This place has been amazing my counselor Robin Keeton is truly amazing and cares for her clients they have case managers both of them Leslie and the other woman I’m not sure her name have been there for my family when everyone couldn’t or wouldn’t help us they have helped us with all resources food clothing animal help any and everything and the Peer Support specialist David Prembble is just as great he has came and got us for appointments when our car went down and helped with our car and is there any time of the day to be a listening ear and to provide any and all help available to him 10/10 recommend love these people and this place they are truly AMAZING!!!

I have been helped in a very difficult situation when crisis services were utilized. I really appreciate the way Justa and Tara handled the hard conversations with my family member and for the understanding my husband and I felt directed toward us at that time. Moving forward, I am definitely going to establish ongoing counseling and medication management services with Comprehend. No system is perfect, but so far so good.

I have been attending therapy sessions with Dr. Alicia Moran. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful she is. I will say that our sessions are not always easy - she consistently challenges me to think differently, alas, allowing room for growth.... if I so choose to rise to the challenge and not allow myself to wallow in a victimized mindset. My marriage was a wreck. I had been to other counselors in the area. I just didn’t see any positive results from the level of care that I was receiving. I felt hopeless and that my marriage was over. A friend of mine could see my struggles and asked me to give New Hope counselors a try. I had never heard of them before. With nothing to lose, I made an appointment and am so thankful that I did. I have been going for a while now and life is getting better. There is still work to do, but I am getting better. My marriage is getting better. The kids are not as distant from me as they were before. My counselor really connected with me. They explained hard truths to me so that I could understand them and accept them to begin healing myself and my family. I really felt a personal connection at New Hope and I believe that is what helped me the most. I felt like my counselor was really interested in me and my situation. Not just treating me the same as everyone coming in their door.

I've never been to a better medical facility. The staff actual care and do everything they can do to help you in whatever situation you have. I've been going here a few years now and have never seen anyone mistreated. The only thing I have seen is people trying to take advantage and the staff, obviously, having to tell someone no, their request isn't possible. There are strict rules and laws and no one should expect the staff to break them.

Dr Katz is the best! I’ve never felt I could actually be myself and open up to a doctor like I have her. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with doctors in the past, but I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Shawnee family health. They are all very friendly and I just love my doctor so much she’s the best. She truly cares about her patience all these other negative comments on here. I don’t see that there I’ve seen it many other places, but not here so don’t listen to the negative negative comments if you wanna know, go in person and make your own opinion and I about guarantee it’ll be a good one. I feel the people leaving bad reviews are just doing so because they didn’t get the medication they wanted or something. I’ve never had any kind of issues with them whatsoever and I drive a very far distance just to see Dr. Katz because I love her so much and I know I’m not gonna find another psychiatrist that I feel that comfortable with so thank you Dr. Katz for being a wonderful doctor a caring doctor and so real and down to earth and thank you for caring about me. I’ve been going to this clinic for over a decade for severe mental illness and as my primary care provider. As a long term patient there, I know most of the staff by name. I have a lot of love and respect for the staff especially my doctor Deborah Katz, they treat you like family. They care about your health and wellbeing. The negative comments on here are just Karen’s and Kevin’s complaining because they have nothing else to do with their lives. I recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone I know. I refuse to see another clinic.

Update: 526 days sober and going strong. I have definitely had cravings and vulnerable points, but have managed to stay sober thanks in large part to the ridge.
I'm at 8 months sober today and can say that the things I learned at the Ridge still help me every day- literally. I am still in the aftercare program and getting a lot out of it. If you need help this is a great place to build a foundation for sobriety (and abstinence from other drugs as well).
Summary: The Ridge is an excellent comprehensive treatment program for alcohol use disorder (and others). I personally had an exceptional experience with the residential treatment program, intensive outpatient therapy, and aftercare. Nothing about this experience was easy but I am confident that due to my experience with The Ridge I have a solid recovery foundation (I am just over 4 months sober currently).

-access to a wide variety of recreational activities and art and music therapy classes
-I felt prepared when I left and have continued to feel that way (it has been difficult but I have the tools)
-staff are compassionate and helpful; many are in recovery themselves

- comfortable accomodations and excellent food
My advice if you are going to a program like The Ridge (these things helped me to have continued success today)
-follow the rules, yes they may seem silly
-do awkward things they ask like getting a temporary sponsor and numbers at meetings
-listen to their advice, they may says things that sound stupid,my experience is that the things I think sound stupid end up being the pertinent ones
-try to relax into the time; enjoy not having to do a ton of chores, cook for yourself etc
-take the time to build a new hobby
I electected to go to The Ridge when I came to terms with the fact that I have an alcohol use disorder. I was receiving psychiatric care and my provider gently led me to acknowledge this. Two providers independently recommended The Ridge when I expressed interest in treatment.
Residential
I initially signed up for the 30 day program but decided to stay longer as I was getting a lot out of the program and am really happy that I did.
Residential days are very full. The beginning of the day is filled with groups. The afternoon has time for recreational activities (no naps). A lot of people take up pickleball during this time but there is also the option to go to the pool (when open), do art, write, etc. Evenings there are 12 step meetings in the community.
Accomodations
I stayed in a private room which I would say was Marrott quality. Cleaning services are provided. You are expected to make your bed (a pretty minor thing). The meals are excellent and snacks are freely available. The culinary staff are great- very personable and great educators. It was sufficiently comfortable and quiet enough to get quality sleep.
Nursing
Nursing staff were generally available and very helpful. Medication time windows could be a bit tight but were feasible.
Recovery support specialist staff
Recovery support specialists helped with sessions, daily questions, and herding everyone, They all have different personalities but in general were very easy to get along with. Supervisory staff were very helpful and responsive.
Counselors
Generally had very helpful sessions, individual counseling was very helpful.

The staff is so nice and very polite and they go out of the way to help you try to get whatever you need if you need a social worker if you need a mental health counselor, any doctors appointments they strive to help you get back on your feet. The counselors are amazing. They’re a genuinely care and they genuinely want to help overall I love Brightview. I’ve been going here for a few years. This is one of the top drug and alcohol centers. Shepherds Shelter is an amazing program It is life changing to anyone who is willing to accept Christ into their life. I am now approaching 2 years of sobriety after going through this program. It has not only turned everything around in my life I would go as far as saying it saved me from myself and the life I settled for in addiction. I have been working as peer support since completing treatment, and am well on my way to obtaining an associates degree in Human Services. The treatment offered here and God have done many things for me I would never have done for myself. I not only recommend this program to anyone still suffering through active addiction to consider treatment through Shepherds Shelter but I encourage them to take that first step in surrendering to God and welcoming Christ into their lives by reaching out to this facility. I have been connected to this ministry for over 15 years and I have been able to see the consistency to not only minister against the enemy of addiction but they build deep relationship roots of Jesus Christ in the individual. They do not work for a six month program but they work for a life partnership to always be there for the individual even after the program is finished. Hello my name is Michael and I am family. I remember the first time I said this because it is the way we introduce ourselves at shepherds shelter. To be honest I didn't want to say it and didn't believe it. After 26 years of drug abuse I was anything but family by the world's standard I was Labeled as a drug addict junkie, thief, convict, liar, user and a list of names I'd rather not mention. But as I soon learned from pastor " it's not what people call you that matters it's what you answer to" I'm proud to say that today I am 2 1/2yrs sober a man of God because of the love and mercy that was shown to me through all shepherds shelter staff and especially Pastor and momma. Before coming to Shepherds Shelter I spent almost the last 10yrs of my life sleeping on the street. I seen nights I have literally almost froze to death. Spent 10 years in prisons and jails and seen no kind of hope for anything good I soon found myself back in jail , so I begged for rehab. Honestly my intention was just to get out of jail but that all changed in a Saturday night church service as I hit my knees to pray. I didn't pray some fancy prayer or make any deals I simply submitted I told God I don't know what I'm doing I obviously don't know how to live life please show me. Boy was I in for a game changer. The more I leaned into what was being taught there the more I started to see and feel change in my life. I truly became family and was treated as such. The values and morals that have been instilled in me from shepherds shelter have forever changed not only my life but every life I come in contact with. I am no longer that list of terrible names. Staff are angels and all of them truly care about your well being, and want to see you thrive. Sadly theres only one doctor there and they work once a week, and they're quite a bit stingy with certain medications (Like amphetamines for ADHD and Benzos for panic disorder). I love this place! The staff are all incredibly sweet. They have snacks & hot chocolate for when you’re in the induction room waiting on meds or your first time starting mat. They have either intensive outpatient or regular outpatient. The decision is based on the care they believe you need to succeed in your journey. Everyone is different. If you choose to do mat or come for groups/therapy, that’s your choice. As long as you’re not here from either jail or court. For me, I come once every week & I will soon go down yo bi weekly & then monthly. You have the option here to see a psychiatrist, which in my opinion is just great. Not all of us can find resources that work in our favor where they’re all in the same building. They work with your schedule & needs. Please take the time to give this place a try if it’s your first time seeking help for outpatient care. They are genuinely friendly & helpful. I’ve been going here for a month & I feel like this time around I’ve made transformations. We are all in this together! Get the help you need!

Just took away a star because of how every time you need something and call and I needed to speak to my counselor for a minute has nothing to do with her but they want to know and ask and get rude if you don't tell them your private information that is supposed to be confidential..... It's understandable that they're trying to see if they can help with anything. But to keep prying to try to find out what it is about etc. Is not okay. Counselors and are the ones that, "need to know", why i need to speak with them. Period.

Yesterday was my first time visiting the VA and had an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, the Doctor took her time with my visit and explained all the different benefits the VA has to offer. I was in this program in 2013 and even though it was not an immediate cure the people there gave you a wonderful start for healing. They were very caring and providing in every aspect.. Even at this late date, not cured but so much better off and grateful for having been there in that program.
