Taos, NM | Located in Taos, New Mexico, Shadow Mountain Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab center. Situated on 37 mountainous acres, this serene environment is a beautiful place to focus on recovery. This center offers detox and residential treatment for men. They also accept those who have a dual diagnosis. Shadow Mountain runs a 28 day intensive program. | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Easy to get in, but difficult changing habits and lifestyle when you are ready to move out and into a home wanting to get an actual job. If one person messes up, like drugs left around, everyone will be tested and no second tests will be done no matter what.
Personally, without the time I had at Fort Lyon, I think I'd still be in a dark world rolling around my addictions, so yeah, I'd say it's alright. But during my time I was struggling real bad with new onset diabetes and my blood sugar would always be through the roof high (over 500 most the time) which led to yeast in urinary tract and that will lead to a positive in alcohol if tested incorrectly. I went to the hospital twice in one month due to DKA. My counselours, the staff, whoever - they all knew. They still kicked me out because "I was lying" saying I wasn't drinking. Because I wasn't.
Holding onto resent because such a "wonderful" sober living should not be so stressful and difficult. Hope all is well for those living there now.

This is not from MY experience, but a friend's recent stay, I think others should know about this place in advance!
It turns out that this place--for being a treatment center--picks their favorites (residents) and singles out the newcomers to mess with!?
If a resident that's been there longer feels intimidated, jealous, or any other petty way by a new resident, they go out of their way to set-up trouble just to blame it on the new guy, to get them kicked out!
It doesn't stop with the residents either, because some staff members will target them too; they even lie just to side with the trouble makers!
This kind of behavior is unacceptable! Especially considering that it's a place for helping people with addiction or homelessness, to get clean and find work and housing! They should NOT be that way! Everybody is supposed to be treated equally! THERE ARE OTHER PLACES TO GO FOR THIS SORT OF HELP, I RECOMMEND A LOOK INTO THOSE PLACES PRIOR TO FT LYON!

I was greated by staff and treated like a human being from all the staff. I mean it is a rehab it's not summer camp. Everyday wasn't sunshine and rose's. The morning meditation down to the one on one with my counselor " straight to the point and no BS!" This was and I hope my only time going. I wanted to wait a year before i left a review about my experience at Vista, and here we are. I am 1 year and 1 month sober !! When i first came to the facility i was in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I fought the treatment for weeks before i saw that i was actually getting better. I found my higher power in this place and my life has changed in dramatic ways. I have no urge whatsoever to return to my previous way of life and i must give the credit to Vista. I want to thank all of the people there for helping me see things differently. God is all around this place if you recognize the many signs.

I completed the 30-day program at Vista Taos and had an amazing experience and met a lot of great people during my stay. I have been in other treatment centers and Vista Taos is by far the best! JD was my therapist and had great knowledge and experience when it came to relapse prevention, identifying triggers and learning about the disease of addiction as well as tapping into trauma and trauma response actions. If you're looking for a rehab that works, this is the place to go. The environment is serene and peaceful. Weekly outings, 5-star meals, off-site meetings, individual therapy, queen sized comfy beds, full bathrooms with tubs or standing showers all accommodated for a comfortable stay for me while I was being rehabilitated for Methamphetamines and Alcohol. The staff was kind and respectful towards my needs and gave great inspiration and encouragement during my stay. Vista Taos is by far the best rehab in New Mexico. If you're searching for yourself or a loved one, this is the place to go. Don't hesitate, make the call now!

I attended their inpatient addiction treatment program, Crestone Residential Treatment Services (CRTS) in 2019-2020. This was the best experience I've had at a treatment center. Their entire staff was nothing but supportive and helpful time and time again (Carol was my fave 😁), and their way of showing each of their patients that they were genuinely invested in each of us and our success seemed effortless, second nature. I stayed for 60 days and didn't have a single negative experience that entire time (except for when Shah's Kababs came around again on the meal schedule and the staff decided to order from a different place knowing I was counting down the days before I could order another Falafel Sandwich.... But I guess we can leave it in the past)
I'm only leaving a comment now because I've been recommending CRTS Everytime I discuss treatment with a friend ever since and when i needed inpatient again last year I tried to reach out but never got a response and one friend was told they had closed. . So if this is correct can you guys please remove it from your list of provided services or add a note about how CRTS is no longer offered, or any type of clear confirmation? I've searched the internet for hours on at least 3 different occasions looking for something. I never get called back when leaving messages.

Canon City, CO | Abraxas Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center is a residential treatment center located in Canon City, Colorado, that offers specialized behavioral health programs for adolescents ages 10 to 18 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, psychological, educational, or social problems. Abraxas Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center offers resi | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I wasn’t an easy kid. I was angry, depressed, and carrying years of trauma and abuse. I had been on probation since I was 11, in and out of juvenile detention, cutting off ankle monitors, trafficking narcotics — pretty much everything you could think of. At 15, I got in serious trouble and was sent out of state to Southern Peaks.
I can’t speak on how Southern Peaks runs today, and I’m not giving five stars because of the treatment plans or the structure of the program. I’m giving five stars because of the floor staff.
I don’t know who is still there now, but the staff I had completely changed my life — Rob, AJ, Trina, Brandon, Adelma, Jeremy and a few others I can’t name off the top of my head. And of course, the youth on my unit (who I won’t name for privacy).
Was the program hard? Absolutely. Did I struggle some days? Yes. Did I AWOL? Yes.
Did I see some crazy youth? Yes. IDK if i’m just thick skinned but a lot of it motivated me to turn my life around, motivated me by showing me the path i was headed and giving me the shove elsewhere.
But because of my floor staff, who sat and went through it with me, I healed in ways I never thought were possible. They supported me, built real connections with me, and many of them shared pieces of their own stories to help me work through mine.
Everyone will have their own experiences, and I can’t vouch for the current staff. But because of the SPRTC floor staff I had, I now have a life worth living — a career, a car, my own apartment, and I’m continuing my college education.
Take what you want from this

Our 17 year old daughter just came home from spending 4 months at Southern Peaks in Canon City for repeated suicidal ideation/attempts. I was really nervous about sending her there after reading Google reviews, but it’s the only place in the state that Medicaid covers, so we didn’t have a choice. We were really happy with the facility and staff. They’ve been going through a lot of good changes in 2025, and the staff seemed to genuinely care about the kids. Her time there gave our family the break we desperately needed from the stress of trying to keep her safe all the time, and she did learn and grow and stabilize (hopefully). They have a detailed pillar system and therapy curriculum the kids work through as they progress, and they get weekly individual therapy and weekly family therapy via zoom. The bad part is that they spend 24/7 surrounded by the most mentally ill kids in the state, and the kids definitely have a very negative effect on one another. There’s no getting around that. But overall I still think it was the right call for our family.

Hi Y'all!
I was a former client from 2016-2018, admitted 3x & honestly as an adult now I can admit I kept coming back partially because I liked yall and because I just blatantly wasn't ready to change. Some staff definitely filled a family like void that I craved for a long time. Idk how things are NOW but when I was there, Y'all tried your best & I could tell. I appreciate every last one of you for molding me into the Mom & Adult I am now! I wasn't the easiest to deal with, actually I was a shithead lol & unfortunately one of the worst kids y'all have dealt with but y'alls patience & care for me never withered. I was here from the old handbook to the new & although some things could have been dealt with better, you guys are dealing with unwell and troubled kids from all backgrounds (Behavioral, Se*ual, Abuse in all ways) and some of you have gone above and beyond for us.
I hope y'all can help other kids as you did me!

Th | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I like to leave high star reviews just in hopes maybe someone will actually realize it’s about wanting change and not ruining a business chance at it by affecting their overall ratings. I agree with the comment; “The clinicians are either great or terrible…” ABSOLUTELY. The front desk is cold 98% of the time, has a way of making you feel like an absolute waste of space, time, and effort……Now if this was an Arby’s, or maybe even an eye dr, honestly I’d probably move about my day. But this is MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. The thought of having people with god awful bedside manner when you’re in such a time of need & vulnerability is absolutely infuriating. Some of us are crippled by social interaction, especially phone calls/confrontation, the least you could expect is someone with more than a monotone voice and dead look in their eyes. Maybe it’s because the fronts & and clinicians are properly medicated/regulated so they come across with no form of emotion….Lapsing on meds, no call backs for days/weeks. I won’t list my dr quite yet in hopes there is progress made. These are quite literally peoples lives you are playing with, if you only have a textbook perception of these disorders, maybe it’s time to look at a different industry.

Much has changed in the Clinic in the past 6 months or so, especially an increase in medical professionals and the overall quality of care. Also, the staff are employees of "Primary Care Solutions" (home-based in Dallas, TX) and not the VA, so they are probably less vulnerable to the personnel cuts and service disruptions that the VA is experiencing. Finally, I find the staff at the clinic to be as as caring and competent as the VA employees at the Albuquerque Regional VA Hospital.

Amazing staff, incredibly compassionate! Recovery Campus is a huge help when you're just taking off in your recovery and have basically nothing left to start with. Everyone there treats you with respect and dignity instead of seeing you as a junkie or an alcoholic. They have counselors trained in this cool thing called EMDR that is wonderful if you have trauma in your past that you still find hard to cope with. Trinda, Sandy and Heidi were fantastic supports for me but there are others that are just as skilled and experienced that can help you too if out patient treatment is what you're looking for. I have learned so much about myself and have gained the skills I need to be successful in my recovery. Thanks to RMBH!

There's a lot of humanity here. The staff are a bit disorganized in how they approach us and what they expect of us but this place got me clean and sober and now I have six months! I wouldn't have changed anything for the world. These people truly care about you they just have interesting ways of showing it sometimes.

This was the program that my daughter needed to recover from substance abuse.
She began using at a young age and needed to learn the skills and techniques to live drug free again.
She is over two years clean, has a family of her own and has a job as a Vet Tech. Her dream job ❣️
Thank you Crossroads for giving me back my daughter.
