hated it at first. I remain in contact with another client who was there with me and also made friends while I was there. I wish I could meet them all again and hope they are doing better.
