During our conversation it was determined that Karen s office was too far for me to travel to. She went out of her way to help me find another counselor in my area that I could speak with. She cared enough to help me. You don t find or hear of many people going out of their way to help you today. I really have to commend Ms. Kerr for her kindness and compassion. I went here June 28 2024. What a wonderful experience!! I'm coming up on a year and feel great being sober. You could not ask for a better staff. You feel like family. My counselor was Paige and she was wonderful. Then to learn that most of the staff went thru the same thing I had been going thru..alcoholism. I'm a new person and I look and feel great!
Please....if you are skeptical please don't. Take an advantage of this great program. You'll be glad you did. When it was time for me to leave it was bitter sweet!

Updated 2024 - Still grateful for ARS. The nursing & front window staff is incredible. THEY are who holds this place together & keeps it running smoothly. But since my original review, owners have taken on even MORE patients. I have gotten to a place where I only go 2 xs a month. So doesn't affect me as much as it will newer patients. But still wanted to make a note of it.I have to start out saying ARS is what you make of it. I have been on this program for many years (that is MY journey, maybe not yours) but i have YET to have ANY issues with staff abusing power. A legit 10 + years and not ONCE has anyone abused their power w me. *IF YOU* Come and do what you are SUPPOSED to. LEAVE when u are done. Stop using (u have time to adjust.) Give clean drug tests. Dont cause chaos & drama. Treat everyone how YOU like to be treated. You should NOT have any problems. *But...If you* Befriend all the slackers w no jobs doing nothing w their lives still. Chill in parking lot for an hour (or until kicked out by security.). Make BFFs w other patients that are STILL living dirty. Find yerself a boyfriend or girlfriend that is still using OR new in recovery also. Basically if you treat this place A SOCIAL EVENT/ dating app - Yes, you WILL have issues & time there WILL suck.I do agree w/ one of the posters before me...it WAS better in Sommers Point. When we moved locations they took on WAY too many patients. When I started there was a little over 200, now there is 3 TIMES PLUS that. Staff doesnt have the time they need & have WAY too much on their caseloads. Granted, Dr.Roth is a SUPERHERO. He will gonabove and beyond for you if he knows you are doing the right thing.But for a PRIVATE (aka for profit) facility, I DO expect to get what I NEED out of it. At OVER $100 a week per patient + payouts for things we accomplish (i.e. groups, sessions, ect) it would be nice to have the community feel we once had here. It was SUCH a great place when the staff wasnt overloaded. And I mean GREAT. I understand this IS FOR PROFIT clinic but it's started to get that "state funded" feel. I mean, obvi this IS a BUSINESS, but still. There has to be a line drawn somewhere. I have moved many times for work in life so have been to 5 diff clinics. State funded AND private. I picked this place BACAUSE it was privately owned.It's STILL a great place, and i am grateful for it. Don't get me wrong... but if u knew how much better it was run BEFORE the move -you'd understand.Again-Stay away from the slackers & drama queens/kings. Do what you are supposed to do. Give clean drug tests, Go to at least 1 group OR see yr councelor for alternate ways if u have a career/work days. GET A JOB or go to school & make something of yourself. I stayed here for 6 months in 2016.. this place changed my life and changed me (for the better)from the inside out. I definitely recommend this place a million percent! The people who work here really really care about their clients.. this place might not be top in luxury... And I have even heard people talk down on it because it's not new and flashy.. but this place puts so much time and energy into their clients. They truly care about helping their clients to get better ! I would rather go here or send someone I love here than anywhere else! They really work to find out your core issues, and what is causing you to use.. and then help you to figure out new coping techniques to prevent future relapse.. everyday I am so grateful for my experience here... Everything that I learned here changed me for the better! I am grateful for everyone who worked here and touched my life.. I look at how far I've come and I can honestly say that I wouldn't have been able to do it without jbrc. If you are looking for a place to help you get better... Or you care about someone who is deep in addiction and you want to see them get help... I definitely recommend sending them here! 100000% and if you are reading this review... Since they changed places and moved 2 Pleasantville it has been the best place ever! They work with you sometimes a little strict but that's because they care and trying to show you THERE IS A WAY OUT '.... they have excellent groups, we have workers that will help you go on if you're interested reaching a plateau whether it be work, transportation, or mental help, going back to work etc. Not just a place of medication oh, it's a place of help real help and there good people once you get to know them they become your friend! And I've seen quite a few different counselor s LMAO.... though I've always been on the up-and-up not breaking any big rules. I only question is why we do not use the red syrup methadone!??.... I have stomach issues where sometimes the medicine doesn't Workwell! I prefer the red syrup I don't know if we'll ever change to that but otherwise I give John Brooks 95%! They really do try to show you THERE IS A WAY OUT !!!!

After several attempts at rehab my ex husband finally connected with a Davide, a counselor who truly made a difference in helping him complete his long term program and he has now successfully transitioned to sober living and has shifted his mindset and has remained focused on recovery. A huge shout out to Davide for truly caring about the most difficult addict and being a true rehab counselor vs a textbook counselor actively listening to get a better understanding on the root cause of why the addict is in a constant battle with the demons of addiction and leading the addict out of the dark path and towards a brighter road to recovery. Davide deserves a big shout out and recognition for all that he does as counselor at Pyramid.

The entire staff from the director, psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, nurses, peer counselors and receptionists are highly qualified and caring individuals. Individual and group therapy sessions are well run and very productive. Helpful information is provided as well as many opportunities for self improvement. Access to other beneficial facilities and programs is provided to help you on your journey. I was here in 2016 for 3 months following my 6 month inpatient at John Brooks in Atlantic City..between John Brooks and Hanson house these two places changed my life! I had no idea what to expect at rehab or a halfway house... To be honest I didn't even realize what a halfway house was! Now I get it! They take their times while still giving you the treatment and recovery help that you get while you are in rehab... While they slowly get you back into society... They help you get a job, they help you save money for when you get out... If you want to get into a sober living facility they can get you there... They are very helpful and they show you and explain to you all of the useful information that you need to get back out in the world and do things that you really don't know how to do because you have been "running " or getting high on the streets for so long.. the answer so many questions.. and they help you grow so much more than you even realize.. the counselors there are incredible! And they truly do care. I definitely recommend going here... Or if you have someone you love struggling I recommend HANSEN HOUSE.. they also have a men's unit right next door. They have great food and the girls here all take turns cooking for each other, they work, they are instructed to do chores everyday and it gets everyone in a routine and teaches them how to share responsibilities and live..I'm grateful for Hanson house

It was nice with JFS because they have professional social workers. They make sure that you are ok, and they have a personable quality to them that reaps integrated benefits. I left one star out because they change out case managers and discharge quickly.
