I spoke with a very nice lady that explained there services clearly. I've come to the conclusion that that 2 bad reviews were somewhat out of line. I gave them 5 stars. ✌️ WCH. 10 months ago I've been going to mental health places all my life. Most I've had bad experiences at. I recently moved here and gave them a call on a bad day asking for services. I was greeted with kind and calming voices and some awesome ladies who understood the help I needed. After 12 years of long-term recovery, I relapsed and found myself in the darkest place I’ve ever been…including a suicide attempt. I came in broken, lost, and unsure if I even wanted to keep going. I cried EVERYDAY!! What I found here was something I never experienced growing up, real love, real care, and people who genuinely see you. From the kitchen staff to the therapists, every single person on site showed up with compassion, patience, and intention. They didn’t just treat the addiction, they helped me uncover and begin to heal the deep trauma I had never addressed. It felt like I did 4 years of therapy in 4 weeks. No exaggeration. It was intense, it was uncomfortable, but it was absolutely worth every second. Thank you to Shera, Saben, all of the therapists, and everyone who pours into this place daily. My son had to come here for some help and let me tell you, the staff was ALWAYS courteous, polite, and professional when my wife called to check on our son. They also called daily to provide status updates on him on his progress. When my wife would call later that day for another update or clarification on an update, the staff never got upset or hateful, always helpful and courteous and provided the information needed. Our son was so happy on the phone calls when we spoke to him on the phone, you could tell he was being treated like a human being and not a statistic. They have been life savers to me on days they didn’t even realize it! I can’t say enough good about Dr. Stocking, Lara the NP, Mick, and James. The office staff is exceptional as well and my wife and I are always treated with kindness and respect. We moved here from the Cental City area and was with a clinic down there that we THOUGHT was good, now we know how a clinic is supposed to be ran and we would never accept anything else and my point is not to run another facility in the ground but to just warn others that they are worthy of the correct kind of care! Being in active addiction is a hell I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but recovery is achievable with the correct kind of help, with people who are going to challenge you and hold you accountable. I don’t doubt one bit that my team at Applegate would help me navigate anything that would come my way in the line of a setback or a life event or a even a relapse (something I hope would never happen, but it always is a possibility if you understand the disease of addiction), I have full faith that they would assist me in any way they could! Of, course like all patients, I've had a bad appointment or two over the years but, I just try to remind myself that everyone/every business can have hectic/bad days and yes... BUSY OFFICES such as this are gonna have a few hiccups. But I do not like the ever changing staff, its getting more solid now, and the counselors are amazing. Caleb and Jamie are my favorite! I know... I shouldn't say favorites but of all the counselors I've been through, they are by far the best. And of course, the Suboxone works for me (with it's bad side effects aside... that's not on the office ) Spero Health is great. So.. when reading these reviews because your looking for help, just remember when you see the bad reviews (ie: "THIS PLACE SUCKS! STAFF IS SO RUDE! THEY FORGOT ME IN THE WAITING ROOM!" That staff sees a lot of patients everyday and some are having the worst day ever... bare with them! They will get to you and will help you anyway they can. So, if you're looking for a place that will help you get clean and sober and support the entire way, THIS IS THE PLACE. Nothing about recovery is easy! As addicts, we know this. But this staff will get to know you and help you the best way possible. One day, one minute, one second at a time! This journey is hard but the staff, physicians and counselors will get you through it! The other side is AMAZING! Why are you here? What do you want..?!" kinda face... lol!🙃 Ugh that's the worst! No worries for that when you walk into any of the Cumberland Mental Health offices! I can assure you of that!😉 Front desk staff are always so sweet, helpful, & get you checked in in a timely organized fashion.. No chaos, confusion , or waiting to be seen for hours past your appointment time.. I can say in all honesty I've never had to wait longer then 10 to 15mins at the most to be called back. That's a huge deal for us mommy's, working moms (& dads), or all humans in general.. We all have things to do, & places to be.. So sitting in a doctor's office waiting room is never ideal for anyone. At the same time, things do happen & I always understand when a Dr. or therapist is running behind one day or overflowed with patients/appts.. I get it. They're doing their jobs & they're doing it to the best of their ability to help all of us. So for me personally. So to wrap this up... I personally love Cumberland Mental Health & all their staff. Not just my provider... the secatorial ladies, the nurse, the therapist/case workers who never fail to always take a few minutes to tlk with me, ask me if I'm doing well, or if I need anything! The staff is always courteous and kind, very flexible with scheduling, and the case workers really do their jobs by finding you the best care options for your budget, insured or not, which I am not. When I arrived in TN last year I was technically unemployed and homeless for the most part. They have managed my medications, provided CBT ( cognitive behavioral therapy) bi-weekly, and arranged for UBER/Lyft rides to get me to and from scheduled appointments.
