My kids were having a difficult time this year for many reasons and this was a great place to re-set. Everyone was so kind and accommodating and helped us as a whole family. I really trust the care they got and while I expect we still have work to do we are a lot less lost on where to go from here. Also since ending care with Embark, we have been able to get some guidance (before we left as well but even after) on resources outside of their center. Special gratitude to Lydia, Lee and Cameron. Chris from the front desk and Diana from group were also such kind souls. I wish we didn’t have struggles but at the same time we met the kindest people to help us navigate this phase. And now have skills to cope when things come up again (which they will on some level for sure.)

I would not be where I am today without the help of Recovery Unplugged. I had two 30 day visits with them back in 2019 before moving on to a 90 program in Arizona. Everyone was friendly and you felt like you actually mattered. The musical component of it all was life changing and is still a huge support in my life today. It's outside of the box recovery and if you are looking for a place to start, this is it. I'm coming on six years of sustained recovery and now hold a masters in divinity while thriving in Tucson. AZ. None of this would have been possible without Recovery Unplugged and I could not be more grateful for all they provided in early recovery.

The program and support is great, but once you finish no resources are provided. No follow-up with patients. They are all about profit. The providers can't even provide outside resources. This should be a warning sign they are out to make money.

My journey started there. Many great counselors. A couple of them really should find another career, but nobody is perfect. I still believe they do there best.
I urge anyone who is in need of help to call. I am very grateful to them. Addiction is fatal when untreated. The good news is early recovery is temporary as well as painful.

I just wanted to share my experience I've had when i visited BHG in SE DC. I came in for intake processing. The building was very nice and clean and so inviting. I didn't have any trouble finding the place at all. Everyone greeted me when I came in with smiles and a warm welcome. Nothing but Professionalism at its FINEST. Special shoutouts goes to The Clinical Team for being so nice, friendly, professional, courteous and very caring. The answered all my questions with no problem and they explained everything to me. Also another special shoutout to the young man who is the Nurse Supervisor (Mr. Wills), he is AMAZING. He is such a blessing to that place. He helped me through the intake process and guided me around the center and made sure i was very comfortable with everything. I am truly blessed to have stepped foot in that Center, and honored to have been able to work with the staff.

I just want to shout out the BHG Staff on how excellent my visit went. The nurse Margaret was so nice and professional while assisting me. Dr B her bedside manner was phenomenal listened to all of my questions and concerns and did not make the appointment feel rushed. Dr B was soo helpful during my visit. The medical assistant nicole was so welcoming and polite to me as well overall 10/10 for my visit.

It is always hit or miss on proper medical care in the United States. Yet, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia they have a select few professionals on the third floor at the Cardiology Center. I recently had the opportunity to visit Embark Behavioral Health, and one of the first things that stood out is how convenient the Tysons location is—easy to access, yet set in a way that still feels calm and contained.
From the moment I walked in, the space felt intentional and genuinely welcoming—something that’s not always easy to achieve in behavioral health settings. There’s a thoughtful balance here: it’s structured and clearly designed to support meaningful work, while still feeling open, comfortable, and human.
What stood out most to me was how the environment supports both focus and connection. There are defined spaces to get things done, but nothing feels closed off or isolating. There’s a sense that people are visible, supported, and part of something shared—whether that’s during structured programming or more informal moments of social connection.
Meeting members of the team only reinforced that impression. Everyone I interacted with was engaged, grounded, and clearly invested in the work they’re doing. It gave me confidence not just in the program itself, but in the experience clients and families would have navigating it day to day.

Came to the site to do a tour of the facility. Met the clinical director for the tour, would have given 5 stars but the front desk area was very messy and had a strange odor. This should be addressed soon since it is the first thing you see as you enter.

This place was an overall amazing experience for me, the staff members are great especially: Matt, Fatima, Meta, Cali, Emilie, Amelia, Dani, Amanda, Tony, Bernard, Alissa and many more. they were kind and listened to me when I had concerns and taught me how to speak up for myself and how to have a healthy relationship with food and my body. I do think the Sunday outings and special walmart orders for allergen prone PT’s could be improved but since I’ve been here things have started to be improved and updated, it’s a learning process for everyone! Dr. Amin the psychiatrist through INOVA, is the best Dr. that I have seen in the last 20 years. He puts his patients interests first and doesn't force medications on his patients. He listens, is thorough and builds trust by allowing the patient to do what is best for them. A lot of doctors try to force medications on patients and before you know it, you are taking 5 and in line to be the next Michael Jackson. He doesn't do that. He always lets the patient make their own decision by giving as much information as possible. He focuses on the science behind the medications and doesn't account for things that are irrelevant.

What an amazing service this organization provides to their community. We are so grateful for our case manager, Golda, who paired our AudHd daughter with the best therapist. I have taken several program participants to various medical and mental health appointments over the years both in Virginia and in Maryland and was hands down super impressed with the staff at the CSB juvenile, adult, and emergency services. There was quite a wait for emergency services but each department communicated with each other and was so polite. Brian Stewart is one of the few names that we caught but he was phenomenal. The staff checked on us, fed us, and gave us blankets. We saw them touching base with some individuals who were clearly in crisis and they were just so patient and caring. Dr. Smith was our emergency services doc and I wish he could see people regularly because he was funny and he made my program participant feel heard. I have been with an individual to the primary care as well and enjoyed the collaboration with DO Pristell.

An excellent house to go if you're in need of mental health care. Unlike going to a hospital psyche ward, where the nurses are just waiting for their shift to end and the doctor talks to you quickly and writes some prescriptions and rushes you out to see the next patient, the entire staff focuses on you. From the doctor, to the counselors and even the cooking staff, they focus on every patient as an individual and get deeply involved in your case. A very warm, cozy, welcoming environment, nice rooms and bathrooms, and excellent food. It's like a second home you can collect yourself and gather your thoughts and prepare for the outside world again. I highly recommend.

The house that is associated with this property is a great place to go if you're in need of emergency mental health care and assistance from substance abuse. They do not offer detox specifically but if you're doing a detox, they are able to support with their varied staff of psychiatrists, PRN, nurses, and psychologists as well as peer support specialists. I wouldn't have made it to today as psychologically intact as I am without them! My issues were: they cannot always accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet & the nightly bed checks require some disturbance if you're a light sleeper. They offer ear plugs but you may want to bring a sleep mask to get your best rest. They are genuinely caring people and I highly recommend!

I got exactly the help I needed from the MedStar Urgent Care outlet nearest me in Alexandria Va. I had seriously injured my arm, and I worried that I might have fractured a bone. I showed up without an appointment and was given the help I needed that morning: X-rays, then analysis and advice from a nurse practitioner who interviewed me and examined my arm after reviewing the X-ray results. Since moving to Colorado I have received the worst healthcare in my life, the VA in Richmond, VA is also horrible, this VA did everything possible for me some appointments were a little far out but the level of care that I have received here compared to other VAs is in a class of its own. Had two knee Surgeries and Dr. Rankin is the best, the anesthesiologist I forget his name but for my first knee surgery he has been by far the best out of the four I've had.

This is a review for Kellar’s psychiatric medication management services only, as my child has not attended PHP here and is not involved in any of their other therapy programs either. I have also been told that the Kellar School is not technically connected to this location despite sharing a name and resources, so if you see any reviews here for that, just disregard them.
*And now for the actual review:*
My 13-year-old has a lot of developmental and intellectual deficits that has made finding a psychiatrist who can treat her extremely difficult, as most do not have the necessary expertise to communicate with her in a way that doesn’t send her into a behavioral crisis and unfortunately more than a few psychiatrists are unwilling break from their usual playbook when planning her care because they just don’t work with this population enough or they don’t have adequate time in their schedules to allow for a truly individualized approach for care.
Basically, working with Autistic/intellectually disabled children is an art form, and only a few providers can wield that brush effectively. Dr. Shruti Tewari is this provider. The way she is able to talk to my child at her level of understanding without coming off as condescending is incredible, and actually allows my child the dignity and ability to be an active participant in her care, which is a right but absolutely not a guarantee for the neurodivergent patient.
Just to give a little taste of what previous psychiatry practices find acceptable, up until now appointments have involved my child staring off into space while the clinicians completely ignore her the whole appointment, opting instead to just have us, the parents, answer questions about what we think her issues are, which puts me in the difficult position of having to talk about her like she isn’t even in the room when she’s actually able to understand just enough of what is going on to know we are talking about her like she is just a problem to solve, which I’m sure you can imagine is not great for a growing child’s self-esteem.
Anyway, to wrap up a review that somehow now also doubles as a rant about how absolutely dismal the current state of American mental healthcare is, Kellar’s reception staff is kind, professional, and they actually answer the phone (no dealing with call centers 5 states away or playing the endlessly frustrating game of email tag! Woo!). Yes, there can be a fairly long waitlist for this practice, but trust me, put your kid on it anyway, because by the time your child’s number comes up you’ll more than likely be joyously ready to switch from whatever psychiatrist you did end up finding for them. And If the other psychiatrists at this practice are even half as competent as Dr. Tewari, you are already in better hands than you would be with 99.9% of other providers, and I’m sure you want what’s best for your kid, otherwise you wouldn’t be here, would you?
Good luck with everything, having a child who needs psychiatric help can really drain your spirit no matter how much you want to be better than that, hopefully this review can help make your family’s journey just a little bit easier and a lot more humane. Peace & love.
