Steppingstones to Recovery, located in Augusta, Georgia is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including alcoholism and co-occurring mental health disorders. They offer residential care providing long term support for addiction recovery, as well as flexible outpatient addiction therapy
Stepping Stones to Recovery truly changed my life. When I started their intensive outpatient program, I was struggling and unsure if I could ever break free from addiction. From day one, the staff made me feel welcome and supported. They treated me with respect and compassion, never judging my past but always encouraging my progress. The group sessions were incredibly powerful—sharing my story and hearing others helped me realize I wasn’t alone. The counselors are knowledgeable, caring, and genuinely invested in everyone’s recovery. They provided practical tools for managing cravings, rebuilding relationships, and handling life’s challenges without turning back to old habits. I appreciated how the program was flexible enough to fit my work schedule, but still intensive enough to keep me accountable. The focus on mental health and holistic wellness, not just sobriety, made a huge difference for me. I finished the program feeling stronger, more hopeful, and ready for long-term recovery. If you’re struggling and considering help, I highly recommend Stepping Stones to Recovery. Their IOP is the best decision I’ve ever made!

Best out- patient services I have connected with. The meetings are so helpful and everyone there truly wants to be there. It is very helpful that the therapists and case managers are not just standard run of the mill strangers, they are in recovery as well so they have the same experiences and can truly understand how hard life can be. Stepping Stones of Recovery is truly amazing first step to finding your family in healing.

I went to this place on my own with no idea how to stop and now I have graduated and over 2 months sober. They helped me get very affordable health insurance that covered everything! I am grateful for everyone I have met here and for my counselors who I get to keep seeing. The aftercare is free and you can keep going as long as you like. Please give this place a try. The old negative reviews are not my experience at all. It works if you work it.

After numerous hospitalizations and 4 prior treatment centers, Rivermend Health's Bluff Plantation in Augusta was a vital turning point in our son's life. Staff and programs are refreshing and hands down more effective, holistic, professional, communicative, and involved than any others. They passionately work with patients and families to change lives. The follow through with support programs for depression and substance abuse is unprecedented in 10 years of struggle. They treat the whole person and are teaching life skills that our son needs to live as he recovers. So helpful that insurance covers most of the costs.

I've been going here for over twelve years altogether. I've found every person working there to be thoughtful, attentive, understanding, and wholly involved and committed to the successful recovery and/or development of their patients to be able to live a more self-sufficient and self-satisfying life, as free from the horrors and pain of mental illnesses. In order to get the very best care along with the very best results and treatment, it's important to become your own best advocate. You must speak up and out and let people know what kind of issues you're dealing with, and what kind of path you'd like to take through the journey to healing and recovery. The staff at the Hartzog Center have always encouraged me to be the primary person in charge of my care and treatment. They've always listened to my needs, been incredibly supportive of everything I am trying to achieve, and have always been terribly easy to talk to, and to get help from when designing my own personal treatment plan. If you want good care, you've got to be a great patient. Nobody can read your mind. The staff at the Hartzog Center in North Augusta definitely care, and always support and encourage every patient to be involved and be proactive with the choices they make towards furthering their treatment goals.

My daughter chose to admit herself to Bluff because its is a dual diagnosis facility. She was afraid the first day because she was out of her comfort zone. However, the doctors, nurses, therapists and techs made her feel comfortable and through their actions really showed her that they cared about her health and her whole well being. Her psychological team re evaluated her bipolar medical need of necessity and adjusted/changed some of her meds. As a result, mentally she is no longer in a fog. She is now talkative, willing to volunteer to do things and make necessary changes. She enjoyed the food and friendly kitchen staff. Bluff conducted both individual and group therapy. They encourage family involvement by offering visitation/group therapy weekly and one weekend in the mo. they have a 2 day family program that is very beneficial to attend as the loved ones are educated on addiction and how it relates to what they are feeling.
