Cassandra, the therapist whom runs group is just amazing at what she does! She genuinely cares, and goes above and beyond to help each individual reach their goals and full potential! She has helped me personally through a lot of hard times! The atmosphere is light and positive. However for some the group classes could possibly be a bit overwhelming at first. I am required to do 3hr groups 3 times a week. It just takes a little bit of motivation and determination! Everyone is different and need different things to successfully recover from addiction. Every experience I’ve had there has been exceptional. From the moment you walk through the doors, the staff, UPMC Police, nurses, and physicians treat people with dignity, respect, and compassion. More importantly, they actually listen. That alone sets them apart from many healthcare experiences. What impresses me most is the physicians’ ability to quickly assess complex situations and determine what’s actually going on with their patients. Their clinical judgment is remarkable, and in my opinion, some of the brightest doctors in the entire UPMC system work within those walls. On more than one occasion, I have witnessed them stabilize a patient in a matter of minutes after other facilities struggled for days. That level of expertise isn’t luck it’s the result of highly skilled professionals who know what they’re doing. Western Psychiatric has been the saving grace of UPMC for me. If it weren’t for the incredible physicians and staff there, I would have moved my healthcare to another network, such as Johns Hopkins or the Cleveland Clinic, a long time ago. To everyone at Western Psychiatric thank you for the professionalism, compassion, and expertise you show every day. Wayne huber 1 month ago It was really fun my first night day there they were really kind and we even got some treats for taking a shower and brushing our teeth ect they provide some stuff and it was safe no strings nothing sharp but I didn't really understand why they took out bottle caps but eh I really didn't care but I had a great time there so fun some food was good and some was nasty they have computers for school work if no school work youtube I would be laughing at the funny videos and I even got to play a guitar and other fun ones I meet really kind people there only one kinda rude lady but it was fun and I didn't wanna leave.
