Nurses/dosing staff: 5/5 Receptionist: 5/5 Dr. Archibald: 2/5 Counselors: 2/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Safety: 4/5 Parking Lot: 3/5 Nurses/front desk/dosing staff are great, really sweet people who treat you like you're human. I love that THEY OFFER GRANTS that cover all or most of your treatment. Focus is definitely not on counseling here, and your experience can vary pretty widely depending on who you get. I'm currently on a by-the-book stickler counselor, but they never last long so hopefully my next one will be better. I think I've had 5+ counselors I've gone through in less than a year because they come and go so quickly. Dr. Archibald tends to be less than sympathetic to addicts. I'm not sure why people like that work in these places but I guess maybe they start wanting to help then get jaded. One good thing about him though is that he'll prescribe narcotics like Xanax and Adderall on top of the Methadone if you play your cards right.

I learned those are people who are there to help you and they are actually very serious about health and recovery. Now I am a happy, functioning, productive member of society. Counselors knew where to take me and were non-judgemental. Everyone acts as if you are the only client because they give you their full attention (and there is a lot of people coming really)

The VA Bessemer Clinic staff is always efficient and respectful to my Father and we as his children. Dr. Cooley takes the time to listen from the heart and provide valuable feedback.

We relocated from another state and Bessemer VA was quick to schedule appointment for my husband as well as insure additional appointments were arranged for additional specialty clinics. We were very impressed with the provider as well as the staff. We appreciated their efficiency as well as their caring attitudes. Made this part of our relocation a relief. Additionally, every clinic we have encountered between Bessemer and Birmingham has been very positive, professional, and efficient!

They always treat me good

My son was shot 4 times on Jan 31 on my granddaughter’s 13th birthday in front of his father in Bessemer. He was shot twice in the stomach and twice in the chest. He remained calm and called 911 and told God you saved me once so I know you will save me again. He was born three days after my 42nd birthday and received his name due to a healing when they said he was going to die. His name is Blesset Isaiah Person. After he was named after a Nigerian friend named Blessing and my sister-in-law said to name him Isaiah which means the Lord Saves I called and gave my assistant minister his name and the doctors’ cane in and said look like he’s going to pull through to which I responded there is no look like with God! Anyway UAB trauma surgeons are the best in the country. The surgery took about 41/2 hours. He lost a kidney, his spleen, a piece of his pancreas and has a bullet lodged in his back. First off when I made it to the 9th floor trauma unit Fonda gave me a coffee cake and Laquita continued to take care of me and my family daily! The nurses were heavenly divine. There was Abby Vice my favorite and Abby Hadaway my other favorite, plus Emily, and Shantia my son who relieved me and my son the patient’s favorite along with me. Omg all the nurses were so great. The PCAs’ Jason, Jordon, Brady, Daphne and the rest went above and beyond. As for the doctors’ the Trauma doctors were the best this side of heaven. Dr WAN was so kind and friendly. He explained my son’s condition very well as did Dr. Frutata and Dr Wu who discharged him today! Dr Amini made a great impression on me as well and Dr Weiner. They are exceptional and do their jobs in a manner consistent with excellence. I’m proud to have known them! I wish them continued blessings in order to continue to help others’ in their professional journey!💙🔥💙🔥💙🙏🏿

Friendship happens the moment I realize I’m not the only one. I showed up at Turning Point believing the lies of fear and shame, alone and ready to get it over with. But God showed up every day in the words and actions of the instructors and other residents who were also bent but not broken. Turning Point surprised me with grace and prepared me for a more disciplined life of service and recovery. 90 days at Turning Point gave me a future and a hope.

If you are a straight white Christian male, I want you to go here. Otherwise find something else. Peace!

I spent the whole 90 days there being guided through a journey of unlearning a lot of preconceived notions that were not working at all. 40 years of emotional weight was removed by the awesome staff loving me where I was while helping me remove so much junk at my own pace. They patiently held the light and encouraged me while I did the work. God bless them eternally for that kind of love! It works if you work it. And. How free do you want to be?

I’ve been here for 3 days now and I must say, Mrs. Celeste from the front is AMAZING!! She has been a Godsend, and Mrs. Coretta (the nurse), Mrs.cherri and Mrs. Ruth they all have shown me they work as a team and WANT PEOPLE TO STAY SOBER AND COME TO THEIR CLINIC! Sobriety is a journey, NOT a destination! It never ends! Thank you so much ladies!!! Would recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Anxiety is a tough one, have lived with it for a very long time and it seems to get worse as the older I become, Doctors and Therapists here care about you and want the best for you while in there care, one day I'm hoping to find a resolution to my issues.

Since the first moment, I was treated with dignity and kindness, the people here were very pleasant, courteous and polite with everyone. The waiting room is comfortable and the waiting time is considerable. I liked the personal attention that I received from the nurses. Best treatment ever.

My name is Vanessa C. My experience at the Olivia's House was Life Saving, not only for me but for my children Erica and Charles. I went there not believing I had a Problem. After I was released I didn't follow what I was taught, but a few months later I got myself together and used the Tools I was taught there. My children both have Colleges Degrees and one just recently received his Masters.The Staff was Very Knowledge and Caring. Thank You from the Custodian to the Kitchen, Couselors and Van Driver. You Saved Our Lives.

Wonderful complex in Highland Park. Very close to great restaurants and parks. This is a well-managed complex.

When I return home from a trip and enter the gated community of condos surrounded with lush greenery and palm trees, I know I have returned to my oasis in the city. I love the Southern atmosphere the Condo Association has created, and I always feel welcome and at home in the surroundings. The property is well maintained and clean from rubbish. The swimming pool looks as though it would fit well within the confines of any upscale resort vacation facility and, like the surrounding area, is clean and well maintained. The complex is located on the cusp of downtown Birmingham, and the airport is less than ten minutes away. A well connected Interstate system surrounds our city, and it's easy to navigate from my condo to any other location within the city or venture further out by car or from the nearby airport.

I have multiple friends that live at Hanover Circle Condominium and I have spent many, many days over the last 10+ years visiting them. It is also a treat to go to Hanover because I feel like I am entering a tropical resort each and every time I go to visit. I am greeted as I come through the front gate with a beautifully landscaped area with a five-tier fountain with topical water lilies and goldfish. The property also has Bevolo gas lanterns in the parking lot and around the beautiful pool area. To make the property even better, it is smoke-free so everyone can enjoy the area without breathing cancer causing smoke. I am also amazed at the quality of resident that management has been able to attract to the property. Everyone I meet is very nice and the type of people you want to be around-doctors, lawyers, professors, elected officials, medical students, dental students, optometry students, law students, etc. You simply do not find this level of detail and quality resident anywhere else. In addition, the property is very secure with the gated access and cameras all about the property.

Fellowship house really helped me get back on my feet. Great place. Great staff. A safe place to recover. They care about your mental and emotional health. I learned so much from my time there. I transitioned to the apartments. I’m so grateful for the time I spent at Fellowship House. It’s a great place to get the help you need.

I love this place. Great staff. Great food. The classes get kind of redundant but other than that its a awesome place to go rehab.

This was my second time being at Hillside. I’m redoing my review, and I feel like this time helped a lot more than the first round. For some people, it may take more than one try to get it. But I know one thing for sure, all of the staff are going to make sure you are okay, well supported, and you get the help that you need! The nursing staff, a little less helpful because I broke my foot and it took them a whole day of me complaining and then telling me to still walk on it and give me ibuprofen, until I had to go to the emergency room bc the x-rays showed a broken foot. (They wouldn’t give me crutches until the x-ray came back…which was crazy because I was visibly in SO MUCH PAIN having to walk on a BROKEN foot). Besides my experience with nursing, hillside helped me a lot with my behavioral problems and mental health. I really appreciate all of Evan’s Staff: Ms. S (like a big sister to me), Ms. C (the cool grandma everyone wants to be like when they’re older), Ms. Grace (the best lead and supporter, I appreciate you and Ms. C so much for supporting me in my Hearts For Hillside Speech), Ms. Ceddy (she always tries to find the good in things), Mr. Tyler (very obsessed with Michael Jackson but he knows good music), Ms. Leasha (the strict staff everyone complained abt but she did her job perfectly by keeping us in line and supporting us the best she can and for that I appreciate it), Ms Kayla(she is the best new person ever. She did her few days of training and handled everything so well!!), Ms Tiana(she should really get in the studio because her raps are so good!! And she always gave me a moment to get myself together and helped talk me through my issues), and Ms. Monique(the one who went with me to get my cast on my foot, we had a great time at the hospital watching tv and talking). I really appreciate all of the hillside staff (except nursing). I feel like I built a therapeutic bond with all of you!! You guys deserve the world and you are really appreciated for everything you do for each and every client at hillside. I hope to never see you guys again for real this time(in a good way). I hope everyone continues to thrive. I really miss you guys and you were some of the best people I’ve ever met. God is going to bless you all.

I called to make an appointment to see Drew. The receptionist was so rude. She said he didn't work there. Then asked me for my zip code. Very rude lady. She did transfer me to his VM, though. I gave it one star. But I've added to this review months later and give them 5 stars!!!!! Update 8/2023...I got a call from Drew several months ago and he was very helpful and nice. JBS has helped a friend of mine that was homeless. They helped her get her own apartment, furnished. Without them, she would still be on the streets. JBS helped her get all types of medical care and they pay for her all of her medicines. They provide their clients with transportation to any grocery store to shop, twice a month. They have excellent therapists and counselors. Jbs has many resources for their clients. I should not have posted a review based on the receptionist. Maybe she was having a bad day. I would definitely recommend anyone to JBS. They are very caring and helpful. I saw a counselor with JBS over 25 years ago, when she was at First Light . She was so caring and helpful. (Robin) If you want or need some help....I recommend JBS 100%!!!

They are the absolute best people when you need help. Very friendly and helpful. Answers any and all questions.

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this agency. I suppose it's due to the fact that they do work with a lot of children and families that were referred because of involvement with the law, DHR, or because they are indigent and in need of mental health services. We have been working with project FIND and children's services It has been amazing. My son has turned back into the gentleman he was before adolescence set in. I cannot sing the therapists praises enough.
