I was so lost and giving up on life and a few good suggestions brought me here. Everyone from the friar in charge of the inn to security and maintenance made me feel welcome. The counselors are the best I’ve ever dealt with. My counselor was amazing, the physco therapist helped me realize things on my own and a former resident who is now staff related to my issues making me comfortable with the process. That guy was a godsend. These people helped me with my addiction issues more in 6 months then I’ve been able to do over the last 30 years. I now have hope and a blueprint that I follow to live a life in recovery. I could never thank them enough

This place completely saved my life, it taught me a new way to live and that I am a man, worthy of love and respect. Since there, in 2017, I had one slip up about a year after I graduated, but that was almost 8 years ago now. Since then, I went to welding school, they set me up in a halfway house in NYC, moved back home to Rochester, NY. I have worked in the welding industry and slowly worked my way to where now I run a million dollar welding training program and I try pass along the same message I learned there. The counseling center staff are truly dedicated at providing excellent rehabilitation services. I have been to an inpatient facility where this was not the case, and have nothing but positive things to say about the counseling center. Dair, Tim, Kristen and Kristine helped me build strong mental habits and skills for managing the emotional stress that led to my use. Wish there was a rating higher than 5 stars

Had someone I care about stay here...
1- when there was a problem, the head nurse said "there is nothing I can do" so I went to the administrator. They told the nurse I had been there and then threatened the patient.
2- for an eating disorder unit, you would think they would actually care about the quality of the food given, and at the very least making sure if someone is allergic to a food, that the patient is never given that food. this was not the case and happened numerous times.
3- had staff lie to the patient and myself over numerous matters.
4- if you enter the facility to visit the patient, and leave to get food as the "cafeteria" is horrible, you will not be allowed back in.
5- there are heavy limits on how many visitors per day, so if multiple people want to visit, it HAS to be planned ahead of time.
6- the place is well over 100 years old, and feels it...it doesn't feel like a hospital and certainly not like any kind of hotel. It feels exactly like it is...an old asylum. Nothing comforting or homey about it.
7- calling the in-house number to report the nursing staff lead to them telling staff that I called and nothing being done.
8- for any that might have an issue with this, yes this place IS co-ed. you may not have someone else in your bedroom, but there may be people of other genders right next door. it is an asylum, yet they can't see how that can be triggering for some patients?
9- a patient arrived before dinner, but since the "on-boarding" (aka all the paperwork) took too long, the staff did not hold a dinner for the patient. this was a patient in the eating disorder unit.
10- staff in the eating disorder unit just ate and drank next to the patients without a care. They also left food and drink in their office out in clear view for the patients to see.

I’ve been to many hospitals but never one as bad as this. When I went they would force us to stay in our rooms for the majority of the day, even though there was a common area. The staff not only hated their job but the patients as well and would go out of their way to degrade us. It was hell, and my anxiety worsened during my stay. And my depression as well. I hope that they get shut down because it really is a horrible place.

I finally came to understand that for me it had to be addressed on the inside, I had to open up about everything I’ve ever been through whether I thought it was relevant or not to my addiction. I’m so grateful that I’ve finally surrendered to this process, learned how to accept my past, help, and that this is a life long process that is well worth the effort. My experience was awesome here I recommend this place to anyone, the staff is so professional and friendly anything you need they will make sure you get. Especially Michelle, and if it wasn't for Emily I wouldn't even have been here they are the best. I want to thank each of them for everything they've done for me I know I'm skipping a lot of names that I can't remember of the top of my head. MCCA mcdonough was my 4th rehab and probably my last chance to get sober. It was the best place for me to come to in the state I was in and honestly Jenni, Heather, and Michelle are THE best counselors I’ve ever met and worked with out of all the rehabs I’ve been to. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. And they all go above and beyond to help any client with whatever they can. They are the reason I have remained so connected to the program, as well as helping me get back on my feet and in sober living and building a community and network in recovery. I have seen some positive reviews here but I’ve also seen some negative, and it’s a shame those people didn’t have the experience I did because these counselors not only saved my life but they have changed it and me for the better. I don’t know where I would be right now without their help, guidance, and assistance, and I fully plan on doing everything in my power to stay clean so I can come back one day, share my story for their groups to show that recovery is possible, the program works, and if you allow these amazingly generous women to help you that you too can have a life beyond your wildest dreams.

What an incredible counciling program!!! The staff is very knowledgeable and very patient. The staff WANTS to see you succeed. You get what you put into it. If you listen to the councilors and really understand what’s going on with yourself, your strength and courage will set you free. Amazing program to start a new life!!!!

I am writing this on behalf of my daughter. She went there, thinking that this program was gonna really help her because she Heard good reviews she have not even been there a month she’s afraid to come home. She was told that if she needed to stay longer, she can and now that her time is almost up, she felt like she did not get the care she expected to get she’s very nervous about leaving and she wanted to get an extension and she was refuse. Yes she was there because of her parole officer upon being there she really liked the place but then she quickly found out that when you are there because of our parole officer, you only get to spend 30 days that is not enough time in my opinion to help somebody she’d spend too many other program for 30 days and it doesn’t help. I do not even know who to reach out to because she’s afraid to come home because she needs additional help if anyone can help me, please respond to this. I’m very worried about my daughter. She’s been an attic for eight years.

If i could give this plavce negative stars i would. My husband goes to the north haven clinic. Now there is a person there assigned to set up medical rides and have paperwork filled out for.veyo for the clients that require medical transportation to amd from there. Why everry 2 to 3 months my husbands rides arent in the system paperwork is overdue?? Its nonsense. I worked for logisticare booking these EXACT rides for clinics. They dont care about the clients all they carw about is the state mkney they get for these clients. Its sad. But in no way especially on a sat he doesnt have a ride to get dosed and they are closed on sunday. They arent goimg to like me monday

The worst ever experience I had their the nurses don't look at you they ignore you and you can call a doctor and no one will come I just wanted to have Tylenol and I waited 5 hours ridiculously and roode staff
They don't discuss with you anything just prick you and ignoring you without telling you what's going on I just knew what I was having a 3 days after just by asking a vulnerable nice nurse the doctor are rarely used don't go there please watch your health ????

If I could give this facility a negative rating I would. The staff employed here have no intent of truly opening the door to someone’s ability to enter recovery and success with improving mental health. The doctors here actually provide MORE prescription drugs to patients who are treated under their care for addiction when they leave than the patient even had to begin with prior to detox!!!!! I am disgusted with the lack of knowledge at this hospital, as their patients are discharged from their rehab centers with little to no support or aftercare in place, only to go on to develop psychosis at home a few weeks or months later. At this point, due directly to the detox from benzodiazepines, patients also find themselves in an even more precarious position than prior to entering this program.

Not a good hospital, the ER service is the slowest, it took them forever to take me in and to help me. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that when someone shows up at the ER is because they need ASAP care! You really need to start caring more about the people that go to you for help.
