Besides the scenic location and the beautiful, clean house, the staff are incredible. They're awesome. They are life savers. Chris Mills (therapist) sets the tone - he ensures that the atmosphere of recovery is maintained. Without that we would all just be 'doing time' there. He is the de facto spiritual leader and I thank God that I have had the oppurtunity to learn from his demonstration. Ashleigh (therapist) has extensive experience of staying clean no matter what and transforming her life into something beautiful. She radiates that. I wish we all would see Rich (administrator) more as he is a spiritual master. Incredibley accessible spiritual wisdom he has. He can make difficult concepts about recovery easily digestible. Chris J (head supervisor) can make even the most desperate addict smile and want to take recovery serious. You cant help but know he understands the worst of the worst and doesnt judge. He just wants us all to recover. The recovery coaches are personable, friendly and funny but also hold us accountable and guide us in our recovery through their own experience. Thank you Ethan, Roger, Dylan, Daryl, Ryan, Noah, Tony, Led, Hunter and Bryant. The medical staff are just as wonderful. Theyre part of the family you become when there. The therapists are probably the best part about the place, but all of the staff genuinely want to help you. It's in a very secluded place so it's nearly impossible to leave to use. Unlike most other places it's a big mansion with half the people upstairs and half downstairs. I stayed upstairs and the A/C was almost too good in the summer. It probably stayed 62 degrees up there. The staff here including the entire treatment team, has taken a personal interest in my development in a way that no other organization ever has. The services here are outstanding, and the curriculum is second to none. It’s rare that you find an organization that LIVES & BREATHES its mission statement, in every single thing that they do. After years of struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorder, I now feel more free than ever, and best of all, I have the skills, knowledge, and positive habits to STAY free. Ehren Smith 2 weeks ago This is my second time at Roaring Brook, and honestly, when I relapsed after two years of sobriety, I refused to go anywhere else. I’m from Michigan, so choosing to come all the way back to Kentucky says a lot about how much I trust this place and the people here. I knew that if I was going to get serious about my recovery again, Roaring Brook was where I wanted to be. Coming back a second time has only reinforced how grateful I am for this program. Relapse was incredibly difficult for me to accept after having two years of sobriety, but Roaring Brook gave me a place where I could be honest about where I was at, work through what happened, and actually focus on rebuilding my recovery instead of feeling judged for it. This time around, I was also able to participate in TRP (Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program), and it has made such a huge difference in my recovery. TRP has given me the opportunity to work through traumas that I hadn’t fully dealt with and understand how those experiences have affected me and my recovery. I’ve also learned actual coping skills that I can use when things get difficult instead of turning back to old behaviors. It has been a really important part of my healing and has helped me understand myself on a much deeper level. My experience with my therapist, Jarrod, has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve gotten so much out of treatment. He is genuinely one of the smartest and most thorough therapists I’ve ever worked with. He doesn’t just listen to respond — he really takes the time to understand what I’m saying, asks questions that make me think, and helps me connect the dots in ways I wouldn’t have been able to on my own. I’ve learned so much from working with him, and I’m incredibly grateful for the work he’s done with me. I’m also incredibly grateful for Alison, who manages the sober living I’m in. She is absolutely amazing. She genuinely cares about the people in the house and goes above and beyond to make sure we have the support, structure, and accountability we need. Having that continued support outside of treatment has made a huge difference for me. What stands out most about Roaring Brook is that I never feel like I’m just another person going through a program. There are people here who genuinely care about my recovery and want to see me succeed. Being willing to travel from Michigan back to Kentucky for treatment, especially after a relapse, was a huge decision, but I know I made the right one. I’ll always be grateful that Roaring Brook was there for me not only the first time I got sober, but also when I needed help finding my way back. Rules. They feed you well while there too. And the case manager is amazing, she helped me out big time with some court stuff that I was dealing with. It's also a smaller more intimate setting. I have been stuck in the never ending cycle of treatment for six years now. I have been to countless places that baby you and coddle you to death and focus on teaching people how to simply think better but never focus on the application of new behavior. Luckily, Liberty Ranch is much more focused on teaching people how to actually act better. If you want to turn your life around for good come to The Liberty Ranch and they will be your best bet to making a life long change. I am a year sober and have found some serenity and joy in life I believe that is in big part due to The Ranch and the people that run it. It is different than your average "cookie cutter" treatment. They deal with the real underlying issues and character defects that keep us in relapse mode.
