It wasn't the end of my addictive behavior, but it certainly was the beginning of my healing journey. Thank you Father Tim for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. How many times does a person get to spend time in the Adirondack mountains with nothing to worry about but self discovery? I realize that's over simplified but you get out of this place, as in life, exactly what you put into it. Nothing is guaranteed. Don't carry baggage. Own yourself good and bad. People make mistakes, it's how you handle them that determines your future path. Cliches, yes. Also very true. I took a chance on myself in there, and although it wasn't the end of my use, it truly was the "OMG this isn't completely out of my control" moment where I was shown that the hard work of sobriety does pay off, but only if you are relentless in your pursuit. It's not about need or entitlement or how much money you have, it all boils down to HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT. I didn't fully realize that until I made many more mistakes but that doesn't have to be your journey. Oh, and by the way the food was absolutely incredible! The clinicians and staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and passionate about what they do. I attended the IOP program a year ago. My experience there was so impactful on my overall wellbeing. I now work in mental health myself and confidently refer patients their way knowing they will be supported through their mental health and sobriety journey. Katy Butterly 9 months ago I want to add a personal review of River Rock under my name because I’m truly happy of the program and what it has done for my family. I don’t necessarily identify as being an alcoholic but used substances as a way to cope with bad times. Through the intensive outpatient therapy program River Rock provides I was able to gain a clear understanding of how to navigate problems at home. I went through the process a few years ago and then my husband felt compelled (thankfully) to do so after. Since then, we’ve been able to navigate life in a more healthy manner. They use a multi-faceted approach of different therapies including CBT, DBT, life coaching, adventure therapy, group sessions and one-on-one therapy to make sure that people get the help they need! We’ve been able to create a more holistic life that benefits us and use the tools given to get through hard times. We are more connected and practice self care including cold plunges and are building a space to install a sauna at home. Communication is better, my husband has been alcohol free for over a year and a half and we are able to navigate life much better. If you are questioning getting help in any capacity, I would recommend at least reaching out to River Rock. There is no shame in wanting to take steps to achieving a more healthy outlook on life.
