A family member was treated here. I went and visited during visitation hours. The staff I met were very kind. He had said the same. He got help not only with present recovery but tools to help him stay sober. They also helped him with his next steps like getting into a sober living. They inspired him to one day become a sponsor himself. He enjoys most of the company he had there. I enjoyed that Monday through Friday he would get his own personal phone for twenty minutes to make calls and texts from. It allowed me to send him photos to keep him involved. When I couldn't make a visitation they tried their best to accommodate and do a brief video visit instead. All around they greatly cared for him presently and his future. They even helped with transportation to the sober living. The only negatives were that sometimes you don't always get a very good roommate and theft happens. Plus the food wasn't always great he said, but you can't please everyone all the time with every meal when you get that many people together. I would suggest having more options during meal times though, possibly a microwave and some ramen or something for those who don't like whatever is served. Overall this place really helped him grow. I can't wait to see what the rest of his future brings for him and our family.

It depends on what you are there for and what shift and staff. It is like day and night. I have been in there and had the most compassionate doctors with a very accommodating staff. That did everything they could to help when I went in there with an abscess in my tooth.
But if you get the wrong staff, sometimes they are very short, and if there is something really serious, I would not put my life in their hands. My friend went in there bleeding out of his mouth, his ears and nose. He had a perforated ulcer, and they cauterized it, but did not know he had two other ulcers after doing a scope on him. They sent him home after six hours and he was right back and had to go to Midland. So I guess I would give them a 3.5 and this is a combination of all the interactions I’ve ever had with them. There are some doctors and staff that I can’t say too much about but then there are doctors and staff that are outstanding. It really is late night and day.

Don’t even want to give them 1 star. This is by far the WORST hospital I have ever been to. My sister in law came because both her eyes are swollen and she can barely see out of them and the doctor comes in for maybe a few minutes and just says she has allergies and to take Benadryl and said he was going to give her discharge papers, she told them multiple times that it is not an allergic reaction she hasn’t done anything different or even put anything on her face. Everyone there just seemed to want to be rushing us out and the nurse was extremely rude. These people need to learn sympathy. We asked for a different doctor (we had doctor chad) they said that there was no other doctors in the hospital. How do you only have one doctor in the whole hospital. Then we asked if we could speak to someone higher up about this issue and they said that someone would be with us in a few minutes we waited over an hour and we just decided to go home.

My review pertains only to my interactions with the business of United Psychological Services, not my work with any staff for treatment. The only reason this review isn’t one star is because the billing team was very patient and willing to work with me when I chose to not bill through insurance, and gave grace when I occasionally messed up payments.
As for Dr. Fischer, the clinical head of this business, I have had exclusively less than ideal interactions. When I did my patient intake, I specifically requested someone who had experience in talk therapy/strategies for ADHD. Dr. Fischer immediately stopped me and told me I would need to get tested before we could even discuss that. I informed her that I didn’t need testing, to which she said she would not under any circumstance provide a diagnosis without testing. I then informed her I’ve already been diagnosed by three different providers, so I don’t need them to diagnose me with something my primary care team is already aware of.
When the time came to separate from United Psychological Services, as I have achieved my treatment goals, I was called and made to make an appointment for Dr. Fischer to call me to discuss. This is after I was called randomly at 8PM the night before. I made the appointment and at the appointed time, I was not contacted. I eventually called the number that had originally called me after about an hour, and then Dr. Fischer responded. At this point it was 9PM on a week night, and she still expected to conduct the appointment regardless of the time.
Overall, I did not enjoy my interactions with Dr. Fischer. Most talk therapy patients will likely not have to deal with her much.

But I'll tell you what the incompetence that they can't take 3 minutes out of their whole day and 14 business days to get back to you is unacceptable and ignorant and just plain lazy. Now when I say staff I'm talking about the ones that should be calling patients back after they've leave numerous messages and have called numerous times. Horrible place. Failure of care for patients and staff and even family members who are there to visit. They do not care about your well being all they care about is filling beds , no matter if it dangerous for clients and staff alike. The staff is not taking care of. Most patients are trading one addiction for another with the medication they give you and end up relapsing or dying because of it. The turn around rate for the place is awfully low. The building is in shambles. They have multiple threats to building, staff and clients but nothing is done to improve the safety of everyone in the building. Staff even complain about pay not being received. And even injuries from Improper care is not handled.

I would say a good 80% of the staff at this place over the years have been absolutely terrible in my opinion. I went there all of my early teens until late teens and, even some after that due to no other options. I had multiple doctors overmedicate me which led to later physical health issues I will forever have. They do nothing but set you up with a therapist that you will not see more than once a month...Give you 2 mediocre sessions with them and then you are told that your therapist is either leaving the agency or there's some other issue for why you are now being see up with a new therapist. Again and again this happened. I have known few wonderful therapists that have worked here and all that have.. leave to work somewhere better. Most of these people are undertrained and underqualified. So many people in our community have been hurt, traumatized and neglected by this mental health office. Why is NO ONE doing anything?

An excellent place to go if you have an out of control addiction and need help. Or if you just fell off and need a hand getting back up.
Friendly staff, smoke breaks, ample time to socialize and work out our problems amongst ourselves... the place is amazing. And welcoming to people that return.
We can't all always get it right on the first go around. Sometimes it takes two, three, four... hell, even thirty tries. But admitting that there's a problem and working to fix it is the first step. And this place is an excellent resource if you need that kind of help.
I'm also an atheist. If you're worried about going to a church-affiliated group, don't be. They take a light touch with religion (mostly stuff in the daily readings), and try to be open to everyone. Same goes for LGBTQ+ folk: this is a safe place.

Michigan is ranked 13th nationwide in terms of addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $56,508.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Michigan vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of the treatment types listed above. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below.
There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Michigan. Most treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. However, there are many treatment centers in Michigan that accept Medicaid and Medicare, or offer sliding scale payments or other low-cost payment options.
