It has all the amenities you could ask for, with resources to get every aspect of your life back on track. The management and staff cares about you, and that's important when trying to better yourself. They really give you an upper hand. I hope I don't need to, but I would recommend anyone to stay here to get their life back on track, and I would again in a heartbeat. 6 years ago After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House. 6 years ago After being in and out of many different rehabs, it was at Westport House that I learned how to live a brand new life. The staff was kind, loving, and compassionate. They showed me the way up and out of the horrible rut I was in. They also helped my family understand addiction, and what they needed to do to help me, and themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and the incredibly supportive! Being able to see their therapists and clinical team was also essential in aiding my recovery. I'm so grateful for the life Westport House gave me. 6 years ago	6 6

I will say that it's more for people with drug/alcohol issues because her problems were more anxiety and depression related rather than substance but a lot of the discussions and focus were on ways to stay sober. But some of the strategies and coping skills were very useful to her and has helped her in her recovery. The therapists there were caring and gained her trust to the point that even now she sometimes misses the camaraderie and support she felt there. My daughter was admitted here on 6/1/26 for suicidal thoughts and substance abuse, and discharged on 6/10/26 North 2 for the older kids. We had taken her to the hospital by where we live for a evaluation and St. Vincent's was the only open bed they could find for a teen, so i went and researched it and all the 1 star reviews had me thinking I was making a huge mistake letting her be transferred here. I am very glad we went through with it. The staff were always helpful whenever I called. I drove the hour and 30 minutes there everyday to see her and make sure she was safe because the reviews had me thinking the worst. Not once did I ever feel like my daughter was in harms way here. The Dr. there was very helpful and always kept me up to date on everything and always made sure to include me in the treatment of my daughter. They helped us find a medicine that actually works for her. My daughter came home looking forward to life again. We've had some ups and downs since she was discharged but her feeling like she needs to end her life has not been one of them. It's always scaring having to watch your daughter be transfer to a inpatient mental hospital, but watching her slowly coming back to life over the 10 days she was there was all worth it. I guess what I am saying is give this place a chance it is nowhere as bad as the reviews say it is. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient and the PT assistants are professional in every way. The most important reason I keep going back is that the PT or OT is with you the entire time. You have their undivided attention for the whole session. It is only afterwards that the assistant gives you electrical stimulation and ice. The therapists are great also. (Marjorie, Emily and Joe). Their care and attention towards me was constant, deep, and real. They really provide the peace and atmosphere that allowed the Doctors and I to do incredible amounts of work and healing. The Doctors too were incredible, talented, and providing a very high standard of care. Food was amazing (yes it's hospital food, adjust your expectations a bit). I had steak, burritos, pho, Thai, lasagna, pasta, bbq, burgers, and more. Across 6 weeks I think they only repeated a dish 4-6 times. And there's a salad bar and panetta/sandwich bar every meal. Many kids ate grilled cheese every meal instead of grown-up food and vegetables, so I would take their complaints with a pinch of salt, hah. Reading the other reviews is amusing. Bear in mind the complaints are coming from sick people, and it is frustrating to not find a silver bullet for very real and severe illnesses. Some people enter thinking this is a spa vacation. It is not. Your healing will require you to do work on yourself as well. The more you invest in the process the more long term success you will realize (I am not a Doctor, but my peers who invested in recovery had similar progress to myself) Mason J 2 weeks ago Silver Hill took me in when I was at the lowest point in my life. There were the usual tiny wrinkles that comes with being in a hospital system but overall it was a wonderful hospital that has a lot of different specialties. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond for the patients. This was my one and hopefully only experience, but I am incredibly grateful that I chose Retreat (New Haven). My therapist was PHENOMENAL! If you are willing to do the work, commit to yourself that YOU are worth the time & energy needed that it takes to truly recover, and remain sober then I highly recommend you give Retreat a try.
