He has helped me work through so many issues and helped me discover ways to relax and deal with my stressors better. The new psychiatrist (Dr. B), although still via telehealth, has helped me find the right medication that has me back to where I am happy, motivated and able to deal with day-to-day issues with way less anxiety. After relocating to PA in 2021 I began seeing a therapist here. It was a bit awkward, at first. After a while things became more comfortable. I felt listened to and have had a few break throughs. The Psychiatrist, on the other hand, was rushed, impatient and via Zoom (at the location). She misdiagnosed me and changed my long-time medication to one that had me on the verge of a breakdown! Saw another Psychiatrist a few months later (also via Zoom) and put back on original meds where I’m back to feeling like myself. Also Alana who does the discharge aftercare went out of her way completely just to help me find a place to go down South she spent hours of her time when there's a full house at marwars. I couldn't thank her enough. She's also very beautiful lol The nursing staff was generally great, and most were supportive and respectful. A couple could be a bit difficult at times, but overall, the team made a positive difference in my stay. Your fed very well. Staff is great all around. They also have a Shield program for firefighters, police, EMTs, and vets. You will get know Emil a councelor who is incredible. The best meetings I went to where in the Shiels meetings. I was there for my full term and despite other “reveiws” i did not smoke any cigarettes or anything like that and i felt like i didnt need to either. Something tragic happened when i was there with an adolescent but even then it was so easy to talk about it and get over it without feeling like i have to drink or smoke. Countless rehabs have sent me home with only a weeks worth of medication for my mental health. This lead to relapses and self medicating. I let the staff at Huntington know my issue and they took it seriously. My counselor James understood my needs and sent me home with refills for my prescriptions allowing me time to find a primary care/ psychiatrist. S 1 month ago I was in unit 8 when it was co ed , and it was a absolutely amazing experience, as with most women in recovery I went there with a lack of trust in men to say the least ,but I made some amazing friends there who encouraged me and cheered for me , I thought I was only going to have to stay 30 days turns out the court decided I needed 90 , and Autumn delivered the news with such care that I easily accepted, she said Clarissa this can be what you make , we have a lot of programs here that you have access to let's get you signed up , I was able to video chat my children twice a week for 30 minutes took parentingl classes on how to help my children deal with my addiction and learned the steps I needed to take to stay clean!! Did acupuncture, at Christmas time the music program let us go Carroling around campus to all the other units , we built snowman, I was there for all major holidays that year and we was treated like a human being 😍 ALOT of ppl complain about not being able to talk to family but I actually found it a relief the first month I was there , I had crap I was dealing with (guilt ,shame , embarrassment )and the once a week I did call home those feelings of inadequacy would come back ten fold , but after the initial few weeks my confidence began to build and I learned forgiveness!!!
