Nurses/dosing staff: 5/5 Receptionist: 5/5 Dr. Archibald: 2/5 Counselors: 2/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Safety: 4/5 Parking Lot: 3/5 Nurses/front desk/dosing staff are great, really sweet people who treat you like you're human. I love that THEY OFFER GRANTS that cover all or most of your treatment. Focus is definitely not on counseling here, and your experience can vary pretty widely depending on who you get. I'm currently on a by-the-book stickler counselor, but they never last long so hopefully my next one will be better. I think I've had 5+ counselors I've gone through in less than a year because they come and go so quickly. Dr. Archibald tends to be less than sympathetic to addicts. I'm not sure why people like that work in these places but I guess maybe they start wanting to help then get jaded. One good thing about him though is that he'll prescribe narcotics like Xanax and Adderall on top of the Methadone if you play your cards right.

My first time experience at the Birmingham VA was very pleasant. Today's visit was as efficient as I have ever seen. The emergency check in, triage, being checked out by a PA, X-ray, nurse administering shots, very smooth. Everyone was so professional and courteous. Review of the images, discharge, and a reasonable wait at pharmacy, and then out the door I went. From the time of arrival until I departed was just under 2.5 hours. Well done Birmingham VA staff!

Yesterday I ended up in the ER after dealing with severe dizziness for 3 days. Thankfully, I was taken back pretty quickly, and I spent about 6 hours there. I want to say that my doctor was kind, and the staff I interacted with afterward were also kind. I know healthcare workers are under a lot of pressure, and I appreciate the care they provide. That said, I left feeling discouraged and with more questions than answers. I developed significant pain in my left side while I was there, but it was never evaluated. I later found out I have diverticulitis, which explains that pain. When I first arrived, the admissions clerk was on the phone, so I waited to be checked in. She seemed frustrated when I approached, and I actually found myself apologizing for interrupting. Things improved after that, but it wasn't the best first impression. The biggest frustration was feeling like my concerns about the dizziness weren't fully heard. The doctor repeatedly said he was referring me back to neurology, but I've already been seen by neurology several times recently. If he suspected something different or had another reason for that recommendation, I wish it had been explained to me. Understanding the "why" helps patients feel heard and involved in their own care. I'm grateful that the CT didn't show anything life-threatening, but I'm still searching for answers about the dizziness while now also dealing with diverticulitis. Hopefully I'll get some clarity soon. I'm also very thankful that my lovely nurse that done my IV was so gentle, yet swift that I didn't feel a thing.

I'm have been going to this clinic off and on for many years.I can honestly say the reason myself leaving the clinic has nothing to do with uncaring staff from the intake service to the counselor's, nurse's, Doctors,Directore,Etc...Its an open door clinic meaning I can talk to anyone who's door is open if my assigned counselor is not available at that time. Thats some of the reasons if I need to leave or return the door is always open with no negative remarks. 🙂

Impact truly saved my life. When I arrived, I was broken, lost, and carrying years of pain, shame, and addiction. What I found wasn’t just a program—it was a fellowship and a spiritual foundation that helped rebuild me from the inside out. Colby, Shwartz, Tanner, and Moody helped me in ways no other staff ever had, even after two previous programs and relapses. Their guidance, honesty, and presence made all the difference. The clinical team—Kathleen and Emily—were the other half of why Impact works so well. Emily’s French Bulldog, Fudge, and especially Kathleen’s therapeutic horse farm, Samsons Strength Veterans Project, which I was fortunate to visit twice during my stay, were incredible gifts that added so much healing to my experience. The staff here don’t just “show up”—they lead with accountability, authenticity, and real-life experience that makes you feel truly seen and understood. The structure, the spiritual focus, and the honest conversations pushed me in ways I didn’t know I needed, and they filled the gaps I had been searching for. Impact gave me clarity, purpose, and real tools to stay sober and actually live—not just survive. I’m grateful every single day for what this place poured into me. If you’re struggling and looking for true change, Impact will meet you where you’re at and help you grow into the person you were meant to be. They didn’t just help me recover… they helped me reclaim my life. I didn’t get to know Adams, the owner, very well, but hearing his Mother speak about his addiction changed me. I couldn’t help but picture my own mother telling a room full of men my story—with tears in her eyes—because I had finally made it. That moment hit me hard and stayed with me. Addiction is life or death. I wouldn’t have spend the time writing this review if they hadn’t saved mine.

My son was shot 4 times on Jan 31 on my granddaughter’s 13th birthday in front of his father in Bessemer. He was shot twice in the stomach and twice in the chest. He remained calm and called 911 and told God you saved me once so I know you will save me again. He was born three days after my 42nd birthday and received his name due to a healing when they said he was going to die. His name is Blesset Isaiah Person. After he was named after a Nigerian friend named Blessing and my sister-in-law said to name him Isaiah which means the Lord Saves I called and gave my assistant minister his name and the doctors’ cane in and said look like he’s going to pull through to which I responded there is no look like with God! Anyway UAB trauma surgeons are the best in the country. The surgery took about 41/2 hours. He lost a kidney, his spleen, a piece of his pancreas and has a bullet lodged in his back. First off when I made it to the 9th floor trauma unit Fonda gave me a coffee cake and Laquita continued to take care of me and my family daily! The nurses were heavenly divine. There was Abby Vice my favorite and Abby Hadaway my other favorite, plus Emily, and Shantia my son who relieved me and my son the patient’s favorite along with me. Omg all the nurses were so great. The PCAs’ Jason, Jordon, Brady, Daphne and the rest went above and beyond. As for the doctors’ the Trauma doctors were the best this side of heaven. Dr WAN was so kind and friendly. He explained my son’s condition very well as did Dr. Frutata and Dr Wu who discharged him today! Dr Amini made a great impression on me as well and Dr Weiner. They are exceptional and do their jobs in a manner consistent with excellence. I’m proud to have known them! I wish them continued blessings in order to continue to help others’ in their professional journey!💙🔥💙🔥💙🙏🏿

Magnolia Creek truly made recovery a reality for me. When I came in, I was practically coming straight out of another residential and PHP where I had gone through the motions but on an inward level didn't want recovery at all. When I left there, I immediately relapsed into old behaviors and desperately needed more help. Coming to Magnolia Creek was the best choice I could have made. My team proved time and time again that I could trust them with every part of me and with my needs. The staff at MC helped me walk through the worst moments of my life, even though I wasn't particularly the most eager or cooperative client in the beginning. I can't say enough good things about the groups, the therapists, the dieticians, and the cooks. I felt very heard and seen and involved in my plan of care. While I am now graduating their program, I am eager and I know that I am well equipped to face my challenges and continue to work towards recovery each day!

We will be forever grateful for Magnolia Creek and its staff. Our daughter attended the residential and PHP adult program and the growth and change in her is amazing. The staff there TRULY cares. The grounds are peaceful and the houses super clean and comfortable. They really listen to the women and take their ideas about outings they would like to try and activities they want to do. We especially want to thank Sam, Dylan and Kelsey for the thoughtful care they gave our daughter. They truly individualize their care to the needs of their clients. Tanya is wonderful in her nursing care and Heath does a great job planning meaningful outdoor activities utilizing the beautiful grounds and nature. He really cares about getting the girls outside and active! Caroline from the office was wonderful during check-in and always a friendly face. They do a great job offering housing on property for PHP and it gave our daughter the opportunity to be independent, yet still have her support team in place. We highly recommend Magnolia Creek to anyone struggling and are so thankful for making a meaningful impact on our daughter.

My insurance allowed me to choose Alsana or ERC. I was thankful that I had a SCA approved by insurance so I would never be able to go back with my insurance/being out of state. I was in treatment from Jan. 2025 until October of 2025 going through all levels of care offered. I came out of a college environment doing online treatment through Within Health. So this was a complete 360 for me. I think a person’s experience truly depends on when they were there. This is because the biggest concern that my insurance even noted is the staff over turn. Specifically in Direct Care Staff (DCS). During my time there, there was also a transition with at least one RD, and a handful of therapists who did not stay. I truly believe as some were for personal reasons and others for because of how Alsana was. The supervision and quality of care from DCS was very poor during my months of Res specifically from Night time staff. This was my first 8 weeks. Staff did eventually get fired or quit but it took a long time. Leadership was always messy and something I did not get to see figured out. This cannot be controlled but sometimes the group of clients you are with (the milieu) can make it or break it“. During my time I made a solid group of friends and we became tight. Of course as people came and went it changed. Many friends I am still in contact with today. You are not gonna jam with everyone you meet. Everyone is going through the unspoken so you really have to be determined to recover in any level. Although you can ACA, you are not forced to stay. During my time DCS Alden, Mya (not spelled that way), Tiffany, Demetria, Zoe were phenomenal. The nursing staff was great and made sure I always got what I needed. Deb, Brooke, Alex, Michelle, Sylvia… You rock!! What pushes my rating on this place is the quality of care from my therapists and RD’s. Working with one team in Residential and one team in PHP/IOP. Kimberly Ward, Callie Mauldin, Lia Puzzo (temporary/left), Kaitlyn Martin/Weldy were my main people. Because of my past I clicked really well with Kim and she truly changed my life. Alsana is really open to you leaning into your faith and welcomes it. If you also do not follow a religion or different spiritual beliefs it is not brought up. It was something I spoke up about and integrated into my sessions. The Psychiatrists that they had when I left was great! The website does need to be updated and changed as the inside has. No complaints about quality of beds! Just be prepared it is cold. Main Rooms have been flopped and needed revamping when I left . I stay in touch by email with my team when I can and went straight into having a full OP team. Psych, RD, and Therapist. Treatment is like college. There is different options because not every place is gonna be a good fit. I mean, when it comes to treatment it should be. The healthcare system itself needs much help. Keep it real, I want to know other peoples experiences as well.

The wonderful people that work at Olivia’s House are truly amazing. Blessed to have had them as a part of my journey. My daughter was with me and she thrived with the help of the children’s director. I still stay in contact with her and share my journey since leaving. Been clean and building my life up and living to the fullest ever since.

We are getting ready for an upcoming move and The Foundry has picked up donations at our home twice. Both times our Donation Specialist was Tremaine Perry. Tremaine and the man with him were the most pleasant and professional people I have dealt with in a long time. They worked quickly and efficiently, were polite and Tremaine kept the biggest, most infectious smile on his face. If you have items to donate, I highly recommend calling the Foundry!
