COMMUNITY WARNING: A Level 1 Trauma Center in Burlington Vermont and the BPD are cooperating in a system that denies mental health treatment and Howard is taking over.
A friend was escorted out by security after saying they were going to hurt themselves. The nurses said "this is not a hotel" and that the patient was too medically stable to be allowed to stay there (they claimed hospital and insurance policies). Upon calling the police and informing them of the situation, ON A
RECORDED LINE:
Question: "Can the hospital discharge a patient if they have said they are going to harm themselves?"
PO: "That is their policy, there is nothing we can do."
Howard Mental health is stepping in today, but be VERY careful out there with your mental health friends. The system is being rigged against us because we are expensive and give bad feelings.
Everyone is safe for now but the system is failing. Be careful and stay safe.

The River Rock program is incredible. The clinicians and staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and passionate about what they do. I attended the IOP program a year ago. My experience there was so impactful on my overall wellbeing. I now work in mental health myself and confidently refer patients their way knowing they will be supported through their mental health and sobriety journey.

I want to add a personal review of River Rock under my name because I’m truly happy of the program and what it has done for my family. I don’t necessarily identify as being an alcoholic but used substances as a way to cope with bad times. Through the intensive outpatient therapy program River Rock provides I was able to gain a clear understanding of how to navigate problems at home. I went through the process a few years ago and then my husband felt compelled (thankfully) to do so after. Since then, we’ve been able to navigate life in a more healthy manner. They use a multi-faceted approach of different therapies including CBT, DBT, life coaching, adventure therapy, group sessions and one-on-one therapy to make sure that people get the help they need! We’ve been able to create a more holistic life that benefits us and use the tools given to get through hard times. We are more connected and practice self care including cold plunges and are building a space to install a sauna at home. Communication is better, my husband has been alcohol free for over a year and a half and we are able to navigate life much better. If you are questioning getting help in any capacity, I would recommend at least reaching out to River Rock. There is no shame in wanting to take steps to achieving a more healthy outlook on life. Its all in how you carry yourself while your their, if you need help ask for it. Ranting amd raving around the clinic being aggressive is gonna get you treated differently. Go in and be a normal decent person, be civilized for christ sakes your experience will be much more positive. In the end like you, there only doing there job. Ive been there 6 years and ive never ever had an issue everyone's very nice and makes my short time there better, always talkative and very friendly. Without them i know i wouldn't be standing on this side of the ground. Where many of my friends and family unfortunately have lost their own fights and their no longer her with us today"RIP". I go here off and on, it is a place to meet others, share a meal and join in on adventures. Adventures include group movie nights, trips to Maine, camping in Grand Isle, and various other places in Vermont. There are overnight trips and day trips, all of these events provide transportation from, and back to Westview. Evening trips deliver you to your home. Holidays are celebrated, with special meals. Lund helped my husband and I find the greatest gift in life and that was a child, a precious little girl who is now 22 and has started the process of adopting her first foster son.
