I can’t say enough about how incredible The Plymouth House is. I spent 6 days in detox and 24 days in the Residential program, and the entire experience exceeded every expectation I had.
Having a full detox program with real clinicians on site was a game changer for me. The staff paid close attention to each guest’s needs, mine included, and that level of care truly made all the difference. From leadership to support staff, everyone was approachable, supportive, and fully present. They always made time when I needed it, which meant a lot during such a tough chapter of my life.
The team approach, Case Management, a Therapist, and a 12-Step resource dedicated specifically to me had a huge impact. Their focus on the Little Big Book really grounded the whole program and helped me find direction again.
The campus is beautiful, peaceful, and spacious, and the food… unbelievable. Every meal felt thoughtful and genuinely nourishing.
Today I’m 50 days sober, with a sponsor and a renewed sense of control and hope. My life is becoming manageable again thanks to The Plymouth House. I am truly grateful for what this place gave me.

It’s very hard for me to put into words the amount of appreciation i have towards the Plymouth House.Ive struggled with addiction for 30 plus years and unfortunately been in many treatment centers.It wasn’t until i arrived and went through the process here that i finally got it.The Plymouth house has a unique way of driving the message home.Its with how they expose the spiritual side of things as well as working the the 12 steps.Then you add into the mix of the faculty…From top to bottom the dedication they have with the guest is unmatchable..Its doesn’t take long to realize how much they really do care.

After the suicide of a close friend, my young adult son was really struggling. We look into several campus style treatment facility options and Canterbury was the most responsive to our inquiries. They were able to get him in quickly and delivered everything they promised. He is doing well now and credits his time in Canterbury with a lot of his success. Don't think for ONE SECOND that you're going to help the day you call, you won't. Getting into a state sanctioned program takes time and there are hoops to go through, for a reason. They give you an appointment to come back and they make sure that you have NO open scripts for opiates, paperwork, paperwork, see a doctor, see a nurse, see a counselor, and this is all at 6am. You may be going through withdrawals by the time you dose, around 1pm. YOU WILL NOT GET HELP THE DAY YOU CALL!!!!! Don't think you will. If you need help NOW, go to the hospital or try Kratom. Cap is awesome but you have to put your recovery ahead of the people and the counselors. Not gonna sugar coat this subject at all.

When I walked through the doors at Crossroads for residential treatment, I was dying—inside and out. Addiction and an eating disorder had taken everything from me. I was exhausted, hopeless, and scared. I didn’t know who I was anymore, and I didn’t believe I could be saved.
But slowly, with the unwavering support of the clinicians, psychiatrist, nurse, dietitian, and every member of the staff, something inside me began to shift. For the first time in a long time, I felt seen. I felt cared for. And I started to believe that healing was actually possible.
Residential treatment gave me what I needed most: safety, stability, and space to breathe. I was taught the foundations of DBT and CBT, and I was given healthy, practical coping skills—tools that I still carry with me every day. My 1:1 sessions with my clinician and dietitian helped me uncover pieces of myself I’d buried for years. I was met with kindness, not judgment. Compassion, not shame. And that changed everything.
When I moved into PHP, I continued learning how to live again. I started facing my trauma head-on and finally began to understand just how deeply it had shaped my relationship with substances, food, and myself. That insight was painful—but it was also freeing.
IOP supported me as I began stepping back into the world. It was scary, but I wasn’t alone. Crossroads gave me a soft place to land while I figured out how to walk through life on new, steadier legs. Even now, I continue to meet with my clinician weekly, still learning, still growing.
The truth is, Crossroads gave me more than treatment—they gave me my life back. In the year since I arrived, I’ve changed in ways I never thought were possible. I’ve discovered who I am beyond my pain. I’ve built a new identity, one that’s no longer defined by alcoholism and anorexia. For the first time in my life, I feel safe in my body and in the world.

I’ve been coming to groups for. A few years. They have changed a lot to keep up with the times. They were one of the first in the area. It use to be a lot different years ago. You wanted to get sober it may have taken weeks to get in for your initial appointment Nowadays with everything on the app/online it’s a blessing as you can be using today and be sober tomorrow. You have to do your part. I’m grateful for the program. They will work with you and your schedual. My only gripe is they don’t offer a long term option for people who are stuck on suboxone for pain management. And that the turn over rate for counselors is super high. They will work with you and do anything they can to help you as long as you’re doing your part and even help you with anything else you may need housing finding a dr, anything you just got to ask. - E . Being a minority woman I was hesitant to go to Saranac Lake. I was worried that I might be targeted and and possibly mistreated if I put myself in a community with no racial diversity. I put my fear aside and hoped that I would be safe and taken care of. However, unfortunately I experienced my worst nightmare I was discriminated against publicly humiliated and treated like a terrorist. I would caution any minority person to reconsider choosing this particular facility.

90% of the patients here are court mandated so they treat it more like a prison than a recovery center.

What they advertise in their sales pitch and website falls ridiculously short from reality.
You rarely have access to the grounds and there is no yoga, gym, arts and crafts, or one on one psychoanalysis.
They practice group shaming and force clients into family sessions where letters from their relatives are read out loud in front of random strangers.
They also force people to attend AA/NA against our Constitutional rights by rebranding them under different names; while the wording and practices remain exactly the same.
Also, don't bring any cash thinking it will be secure in their safe as they will charge you for out of pocket expenses and then remove it from your wallet without permission. After charging my insurance company 15k for 28 days of horrible treatment, just to add insult to injury, they took $10 for copays without asking.
There are some wonderful counselors, but the facility and the system are designed to fail.
They want you coming back.

Groups is AWESOME, I've been coming here for about 2 years I think. They are MORE than just a place to get your medicine and run, they are understanding and you can ALWAYS ALWAYS be honest with them. They will help you and be there for you to the best of their ability as long as you show up and participate. If you really want this, if you show that you care about your recovery, they show they care maybe more than you do!. The Group setting is a little nerve racking at first, but everyone is open and wants to listen and help, you just have to let people into your heart, its the only way ❤

This place is horrible. A friend of mine is suffering so bad from ptsd, manic depression, and anxiety and all they do is put him in groups which makes him angrier. He told them that type of therapy doesn't work for him but they still keep doing it. Rhett don't listen to your actual problems to see what will really help. They don't get that everyone is different and everybody heals differently. Horrible place to try to get better... they'll just throw you in group therapy and not care if it's not working for you.

I've been going to main behavioral health for 8 years. I've had different providers but I've always been treated with respect. I've had the best counselors and I go to groups every week at which are just phenomenal. Everybody really cares about your well-being. I completely suggest that you go here you won't be disappointed.

My daughter started at Davenport may, 2019. When my daughter first went to Davenport she was in poor health, and didn't do well in school. She also had a very hard time at home. Since she has been at Davenport, her health is great, awesome grades in school, home visits aare pleasant and follows through with counseling and she actually listens to mom and dad. She loves her counselor and equine therapy. She is also getting life skills. My daughter was a hard kid, since she's been at Davenport she's kind and caring. I would like you all know my daughter is still at Davenport and not sure when she's going home, but I trust the staff at Davenport.

I've been working with these guys for six years. I have had a total of three case managers during that time (I was only with the first one for about a month before she had to take time off for some reason, they put me with #2 and I adored her and opted not to go back to #1 when she came back). Both times my case manager put referrals in for counseling for me, I was situated with a counselor in less than a month!
I am a person who requires a TON of support, for example: I have very bad PTSD, including severe medical trauma, but I am also physically disabled and trying to navigate getting that figured out, which means I have to go to a lot of medical appointments but my PTSD makes it very hard. Both my previous CM and my new one are very willing to accompany me to appointments to make sure my PTSD symptoms don't interfere with my treatment and so that I can remember what was talked about. I also require support in nearly every other aspect of my life, and I have always been pleased with my CMs abilities to help
When CM#2 had an emergency that took them out of work, Health Affiliates had me with a new case manager in less than a week.
I also really like that I can view all of my progress notes and other documents from home using the web portal.
All of the providers I have worked with (CM and counseling) have been open minded and respectful of my "alternative" faith, and of my sexuality.

I think this organization is wonderful. I've been seeing a counselor without having to travel anywhere, and we do weekly video visits. She referred a case manager for me, and I haven't met her yet, but I feel like she is going to be the perfect fit for me and help me achieve some goals. I would highly recommend Healthcare Affiliates of Maine to anybody in need of their services. Chef's kiss 🤌

I don't know much about this organization as a whole, but they sent me one case worker who was not a good fit for me, and then asked me a lot of questions as to what kind of person I was looking for, then sent me the most wonderful, competent, knowledgeable person I could ever hope to find.
