Valley Hope of Atchison provides a semi private residential recovery environment in a relaxed and rural setting near the Missouri River. They’re located in Atchison, Kansas, just 35 miles north of the Kansas City airport off I-435 and minutes from the Amelia Earhart Museum. They serve adults over 18 including veterans and active service members.
Not gonna lie, these folks save lives. Their experience shows through their authenticity, understanding, and most of all, they really care about every single person who has the courage to walk through the door. The nurses, chaplains, psychiatrist, small group leaders, counselors, admins, kitchen staff, housekeeping provide wrap around care like you’ve never seen. You may have never felt so safe and supported. In a word, “phenomenal”.

I've tried a few methadone clinics, this one is the best I've seen. They do have a few rules that seem rather stupid, but they have gov oversight, so ya have to deal with that kind of BS anywhere you go. They are definitely the nicest and the friendliest out of all the ones T have been to. Update... the staff that you interact with i.e. the counclers and the nurses are definitely very nice and appear to be honestly intrested in the clients wellbeing, however it took a few months...like 6 or 8 months for the office staff to get my VA insurance worked out and I had to pay cash in the meantime. That was over 2 years ago and they still have not re-embersed a single Penney however I verified with the Va the were paid twice once by me and once by the Va. Should be a law against that sort of thing. I believe it is called fraudulent billing.... If they end up owning you money don't expect to see it soon...however if you owe them and can not pay the will start detoxing you, they did to me when I told them I get paid in 3 days ... they detoxed me for those 3 days. Good luck if you have no other options.

Great place. Great counclers. Clean. They have clean bathrooms. Very friendly staff. They have the new check in mobile system so it saves your spot in line. They are fair. Some of the rules are a little silky but they don't set those, Corporate does. So it's not the staffs fault at this location. They probably saved my life. The doctors is very helpful and understanding. She listens. The nurse is a godsend. And the counclers are top of the line.

Today I had a surgical procedure done at Mosaic, and I want to talk about the care I received, because, WOW. The nurse who walked me back after check-in was named Wendy. Yes, like the restaurant. She made sure we all knew that 😅. She was genuinely funny, kind, and made sure I was settled and comfortable right away. The nurse who started my IV and took care of me before surgery also had an excellent sense of humor, which I desperately needed because I was pretty nervous. She looked over my chart and casually reminded me that since I had a way more serious operation done three weeks ago, this recovery would be nothing like that. Bless her for that alone. I already knew the surgeon, Dr. Amspacher, was fantastic because I have met him a couple of times, but he still took the time to stop in, mark everything, check in with me, and make sure my husband and I felt good about the plan and had no questions. Calm, confident, and reassuring. The anesthesiology team deserves a special shout-out. Three weeks ago, when I went under anesthesia, I panicked right beforehand because no one was talking to me. They were just…putting me under. This time, I asked that someone talk to me. Whoever the anesthesiologist’s assistant was, I am terrible with names, he absolutely showed up. In the OR, he could tell I was still anxious, so he held my hand 😭. That is the last thing I remember. Less than an hour later, I woke up in recovery with a gentle nurse who made sure I was comfortable and reunited me with my husband as quickly as possible. I may not remember everyone’s name, but every single person who cared for me today deserves recognition. The compassion, professionalism, and humanity I experienced were incredible. They answered their calling, and this patient is beyond impressed.

I been going to them for a very long time. They help my son and husband. However, ever since the med Dr left and my son got a new one, it seems like they do not return calls or anything. My son takes a med that can't be refilled. His old med Dr would do a 3 months script so he wouldn't run out. I called last week, pharmacy sent them something last week and nothing. This med he takes is important and he has been out since Saturday. I like their services but now I wonder if I need to find another Dr to do the meds. Very frustrating. Hands down on therapy services and everything.

Many have found freedom from addiction at Sunflower Recovery, an addiction treatment center in Osawatomie, Kansas. I cannot speak highly enough about Sunflower Recovery Center and their 90-day treatment program. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt a genuine sense of care and professionalism. The program is well-structured, with a perfect balance of therapy and support to live a healthy life in recovery. What truly sets Sunflower apart, though, is the incredible leadership of Katie, the Executive Director. Katie is more than just a director—she’s a passionate advocate for each individual’s recovery journey. She takes the time to personally connect with clients, offering encouragement, guidance, and even a listening ear when needed. Her dedication to the well-being of everyone in the program is clear, and it’s evident that she cares deeply about our success, both during the program and after. I never felt like I was just another client; Katie and her team ensured I had the tools and resources I needed to build a strong foundation for my sobriety. I never felt judged, but instead felt supported and encouraged every step of the way. The holistic approach to healing—addressing mental, emotional, and physical well-being—made all the difference in my recovery. Under Katie’s guidance, the program is not just a one-size-fits-all approach; it’s personalized and thoughtfully crafted to address the specific needs of each individual. I am forever grateful for the entire Sunflower team for helping me take the first steps toward lasting sobriety. Sunflower is a place where you’re not just another client—you’re a person who matters.

My husband went through the independence center over 30 years ago. He did relapse after the first 3 months but he did not attend any aftercare or AA. Within a year he started going to AA and has been sober for almost 35 years. My son has also been through the independence center twice with varied success. He has had relapses but maintained sobriety for the majority of the time. He has used the tools he learned there to get sober again after relapsing without having to reenter treatment. The program will work for you if your honest with yourself and do the work. Good luck and god bless!

When you are ready, you are ready. I did three rehabs in the span of three summers and I’ve been sober a year and a half since going to the Independence Center. The ENTIRE staff wass genuinely interested in my recovery. Of course it’s up to me how honest I want to be with my counselor, Chaplin and myself (and God), but their unwavering encouragement doesn’t hurt and it didn’t. The facility is much better than others I’ve been to in Nebraska and they keep the distracting extracurricular horseplay to minimum.
