From day one I felt like I was in the right place because the staff made it a point to welcome me and made me feel comfortable. I was overwhelmed that first day right after detox with all that happened with initially getting clean, but the staff is obviously well practiced at putting their new clients at ease. Loved the groups and their curriculum, it's clear they continually evaluate what works well and they listen to feedback. The facility itself is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The staff and therapists truly care about their work and are generally very solid and helpful once you get to connect with them. However, the program isn't as intensive as some might need — I only saw my therapist twice in a two-week span, including intake. Organizationally, things can sometimes fall through the cracks (like belongings, medication, and laundry). Your experience will also heavily depend on the other residents, which can be a wild card. Despite a few operational hiccups, the caring nature of the staff and the quality of the environment make it a solid choice for treatment. My friend put me in touch with Mathe at Bedrock and it only took one short conversation before I knew I wanted my recovery to start at Bedrock in Canton MA. Bedrock was my 1st and hopefully last facility I’ll be in and I was blessed to have gone there. I would recommend this place to any and all that are battling addiction. The nurses and staff are all very understanding, patient, knowledgeable and kind. They want the best for you and that’s how they make you feel every day. Taking part in all they have to offer while there definitely makes the time cruise by and really taught me a lot about my addiction. before I knew it I did what not so long ago I thought I never could do. Steve Espanet 2 days ago I had a really positive experience at Bedrock and there were a lot of things about the program that I appreciated. Like anywhere, it isn’t perfect, and some of the groups can feel repetitive at times, but honestly I think there’s a reason for that. In early recovery, we need to hear some things more than once before they actually stick. I walked away with things I know I’ll continue to use outside of treatment. I especially want to shout out Mathematics. His groups were always entertaining and engaging, but he also wasn’t afraid to give you the tough love you needed to hear. He has a way of being direct without making you feel like he doesn’t care. You can tell he genuinely wants people to succeed. I also don’t know how he manages to stay in contact with and support so many people after they leave, but that says a lot about how seriously he takes what he does. Another thing I actually really appreciated was having a decent amount of downtime and some access to the outside world. I know that can be controversial in treatment, but for me it was beneficial. Recovery doesn’t happen in a bubble, and eventually you have to go back to real life. Being able to see what was happening outside, reflect on how it affected me, and then bring those struggles into groups or talk about them with staff gave me the opportunity to work through things while I still had support around me. I would much rather start learning how to handle those emotions in treatment than have everything hit me at once when I leave, which can be one of the most vulnerable times in recovery. Overall, I’m grateful for my experience at Bedrock. There were good staff, good groups, enough structure to keep me focused, but also enough breathing room to actually think about my life and what I needed to change. Treatment is ultimately what you make of it, but I definitely left Bedrock with more insight, tools, and support than I came in with. Spectrum staff members are caring, well-educated and passionate about helping each client on an individual basis. The level of care far exceeds that of other programs. I started my 'journey' at Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, and (apart from my clinician -- who was amazing!), it felt like conveyor-belt-style care. Now, that was a 2-hour round-trip commute every morning, but Information about Spectrum (20 minutes away) was hidden from me (despite my inquiries) for months because it was a separate organization and they likely didn't want to lose me as a paycheck -- I mean patient. Spectrum is the total opposite. It has changed my life. I wasted years fearing a program, and the stigma attached. But I realized-- since I was already dealing with the stigma of having fibromyalgia and chronic pain, it made no difference, and I needed to try -- for me. Since entering, I have met so many incredible people, shared and heard many incredible stories, and in a way, I am proud to be part of something so positive. I was told I’d be lucky to make it back to this place… meaning that I’d be dead and not be able to make it back. I was told I would be dead cause of how “horrible and defiant” I was. I did not like AA was not for me so I was going to die. Many people that worked here told me. My case worker gossiped about me to a whole group of my peers saying “one of you is going down a dark road” really? These are the people to trust? These are the people “getting me better.” Also they said the bill would not need to be paid and I kept getting harassed by AP office I believe in Florida? So I was furious. So my initial review was one star and I left out words because I wrote a nasty review and had to erase them. I wanted to come back and edit my one star review to a five star. Cause here I am, over 5 years later, still going strong as ever in my recovery, and I have a place that is mine, I have a good steady job, and I’m free of the chains of addiction. Whether I like it or not, my experience here is what lead me to where I am today. There was some amazing staff that was overworked and under paid so if by some grace of god they are still there, god bless. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say they were trying reverse psychology on me, the staff talking crap about me to other peers, the staff saying I’d be dead. But they were not that smart, they genuinely were telling me I was hopeless. I won’t name you but I know that you know who you are. Now I sit here over 5 years later thinking that maybe if you did not spend so much time talking down and being hateful and judgmental to me, maybe all my brothers in program with me that are dead now, would still be alive if you paid them that energy. But it is what it is right? I don’t equate my success to NEATC, hell no. I put my success on my shoulders. I easily could have taken yall saying I’d be dead soon and actually gone and died. But I didn’t. I spit in all your faces and I proved all of you wrong. I did it for me. I did it for my brothers who died due to the lack of care they received wether insurance was poor or you just focused more on me being defiant than their complacent obedience to your AA. What works for some does not work for all. It’s your hate that drove the fight in me to succeed. I see my brothers in the program with me that never will get to share their smiles with the world, I can share the smile they taught me. I can share their message and I will not let them down. That’s why I have 5 stars. This place did exactly what it needed to. Just like life, drove me insane, judged me, hate on me, gave me a place to live full of rats and mice, financial issues to battle, had to face death, had to hear pain like no other, and was not the smoothest ride. But through the pain and darkness of life there is always light, you can be that light. You can change. Amidst all the bad, there was a handful of AMAZING staff and people that gave me a real life experience I will never ever ever forget. Just like life this place is not perfect, we need to take the challenges and push on. I loved this place. And always will. This place did heal me. Not how I wanted but how I needed. Just like real life. I noticed my growth as I wanted to change my one star review. Even after all the trouble, I pushed through and fought and still see the light. I am still a light that will not be dimmed. And this place is a HUGE part of the reason I am who I am today. An amazing light in a dark dark world. This place put a challenge in front of me, life is not easy, you need to put in the work, and when life punches, you need to punch back harder.
