Bryan, TX | BVCASA–Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse, in Bryan, Texas, is a comprehensive, 12 step-focused drug and alcohol rehab for adolescents and adults. As a former student at Resolution Ranch Academy I honestly can't say enough good things about this place, I was sent here early December 2023 by my parents to be given a chance to turn my life around/to abandon the negative lifestyle that I was living. Before attending the ranch I was on a daily basis using drugs, skipping school, and disregarding authority all together. I won't lie and say this place was easy or that all my problems in life are gone because of my time at the ranch, but I will say if you are truly able to help your kid understand that change needs to happen and that the way he is living currently isn't working and that this place isn't a punishment, you can expect positive change. The staff there do truly care and want to see the best for you many of whom I still keep in contact with after graduating recently January of this year. The therapists there are also really empathetic most especially the one who I was assigned with, Mr. Clayton. He would consistently go out of his way to check in with his other students not because he was required to but because he cared, I can remember the countless times where it would be hours past his shift and he would still be there talking and processing with me to help me deal with my emotions and problems that I was struggling with. Thanks to the ranch I was able to excel at school and was able to turn my thoughts of wanting to dropout into now pursuing my education even further. The teachers there are super supportive and are willing to help you any chance they can and because of this I was able to go into the ranch mid way through my sophomore year of high school and come out a year later a high school graduate. As I mentioned before, yes this place can be difficult however anything worth doing WILL take time and on top of that your effort into whatever it is you are working on. If you choose to go in with a bad mindset chances are not much will change, but if you truly dedicate yourself to change I can promise you that you will be rewarded for your hard work. Lastly, I'd like to thank the ranch once again for all that they have done and the opportunities that they provided for me to be able to succeed in life in a way that I was unsure on how to do before.

Sending our son to Resolution Ranch was a tough decision, but it ended up being the best one we could have made. Struggling with behavioral issues, we felt lost. Resolution Ranch's compassionate staff provided exceptional, individualized care including excellent therapy. The therapists are skilled, family therapy was invaluable, the teachers are invested and the supportive community fostered growth in our son. Our child returned home transformed, with improved self-awareness and coping skills. Even typing this out gives me great joy to see how much better he has been.Needless to say we're deeply grateful and highly recommend Resolution Ranch Academy!!!

My feelings about The Orchard Recovery Center go far beyond any words I could ever truly say. I am a changed, renewed, and hopeful person because of the care The Orchard showed me during my 30-day stay.
From the beautiful people who maintain the breathtaking 132 acres, to the very top of the medical/ clinical team — and of course Dan — every single person is beyond exceptional.
I truly believe the “secret sauce” everyone talks about at The Orchard is community. It begins with the people who dedicate their lives not only to their own sobriety, but to ours as residents as well.
I cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who welcomed me into their care with open arms — with no judgment, no preconceived notions, and every willingness to give me the help, the space, and the love I needed to heal from trauma that resulted in addiction.
If you are looking for a place to become renewed and begin your recovery journey, I would wholeheartedly encourage you to take a hard look at The Orchard. Set along the Brazos River, the land itself feels special. When the Indigenous people named this river , they could not have known it would one day feel like “the arms of love” to so many. But that is exactly what this land is, and exactly what The Orchard is all about!
I took this photo on the last evening of my stay…. It speaks volumes….. Take this road, specially chosen for you, and follow the arrow to recovery.

Austin, TX | Briarwood Alcohol and Drug Detox is a medically supervised detox center in Austin, Texas offering 24 hour monitoring and support for adults withdrawing from alcohol and drugs. The facility provides inpatient medical detox with individualized treatment planning and medication assisted treatment accompanied by therapeutic support during stabilization | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I came here barely alive, hopelessly alcoholic after years of heavy daily drinking. Going on 15 months sober. I wouldnt be here if it wasn't for them. I thought I'd need a 30-day program after, but i felt so much better by day 5 that I resolved to not drink again, and still havent. They have the drug cocktail down to a science, I barely felt any serious withdrawls. The nurses are very attentive albeit DMV-ish at times, which is a good thing in that context. The staff is very kind and caring, experienced and understanding. No nurse ratchet here. You will be frustrated by some of their institutional policies, but they do a good job explaining why those policies are in place without being overbearing or condescending.
The reasons I gave it 4 stars, not 5. This is not an indictment but constructive criticism, and a warning about what to expect if these issues matter to you:
The food seems to be mostly cooked off site and reheated. It's stale institutional slop, with processed food snacks left out. Nothing on the menu is fresh or natural. I had some food sensitivites and they had trouble wrapping their heads around it. I ended up mostly eating fruit cups and bagels with cream cheese. You cannot order food in. This policy is in place because people will try to sneak things in and this facility does take on patients who are there against their wishes via parents, employment deal, or court order.
If you're running a detox, you may want to consider serving healthier food? Fresh fruit instead of canned? some high fiber grains? real meat, not frozen food? I brought this up. Hopefully they fixed it.
There wasn't much to do there. They had a room full of movie theater seats with a flatscreen, a broken guitar, some supermarket books, AA stuff, and a set of chairs outside. Mostly you sit around and talk, watch tv, or sleep. It's a small property but you can walk laps.
There's no counseling at the detox. Some AA volunteer groups shows up once in a while to talk. It may be helpful for some. There should be an on site counselor that does that job full time. Everyone else has their own specific job and sitting down and talking to people 1 on 1 didnt seem to be part of the description. They seem to be focused entirely on the medical detox aspect of the process. If you need rehab, you do that after, or find a rehab that does detox on site.

Long story short, 35 years of hard drinking landed me in a ditch in a city I'm not even from. But I thank GOD every day for it! My desperation for change got me to Briarwood detox center. I was so scared but I was unusually willing to do anything, the night before waking up in that ditch I was contemplating suicide, again. For so many years I watched my life fall apart time and time again, over and over. I really never understood why I was unable to control my drinking. Leaving Briarwood and while being transported to Nova recovery center I didn't know what to expect but my anger and anxiety were already building. I still can't get over how amazing Nova looks, it pretty much relaxes you the minute you arrive! I had never been to "rehab" before so I was blown away by the beauty of the amenities and the attentive staff. So with that said, I was sweet and grateful to be there for about 48 hours and then I started being the walking talking character defect stage character I was, telling everyone how they should do their jobs and finding things, if not inventing things to complain about. I still get embarrassed sometimes of my actions and comments I made the first weeks of my stay. But what stands out is how the staff didn't even blink! I never got the reaction I would of deserved! I was loved on! I was given understanding and compassion! They treated me like the sick person who needed help, that I was! They dug in and held me accountable with truth and what I referrer to as grace. The Recovery specialist who work with us, for us and teach us vital solutions to my disease of alcoholism that I will be forever grateful for. From the frequent individual counseling sessions to the daily group counseling classes to the, "hey I need to talk!", I received an understanding of how to maintain my life of sobriety! Nova is a very important and special place to me so I could really go on and on but the main point I want to testify about is this, I'm truly a better person today because of the dedication to helping people by the Nova recovery family!
Sincerely,
Dustin❤️
