From the day I arrived, the clinical team treated me like a person, not a case. The therapists were skilled, compassionate, and used approaches that actually matched what I needed. The residential house was beautiful the program was structured but never rigid—there was real space for individual work, group process, and learning how to live differently. The staff created a safe, respectful environment where it felt possible to be honest. What sets this place apart for me is the aftercare. A lot of programs do a good job while you’re there and then leave you on your own. Here, the transition was thoughtful and continuous. They helped me build a realistic plan, connected me with ongoing support, and stayed available. The alumni/aftercare community has been one of the most valuable parts of my recovery—consistent check-ins, practical guidance, and people who actually understand the long game. I’m not going to pretend recovery is easy or that any facility is perfect. But the combination of solid residential treatment and genuine, ongoing aftercare made a measurable difference in my ability to stay well. I’m grateful I chose a place that didn’t just get me through the crisis but helped me build a foundation for the years after. Highly recommend if you’re looking for more than a short-term fix. Earl 3 weeks ago You belong here. Everyone I met, from counselors, to techs to other clients felt like family. I am still in touch with most of the people I was in treatment with. I wish I would've done the residential phase but I am so happy with the PHP program I actually miss it! The house was just unreal and state of the art. All organic food and holistic products. Trauma therapy, ART therapy, sound healing, yoga, AERIAL YOGA!! (you have to try that) Thai Chi, poetry, music, art and so much more. I went during the spring/summer so I got to experience the zip line! We went kayaking, to the beach, bike rides. This did NOT feel like rehab. This felt like a therapeutic vacation. I believe EVERYONE who works there is in recovery also and that makes a world of difference. The level of empathy is something I've never experienced anywhere else in my life. I went from their detox facility to their main campus then to their IOP program and into sober living. I was so fed up with myself and my way of living I was totally honest and did everything suggested to me. I have been clean ever since and now I am fully immersed in Narcotics Anonymous where I found my forever tribe. I would not be clean and I wouldn't be in NA if it wasn't for Enlightened. This place is reshaping our community in the most positive productive and peaceful way. I am proud to have been apart of this treatment program. Today, I live a life of honesty humility integrity and acceptance. I am excited to wake up every day and look for ways I can help someone else. And my experience at this clinic, as well as with the community care resources outside of the clinic, have been nothing but positive and fruitful. Have there been hiccups and issues that needed communication and action taken to remedy? Of course. But the quality of care that I have received from the team here, the Wilmington team, and the community care team has been exemplary and without criticism. I am grateful to far too many people to list here, but I can say without hesitation that each and every team member here has treated me with respect, empathy, and concern for my well being. Again, I will reiterate that each veteran's situation is unique. I am a Group 1, 100% disabled veteran with 29 years of service in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Soldier. I enjoy the benefits of this priority group. Every veteran's service is beyond a written value, but veterans that fall into other priority groups may have to deal with longer wait times for appointments, have to pay co-pays, etc. This is the nature of the system, unfortunately. But priority levels and the according actions are necessary for this system to work. These good people have historically been underfunded and overworked. They do the best that they can for all of us. As a recommendation for my fellow veterans, I implore you to file claims for your likely worsening service-connected conditions and ailments. Stay the course and hold the line. If you are denied in the process, reapply. Work with a VSO that lights a fire on your behalf. Take advantage of all available resources provided by the VA. They work with you sometimes a little strict but that's because they care and trying to show you THERE IS A WAY OUT '.... they have excellent groups, we have workers that will help you go on if you're interested reaching a plateau whether it be work, transportation, or mental help, going back to work etc. Not just a place of medication oh, it's a place of help real help and there good people once you get to know them they become your friend! And I've seen quite a few different counselor s LMAO.... though I've always been on the up-and-up not breaking any big rules. I only question is why we do not use the red syrup methadone!??.... I have stomach issues where sometimes the medicine doesn't Workwell! I prefer the red syrup I don't know if we'll ever change to that but otherwise I give John Brooks 95%! I definitely recommend this place a million percent! The people who work here really really care about their clients.. this place might not be top in luxury... And I have even heard people talk down on it because it's not new and flashy.. but this place puts so much time and energy into their clients. They truly care about helping their clients to get better ! I would rather go here or send someone I love here than anywhere else! They really work to find out your core issues, and what is causing you to use.. and then help you to figure out new coping techniques to prevent future relapse.. everyday I am so grateful for my experience here... Everything that I learned here changed me for the better! I am grateful for everyone who worked here and touched my life.. I posted back in 2023 asking for ideas on what would help me to succeed in my journey. I did choose on my own to go to rehab for 3-1/2 months , I’ve come a long way thankfully. Meetings didn’t work for me due to me not wanting all of my personal business out there. I chose instead to take this journey alone as I’ve done since childhood . Being stubborn/ resilient ,being strong willed as well as a Sagittarius , I song the song Jesus Take the wheel , and handed it up . I’m not religious but I do believe. What I will say is that even when I used I payed attention to people , places and surroundings that I knew I shouldn’t have been in . I played dumb because some thought I was. lol Far from it . What I will say , take one day at a time , remember where your addiction took you . The person on people that gave it to you aren’t your “friends”. There drug acquaintances ! Being thankful that I wasn’t out on the streets buying it , or any form of entertainment to get it. I was in a situation ship with the person whom offered it to me and I blame myself for saying yes !Yes I take accountability for my own actions .
