My experience was back in November. My husband was brought in with an appendix which burst. The Dr Noursfar said I should call the family. I knew then it was a very serious situation. My husband has undying condition that complicated things. The nurses on that night was beyond expectation. They were so attentive. They knew once he went upstairs I didn't know who was taking him from the emergency room. They called the nurse upstairs and they introduced her to me. I felt so comfortable and eased my fears a little bit more. The surgery took 5 hours. Every time I went upstairs to the surgery unit the girls met me with a smile. Finally, they sent him downstairs. The nurses, Dr Noursfar deserve a gold star! My husband came out that surgery but the Dr saw something he thought we should get checked out and again. He was right. My husband had lung cancer and is in remission. He's not 100% out of the woods. We are doing immunotherapy. Again, I'm proud of our hospital and the people who work there! Thank you!

Most of the staff are extremely helpful and really do care! The unfortunate part is like many others have experienced, they try to cram so much information in your head in 28 days that s it s almost impossible to retain any of it after the first week or two. I don t remember much of my stay there. It was an opportunity to clean myself up, and meet some good people though. I would recommend it if you re willing to work hard, can handle many hours of group therapy, and you are willing to stay clean. To date, I haven t relapsed, so it must have worked! Also, if you wish to get involved in medically assisted treatment they don t offer that there. So I would advise to start there before hand so you can have that extra tool to help while you re there. I started m.a.t after I completed the program and that s also been a help. Good luck!

In 2006 this was the 1st rehab I had ever been to. It was The Farm back then. Best experience ever. I loved how we had to study our addiction. Yes i relapsed several times after my time there, but because of what I learned there, when I was finally ready, I was able to get clean.

That being said I began my relationship with Acadia when I was 12 years old (I'm almost 40 so you do the math). Yes, I have had hiccups in my healthcare over the years but that should be expected as humans are not perfect and finding the right medications for everybodys body chemistry is hard so it may not happen all at once for you. It takes time. Have I always been treated with respect? Yes. Have I always had support? Also yes. Northern Light Acadia has a ton of resources and options available to anyone suffering, should they need them. And if you take advatage of them and put your heart into this, I think many opinions would be swayed.

There's been improvements since my last review. Though there's still needs growth on who they hire. Med management has improved. Therapy still needs to improve. Yes they are prescription happy, but I am more able to say no now. Some providers are surprised when you flex patient rights some throw tantrums. I really love how med management is going. The therapists can be really strange themselves. I haven't been inpatient since 2010 so I don't know that aspect. I give my providers the ol razzle dazzle about my complaints and they are open to fix it.

An amazing place to find the best therapists and counselors in the Bangor/Brewer area (and probably all of Northern Maine). The staff are caring and professional. They are willing to listen to each client's individual needs and form a treatment plan that puts the client (not just their symptoms) at the center of it. Unfortunately at one point I was a prisoner here, as in I made a bad decision. On that note Charleston really helped they weren't treating me like a criminal they treated me like some one who just needed guidance. They have a job to do it's our faults we are in there; weather its we actually committed the crime, or just being around the wrong people at the wrong time. Those are the decisions we made they helped me realize that. That being said some crimes committed, (having heard the stories, and deducing a percentage of them lie to you and some actually do tell the truth.) were committed for reasons justified. justified is not always law abiding. This facility has good people creating and working with inmates to have good programs in place and jobs to work and make money. Remember in a place like prison the experience is what you make it so if your negative your outcome is negative if you are positive your outcome is positive.
