I just did my 28 day treatment and I loved every minute I was there. The counselors (especially Tony, Beth, Kendra and Krista) are wonderful, the techs, the nursing staff, everyone was so kind and helpful. It is the greatest place I never want to go to again!!

I have not been through drug rehab nor do I think that I need it? I do think that this facility is helpful I feel like the psychologists are down to earth and understanding, especially the 20+ year psychologists. They are so good that they don't have to take notes; while you are in a session. Makes it feel like you're just talking with your girlfriend, very calming.
It was court ordered that I took mandatory counseling when I was a teenager. I feel bad for my counseler, because of my demeanor, being a immature teenager. I worry she felt like our sessions were unproductive and a waste of her time.
The facility and Yankton is a little bit more tucked away it's in between the prison and Broadway street. It's not on a main road. The facility in Vermillion, South Dakota is right on Main Street. In front of the court house you cannot miss it.

I have been thru here. When it was located at old building. In 1997-98 ish. It helped me to a certain point, things there showed me that the REZ life isn't the only thing in life. When I became a Christian and I read books by people who overcame great struggles, poverty and broken homes to become successful and productive citizens in society. I highly recommend if you are struggling with addiction to opiates/heroin. If you want to change your life around don't hesitate The doctor is amazing and listens. The Nurses are so sweet. I'm going to miss one of the Nurses it's her last day. Also the counselors are all great people. I enjoy going talking to my counselor.

I personally and whole heartedly believe that your time here or at any treatment facility for that matter fully depends on YOU and the work and honesty you put into your recovery. No facility or program is perfect. You’re not going to like everyone inside the facility, whether it is a peer or a staff member. We are human, we weren’t made to click with everyone and everything! There will be some rules or restrictions in place that you won’t like, I know I didn’t like all of them but that’s life and if I’m going to be quite honest, we are addicts. We NEED these rules and restrictions because again, we are ADDICTS. 🤦🏽♀️ If you don’t surrender and don’t allow yourself to trust the process and don’t actually HEAR what the staff is teaching you, then I would hope that you would agree that you’re the only one to blame for your experience.
Even though being inpatient was uncomfortable at first, once I surrendered and trusted the process, I took FULL advantage of the fact that I, in a way got to press the pause button on normal life stressors and struggles. I got to focus strictly on me and only me for the FIRST time in my life WHILE I had my 3 younger babies with me. I had a roof over our heads, food was made for us, routine set in place, staff to help guide us with whatever we needed and etc all pretty much under one roof!
Words can’t even begin to describe the gratitude I feel towards Wellcome manor and the staff. They believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. On my hard days, they were patient with me. They were hard on me when I needed it. They helped me hold myself accountable. They spoke life back into me when I was convinced I was permanently dead inside. They helped me become a more patient attentive mother. They helped me and gave me the space to bond with my children on a level so deep, I didn’t know it existed. 🩶
I graduated a year ago in September 2024. I still have a long ways to go, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without Wellcome Manor as a WHOLE but I personally want to give a shout out to my therapist Angie, my Counselor Caitlin, my treatment coordinator Marni, and the parent educator Megan. These four impacted my life in away I will never ever forget and forever will be so thankful for!
Also, Shannon needs her own shout out! With her creativity, amazing parent aides, and her silly personality she helped make core memories for myself and my kiddos to remember for a lifetime with the events she planned!

This facility is the worst place for women & children imo! They did everything they possibly could to make it hard for my daughter to graduate from there, as well as keeping her on the lowest phase/level in order for them to continue getting the most from the insurance companies! My daughter was repeatedly harassed even though she was doing well & passing all of her drug screens. She was discharged for using a e-cigarette/vape & being caught with one a couple times. I understand they aren’t supposed to use them there but she didn’t like to smoke cigarettes anymore & I made sure that it was new & not tampered with. This “family treatment center” made it extremely difficult for our family to go visit my daughter and grandkids the whole time they were there. Saying one time that they didn’t have enough staff on to facilitate the visit but there were security cameras besides a couple staff in the kitchen where we visited at. Every time we went to visit the staff would make up lies saying that we were being rude to the staff when we weren’t even saying anything to them. The staff would talk about clients and their families and they were extremely unfriendly & made the visits very uncomfortable the whole time. This facility really needs to be investigated and audited. I’m looking into a lawsuit

I worked here for about 15 months, and I liked helping people, but the management really doesn't seem to care about people. I think half of the rules are stupid as hell, and it's not designed for success. This place could be great, but it's a revolving door. I saw a lot of staff and client relationships that were way of of line, and very concerning and I think if you're looking for a good treatment facility this is not it. I would suggest keystone, or stepping stones, or if you're looking out of state, Prairie in Fargo is pretty good, or Hazelden. Addiction is a serious issue, and I hope that you look into some great places to go to get the help you need. I am not writing this to bash the Arch, I just want you to get the appropriate level of care you need, and this place in my opinion provides a poor service. I have been a patient here for several years now. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff, counselors and clinical psychiatry team. They have always been easy to talk to, easy to work with when I've needed medication adjustments, and they're even willing to get scrappy with my stupid insurance company when they don't want to cover my prescriptions. I am appreciative of everyone here and glad there's a place like this in Mitchell so I don't have to drive even further to Sioux Falls :)

I haven't personally been a patient here, but I have had several friends complete the inpatient program for substance abuse, and they all seemed to like it. I know you can still smoke cigarettes, but no cell phones the first few weeks and limited if any contact at all with the outside world. It's coed, so that probably helps people when making a decision for an inpatient facility. Especially when we're talking 30+ days or more, detoxing off any and all things good, lol! The entrance to check in is tricky to find too, it's actually on the back side, or really, it might even be the side of the building under an awning. Hit the buzzer, and someone comes to help you get checked in.

I met some of the most caring, respectful, and loving people during my time there. There aren't enough words in the English language to describe how I feel for them. The people change/save lives and do it past normal work hrs on a regular basis (and not much $ LOL) for people like me that the world had given up on. I never noticed before because of the environments i was in but my morals and values were skewed, my thoughts extremely criminal and distorted, and i had done nothing with with my life but NOVA gave me the fresh choice to be somebody different by opening my eyes to my NEW OPTIONS, VALUES AND ACHIEVEMENTS!!!

I’ve been a patient here since 2016. My life is completely different and will continue to be thanks to the offering of medication assisted sobriety. The number one priority is you communicate with your counselor and the Doctor. Once you reach the dose your body needs the real changes begin. No more will you have to just get through the day because you’re sick or spend your entire paycheck to try and get enough to get through another week. The staff is made up of angels. Everyone is there to help us get better and live better. If you’re sick of being sick give the program a try. They only requirements are the desire for a better life and to stop abusing.

Many of the people posting negative comments are not complaining about Avera, they are complaining about a particular doctor. The trick here, as it is in every clinic in the country, is getting a doctor (what we used to call a GP I guess) that's right for you. I have Dr. Lilgaroth, she is great, so I gave 5 stars. My wife has had bad experiences in the past with so many male drs (the old "you're a woman & I'm both a man AND a doctor, so I'm gonna ignore what you say") that she finally demanded a female doctor, and that happened to work out great for her. Gender may not have been the reason, she may just have got a great dr-- the important thing is, my wife was comfortable with her. When her female dr retired, she ended up with a male dr (Dr Gunderson, I believe?) and she says he is great. Ya just gotta shop around and get a doc that is a fit for you-- that is true of any clinic, not just Avera. But I've also had pretty much all positive experiences with other parts of the clinic-- reception, labs, nurses, Avera hospitals, even the money people. (Btw, I'm not a nice guy or a pollyanna; I am by nature an extremely demanding pain in the, uh, rear.)

I don’t know about the drs but their rehab program is the best they work on your mental health and get to the root causes of your addiction I was also in a lot of physical pain and I got to go to physical therapy and they were great also…

Honest review here, and I just want to give brief explanations of the waiting time is very long. This hospital seems to be short staffed way too often, visiting my Aunt who was having surgery. I mean sometimes staff can be fed up, but they still do their jobs which is good. Only think stopping me from rating 3 stars is because of how nice one staff in the kitchen is, and don’t get my wrong all of them are kind. This lady I’m not sure, but her name is gada don’t know if I missed spelled it. She is very nice I mean she does great! Her good energy made the visit a bit better knowing the food was always better then I expected, and the lady made it on the grill right in front of me, I don’t want to sound like I’m giving this person glory. I really don’t know her but she deserves the praise because of her kindness and delicious cooking.
