He has helped me work through so many issues and helped me discover ways to relax and deal with my stressors better. The new psychiatrist (Dr. B), although still via telehealth, has helped me find the right medication that has me back to where I am happy, motivated and able to deal with day-to-day issues with way less anxiety. After relocating to PA in 2021 I began seeing a therapist here. It was a bit awkward, at first. After a while things became more comfortable. I felt listened to and have had a few break throughs. The Psychiatrist, on the other hand, was rushed, impatient and via Zoom (at the location). She misdiagnosed me and changed my long-time medication to one that had me on the verge of a breakdown! Saw another Psychiatrist a few months later (also via Zoom) and put back on original meds where I’m back to feeling like myself. The staff there got me through one of the worst times i’ve endured due to my withdrawal and they gave me meds that helped me so much. Mr brian, Mr. Gary, Mrs Michelle, and Mr brandon are amazing. Mrs Michelle is like a mom and she is so kind. Mr. James (Gritty) is the coolest counselor ever and by the second week I felt like a different person. They are so kind, and have been through some stuff themselves and you can learn a lot from them. Mrs Jenn, my counselor was a doll and she keeps it real with you. I had amazing talks with her and she even gave me a little strawberry that I can keep for ever. She constantly texted the second shift staff and asked if I was okay. The kids there are so funny I actually cannot. MRS DORTHYYY SHE IS THE BESTT I miss her!! If you are scared I promise you this place is the best option. Also Alana who does the discharge aftercare went out of her way completely just to help me find a place to go down South she spent hours of her time when there's a full house at marwars. I couldn't thank her enough. She's also very beautiful lol The nursing staff was generally great, and most were supportive and respectful. A couple could be a bit difficult at times, but overall, the team made a positive difference in my stay. Your fed very well. Staff is great all around. They also have a Shield program for firefighters, police, EMTs, and vets. You will get know Emil a councelor who is incredible. The best meetings I went to where in the Shiels meetings. Did acupuncture, at Christmas time the music program let us go Carroling around campus to all the other units , we built snowman, I was there for all major holidays that year and we was treated like a human being 😍 ALOT of ppl complain about not being able to talk to family but I actually found it a relief the first month I was there , I had crap I was dealing with (guilt ,shame , embarrassment )and the once a week I did call home those feelings of inadequacy would come back ten fold , but after the initial few weeks my confidence began to build and I learned forgiveness!!! I had never been in an addiction treatment center before, and White Deer Run was definitely an experience. I do believe I stayed the full 28 days. It's been so long I'm having a hard time remembering my actual treatment year. I would love to say I went to White deer Run and I stayed in recovery since. This was not the case however, I did go back out 😢. I learned a lot while I was there though, I learned that I could Not 🚫 escape the facility 😂. This might Not 🚫 make sense to some people reading this. This facility is almost impossible to leave once you have started the program for many reasons. I did not try to escape, but I watched many try. They returned very frustrated and tired as they walked back up the steep hill from the town below. The whole reason I really wanted to do a thank you or a shout out to WDR is because during my treatment I attended a meditation workshop. It was my first encounter with a monk. I sat down crossed my legs and then quickly prayed for the session to be over with. I was unhealthy and my legs had fallen deeply asleep, pins and needles 👀. I am grateful for THAT moment, I began My ✋🏻 journey learning patience. And, a shout out to the two young people who staffed the front desk at the hospital. They were upbeat and smiling. One of the two is a handsome young Yankees fan who has an infectious personality and who was able, in the short time we interacted with him, to completely diffuse the tension my husband and I had with respect to my upcoming procedure. I don't think people realize how important that first contact is. It sets the tone for the entire experience. So thank you to those young hospital representatives. I have no notes. UPDATE: I went to the E.R. on 6/8/2026 with a broken foot. All of the E.R. staff was attentive, responsive, empathetic, and caring. (There were a couple of unhoused people, who clearly were dealing with severe mental issues, who were patients; and I was blown away - and relieved - by how kindly and patiently they were treated; and happy that a social worker worked with them to address their immediate needs.) Angelica, among others, made the entire traumatic experience so much easier for me. I was admitted to have surgery the next day; and the medical nursing staff on the floor, the wonderful lady who cleaned the room, the anesthesiologist (with whom I interacted because he gave me a nerve block in the knee prior to surgery), the food coordinator (I'm a vegan, and she handled that beautifully), and - of course - Dr. Sweet - made the entire experience as free of stress and pain as possible.
