Bridgewater, NJ | Center for Discovery Bridgewater, located in Bridgewater, New Jersey is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. At Center for Discovery Bridgewater additional levels of care offered include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I was surprised by how much I actually healed here :)
With prior experiences in treatment not being great, I had low hopes tbh, but Center for Discovery and their kind staff blew me away. They were beyond understanding and accommodating, understanding that each person's condition and treatment is individualized. There were only a handful of patients at a time, which helped with the individualized approach, which I truly believe is essential with this type of treatment. I felt comfortable and calm going in every day. The groups were led by the therapists and dietitians, which I feel made a huge difference as I actually learned a lot in each group, not only about therapy tactics but about also nutrition, too, which is huge! I am super glad I got to spend time at CFD Bridgewater, and would recommend it to anyone trying to heal from an ED. Have an open mind, and learn as much as you can.

Center for Discovery in Bridgewater is truly one of a kind. From day one, I felt supported by a team that genuinely cares about every single patient’s recovery. Sofia, the program director, has created an environment that is incredibly recovery-focused, not just for one group, but for both adolescents and adults — which is no small feat. The space she and her team have cultivated is compassionate, empowering, and deeply intentional.
The staff here are some of the most empathetic, knowledgeable, and compassionate people I’ve ever met. They understand the complexities of recovery and know exactly when to gently push you, when to support you, and how to navigate even the toughest moments. Mealtimes, which can be overwhelming, were made lighter and more approachable because the staff took the time to connect with us — asking questions, starting conversations, and making sure we never felt alone. They always met us with presence and care, whether they were redirecting behaviors, running engaging and educational groups, or just being there when we needed someone.
One of the most powerful parts of my experience was realizing that every staff member — even those not directly on my treatment team — were invested in my recovery. That meant the world to me. I was lucky to have Annie and Lesley (and Sofia toward the end of my time), and they helped me realize that I am worthy of recovery. That I deserve to take up space. That my voice matters. Their belief in me came before I could believe in myself, and that made all the difference.
They celebrate your wins, but more importantly, they stand by you in your struggles. They make you feel safe, seen, and cared for, while still challenging you to grow and take steps forward. They’re with you every step of the way, and they do everything they can to help you build a strong foundation for life after treatment.
If you’re even thinking about getting help — if you’re questioning whether you’re “sick enough” — please consider reaching out to CFD Bridgewater. This place helped me change my life. And it can help you too

Center For Diacovery is amazing. They are kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable. They are sensitive to everyone’s needs not only the patient. They taught us all so much. We are grateful and thankful for the entire staff. We especially enjoyed Family Nights where we would attend workshops with our daughter and other families in the same boat. We ended the night having a huge family dinner. CFD is family!

I came in with a positive mindset, open to any and everything they had to offer and was able to really take advantage of it all. One thing I am most grateful for is the environment and community that grew my positive energy. Everyone from my APN, Dee, my therapist, Michael who I have learned so much from. Jose, my case manager who has always went above and beyond to facilitate any other needs I had. And for Melvin who always was a leader and ready with a smile and positivity. I always felt comfortable and connected. It was always easy for everyone and myself yo be able to engage in group settings and that is a credit to the vibe and energy of each one of the therapists who ran each session. I'm writing this for the creative person who thinks rehab is gonna be all lectures and coping skills worksheets and compliance training...or new agey feel good enabling BS. (because I went through that at another place…and I’m a feisty, rebellious performer, who fell all the way to hell through my addiction.)
Moving Mountains is an adventure based program. And that's not just "fun." that’s a major part of the treatment…hiking, skiing, ropes course…Healthy risks…Movement. self Mastery. Making something…learning that I can DO things that make me feel better…They teach you how to deal with crap on the deepest levels, to get it out. So like…in my case…there is less to want to escape. Easier to stay sober. Joy…peace…fun. Stress: life. Tools
Sobriety doesn't have to be gray and grim. It can light up your brain as much as getting high did. I mean that…kinda literally. Skydiving…for real…if you do the work…it’s part of the program. At completion.
It's not a "creative arts program." BUT: creative work is an option. For me it was a key. A Big key. I had no idea how much my creative shutdown and grief were feeding my addiction…really, almost no idea.
I am a singer. And I saw people transform through singing (like me…), guitar, piano, making beats, DJing, poetry, dance, voice work...even building comedy routines. You could literally see someone's eyes and posture shift over days.
The staff are Actually client centered. At Moving mountains, that means you're treated like a human being. Not a diagnosis and not a compliance project. They help you remember want you want, connect you to your dreams again.
They don't “punish you into right thinking.” That’s still a very common approach, I’ve heard from so many people in recovery meetings.
But there are boundaries and clear expectations...because that's what actually leads to an easier, fun life. I was not the easiest client. I had to learn to be patient and respectful…not just to others. To myself.
It's also not 12 step only preaching club. Super strong recovery culture...but you're allowed to explore what works for you, (there's even a Zen teacher who comes!) The housing is for real beautiful and in beautiful communities. Not "nice for rehab." Actually nice.
It's weird to miss rehab. Like a paradox. But I do. My time at Moving Mountains has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

I went to the ER because I was experiencing extreme vertigo and wasn’t sure what was happening. I was dropped at the door and tried to walk in myself but became very dizzy. Two healthcare workers immediately saw that I wasn’t ok and quickly got me a wheelchair. I was escorted to registration and in minutes I was taken in for a EKG. The tech brought me back to waiting area but was waved over to go right to triage station. I was then brought to a curtain type room and within 10 minutes a PA was there gathering all my information as to what happened along with all my symptoms. Within minutes again a nurse came to put in IV and the phlebotomist to draw blood. About 15 minutes later I was escorted to the CT waiting area and taken very quickly to get CTs done. After that I was taken back to CT waiting area and within minutes I was taken back to a curtain room where I was greeted by Dr Pai who gave me another exam and we discussed my results. This was my very first time going to Morristown Memorial Hospital ER and I have to say I was quite impressed. My entire stay was very efficient and every person I interacted with was nothing short of competent and caring. I was transferred to several different places very efficiently and every escort was very friendly and caring. I was back in my car going home in less than 2 1/2 hours. That is truly amazing! Thank you to All of the healthcare professionals!!!

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and technicians at Morristown Medical Center who took care of me during my recent nine-day stay following bypass surgery.
Finding myself in a situation requiring heart surgery was scary, overwhelming, and painful. Entrusting your life into the hands of a medical team is a heavy thing, but nearly every single person I encountered went above and beyond to ensure I was well cared for, comfortable, and healing properly. Having stayed in hospitals before, I was struck by how hard this team works together. Despite the inherent chaos and fast pace of a major medical center—where it's easy to see how mistakes can happen—the overwhelming majority of the staff treated me with compassion, respect, and skill.
However, I feel a strong obligation to highlight one specific incident shortly after my surgery that hospital management needs to investigate immediately.
While I was in my room right after surgery, heavily medicated, semi-conscious, and extremely vulnerable, an older male technician entered alone to perform my daily EKG. Given the compromised state of patients who are fresh out of major surgery and heavily medicated, no technician should ever be left alone in a room with a semi-conscious or unconscious patient without a nurse present.
Over the remaining eight days of my stay, I had daily EKGs performed by different technicians—all of whom were polite, respectful, caring, and professional. But this particular individual's behavior and the lack of supervision surrounding him was deeply concerning. I strongly urge Morristown Medical Center’s patient relations and risk management teams to review staffing policies and look into this technician's practices. Allowing unsupervised access to vulnerable, heavily medicated patients is a major liability risk and, more importantly, a safety concern for patients.
Despite that singular, disturbing incident, I am truly grateful for the care I received at Morristown Medical Center and the dedicated medical team that helped save and rebuild my life. I hope to never find myself in this position again, but I remain immensely thankful to the many healthcare workers who cared for me with such dedication.

High focus in cranford i can honestly say this place saved my life. I had a mental breakdown and never did outpatient before. I didn't know what to expect, but immediately felt safe here. The Clinicians are a group of the most wonderful caring people. Shout to my Clinician Kaitlyn!!! They take time to get to know everyone and help them individually. Dr. Hall also listened to all my concerns and problems and got me on a medication that works best for me. I can't thank them enough!

Princeton Junction, NJ | Summit Behavioral Health is a part of the greater Summit Behavioral Health system. They have a location in Princeton Junction, New Jersey that offers substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and counseling support to adolescents, adults, and families. This facility focuses on a holistic, village-style approach to help people manage their SUD. Progra | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I can’t say enough good things about this facility/program. I did my IOP here and from day one, I felt supported, understood, and genuinely cared for. Courtney and Mika are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate—they don’t just go through the motions; they truly invest in your growth and wellbeing.
The groups were meaningful, engaging, and actually useful in real life, not just “textbook recovery.” I learned tools that helped me rebuild structure, confidence, and balance in my life. The environment felt safe, nonjudgmental, and motivating, and I always walked out feeling better than when I walked in... they even have recliner "lay down and share" chairs oh and the Coffee is top notch
This facility played a huge role in my progress, and I’m grateful for every counselor, staff member, and peer who helped me along the way. If you’re looking for an IOP that truly cares and makes a real impact, this is the place. Highly recommend.

I can’t say enough good things about Jonathan from Excel . From the moment I started working with him, he made me feel genuinely comfortable and welcomed, which is not easy when you’re dealing with something as personal as addiction. He has a way of creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can actually open up without hesitation.
Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable, and it shows in how he approaches every conversation with care and intention. He doesn’t just listen—he really understands, and he’s very mindful of your feelings and personal experiences. I felt respected and never rushed or dismissed.
Out of all the counselors I’ve worked with in drug and alcohol treatment, Jonathan has been the best by far. His professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail truly set him apart. I’m very grateful for the support he’s given me.

Phenomenal ER Experience at Overlook Medical Center
I recently had an experience at the ER at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, and I truly want to recognize the wonderful staff who took care of me.
Brian, my nurse, was absolutely phenomenal. He was incredibly caring, patient, and gentle. He listened to all of my concerns and made me feel comfortable, safe, and completely at ease during what could have been a very stressful experience. He also did my IV perfectly—I barely felt the needle! He is truly a professional and a wonderful nurse.
Before leaving, Brian introduced me to Edmond, another RN who was also extremely caring and had an excellent bedside manner. I felt very well cared for by both of them.
The doctor was also wonderful. They took the time to listen to my concerns and my needs, and I felt that I was treated with compassion and respect throughout my visit.
The only thing I noticed was that there wasn’t much room in the ER, and I did have to wait in the hallway. However, even with that, the staff continued to treat me exceptionally well and made sure I was comfortable and cared for.
Overall, my experience was phenomenal. I am extremely grateful to Brian, Edmond, the doctor, and the entire ER team for their kindness, professionalism, and compassion. ❤️
I would definitely recommend Overlook Medical Center. The ER staff was wonderful, and I truly appreciate everything they did for me!
