The setting is peaceful and spiritual, creating a truly healing environment for clients and staff alike.
What stood out most was the caliber of their team—every person I met was deeply committed, highly skilled, and genuinely compassionate. Complex Trauma rears its ugly head without warning, oftentimes a slow boil over years. Choosing Sabino Recovery was the best decision I made to finally and thoroughly address the past so it can stop determining my future. The team of professional therapists, psychiatry, neurofeedback, naturopathy, sleep, somatic, and nursing all worked together to address the different areas needing treatment. It’s not one thing, it’s not one pill, it’s not one secret weapon. What Sabino has put together to treat C-PTSD is outstanding and has put me on the path to create a new life. Stop looking and call them.

Tucson, AZ | Sierra Tucson is a behavioral healthcare facility in Tucson, Arizona. They provide mental health and substance abuse treatment. Their campus is located on 160 acres of land, providing clients with various mountain and desert views. The facility has been in operation for over 40 years. Sierra Tucson’s approach to treating patients is to use a comb | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Sierra Tucson is a place of refuge and healing. I came here in February 2026. I worked hard with my professional team, using them and my process group, to unhinge the deep core of trauma that created such sadness, depression, and anxiety. It felt so freeing to heal here and unexplainable peace enveloped me.
The problem was that my professional team did not believe I was ready to go home. Despite their advice, I returned home, thinking I could handle things. I thought my own team of professionals could prevent me from disaster. I was wrong. At the beginning of May, I knew I needed to return to Sierra Tucson.
Today, at the beginning of June I am able to return home with my team of professionals’ blessing. In addition, I could not have done this without the help and support of my process group, I am leaving again, but this time I know my hard and painful work is done. I can leave proud of the person I have become—or actually the person I was so very long ago.
Thank you, Sierra Tucson, for saving my life not once, but twice. ❤️

I'm alive and doing well! just wanted to say hi to everyone here! you are all so awesome, i wish i could say hi and see how your all doing! i think about each one of you and how you gave your time and heart to me and others! i know its tough dealing with people like me and i want to say im super grateful for you.... i wish i could say hi to a specific a few but i dont want to leave anyone out. just know im so grateful for everyone of you.
I also wanted to say to everyone else that was here with me...I am really grateful for you too! more than you probably will ever know.
Of All the Stars and Planets in the universe, you are all like them to me. Like memories that cant be seen, it is the most important thing to me...why you would choose to truly save others can only mean one thing, that you are all good people! The miracle is you!
thank you

Life changing... as a disabled veteran who served on submarines, my PTSD, anxiety and depression had impacted every area of my life and all that I had built was disintegrating. I was at the point of despairing of my own life and tired of it all... until my psychiatrist and the VA helped me to get to Sierra Tucson (ST). The staff, modalities and the Red White and Blue (RWB) program at ST were so encompassing and caring. ST provided classes that filled the full gambit of psychological approaches, TMS, Ketamine therapy, Integrative services (incorporating healing of the nervous system and body), and moral injury, among other support and restorative methods. By far the gold for me was in the Process Group work, work with my Primary Therapist (Kris Davis), Psychodrama with Adena Bank Lees, Ketamine therapy and how the peer support system is setup as a whole. I have learned how to give place and support others in their feelings and beliefs and more importantly how to access, sit with, and integrate my own emotions. My inner critic is being freed to support me and show me what I fear, and now I am equipped to be present in that fear and authentically choose to act in truth and love. Don't get me wrong... no place is perfect and the staff is spread thin, yet the staff care and the structure is the best I have seen. Thank you ST for your support and for fostering and nurturing my healing and authentic identity. Forever grateful!

Went yesterday to visit someone for they're birthday. Visiting day is Sunday only. But since work prevents Sunday being available for us. And then the fact that it's a 4 hour drive each way. The staff made an exception. We were permitted to bring a cake. Which everyone, staff included had a serving. And gift's were given. I was pulled off to the side to discuss the situation with respect to the rest involved. Staff is helpful and friendly. And most of them seem to genuinely care about the clients. Excellent program. I am currently in their PHP and IOP program after finally recovering from a gnarly relapse. I’ve been to other treatment centers in my life, but this one has been the most helpful. Dave is an amazing group facilitator and therapist. He genuinely cares and provides a perspective that elicits change and healing. Catalina’s PHP/IOP program is group therapy, not just regular group. I have seen people make breakthroughs, and with help of Dave and the clients, I’ve made breakthroughs too. I’ve been given amazing support, I’ve been met where I’m at, and I’ve been able to work through trauma and life stressors in a way that surpasses my previous treatment experiences. If you are on the fence, just come to Catalina. Change is possible and Catalina will help you get there!

I was rather hesitant to seek treatment initially and Catalina was the first experience I had with this kind of facility. It ultimately turned out to be a really good decision. The general environment of the place puts one at ease, and the behavioral group therapy sessions are likewise very inviting and inclusive. A great safe space is cultivated here to make anyone feel comfortable and open to treatment. The IOP and PHP coordinator, Dave, is truly a cut above. He is encouraging, approachable, and very wise. He was able to connect with everyone in the room on some level and coax out the deeper underlying issues or rationales behind behavioral and addiction struggles. I can highly recommend the outpatient experience for anyone who may not have tried this kind of treatment before and might have reservations about it.

This place is fantastic and top notch for those that want the treatment and help. The food is good for a hospital type facility and will adjust to one’s diet requests. The place is clean with decent beds to sleep on. The staff is all great and can relate to recovery. I did the detox and 30 day residential and of course with any 30 day stay there’s good days and bad with food, rules, and organization from the staff, but overall they try hard and it met my expectations for having to be in treatment. They have arcade games, pool table, and air hockey and other things for entertainment when not in groups. The only complaint or suggestion, that I also told them, was that weekends are really slow and boring. They were make changes to help out weekends as I was leaving, and also understand that it was not always this way before Covid limited their options. Overall I would go back if I had to, but certainly hope not to for obvious reasons.

I love the VA medical center here. I feel I have been given excellent care. Everyone is nice and respectful. I’ve only lived in Tucson for less than a year but have had some medical problems and they have done a good job taking care of me. Plus they have an ER.
For primary care I use one of the VA satellite clinics. My PCP is Dr. Mikolajczak. I can’t pronounce his name well but he’s a great guy and a vet himself.
My dentist Dr. Berry is wonderful. My hand surgeon Dr Roa is the best. My audiologist Miss Erin is the nicest person ever! The ancillary staff is awesome. They even have a popcorn machine in the lobby and they have just about every clinic imaginable plus an optic shop & a store and several places to get food.
Yes, it’s hard to find parking close to the buildings but they have a tram. Yes, the buildings are a maze but they have volunteers everywhere to help you find where you need to go. If you’re walking down a hall & look confused invariably someone will stop you and ask if you need help.
You may read some complaints in the reviews but you need to look at the big picture. This is a large facility with people doing their best to help veterans. I much rather come here than go out on community care. I have been offered civilian referrals several times but I much rather wait to get seen at the VA.
Thank you Tucson VA.

My wife went to recovery in motion a few months ago and loved it. She is still clean today and plans to stay that way so they did something right.
