The mother baby program was a lifesaver for me twice. It helped me get my life back and bond with my children again. It gave me hope on my darkest days and to know that I was not alone. I just got discharged from Pine Rest Partial Hospitalization Program. Much better than Bronson or Borgess psych ward. They actually spend a whole day getting to know you in depth before you go to groups and classes. They don’t talk to you for five minutes, slap a diagnoses on, and give you drugs. They focus on changing your thought processes with relationships and mindset rather than just drugs. They actually look to make sure your meds are safe for you to take with your physical health. They don’t immediately slap a medication compliance court order on anyone seeking treatment. And I did so well I was discharged after 4 days. They first try classes to learn and adapt and only change meds when necessary. And the classes are helpful. They give you a binder to read from, and it is a positive, healing, and scenic environment. They ask at the beginning of group what pronouns everyone uses so although it says Christian they are accepting of everyone. But you do have the option of having a chaplain in your treatment plan if you want it. And he is the sweetest guy who can really bridge the gap between doctor and patient. There’s no forcing of religion. First psych ward I didn’t come out of pacing all day and i wasn’t so out of it I couldn’t learn. Medications were appropriate for attention span. Learned and improved more in 4 days than with 3 weeks in prior psych wards. They are really great for those with Borderline Personality Disorder. I went in there and told them “I’m on vacation” dealing with the death of my dad. Just needed the extra talk therapy to get through a death in the family before I did funeral arrangements. Truly a good vacation. Had fun coloring on my down time. Definitely would return.

This review is for anyone scared and struggling but also scared about getting help at a place like Pine Rest. My greatest fear was having to get help at a mental health facility. Pine Rest completely eased that fear. The intake process was really easy, I ended up going on a Sunday and getting help not from the urgent Care that was closed but they were able to schedule me for evaluation the next day. I decided to do partial inpatient hospitalization. The program was extremely helpful for my generalized anxiety disorder. They got my meds switched in a timely way. But the classes and the social workers were incredible. I had not learned a good chunk of what I had heard up there before. I worked with Maria and Allison in group and they were so kind and knowledgeable. The psychiatrist and the PA were so gentle, validating and hopeful. My fear about having to enter some kind of hospitalization was eradicated. Some of us just need some help and some of us need extra and that is okay! So if you're scared about needing to reach out please please do not hesitate. I was there and if I have to go again for extra help I don't have hesitation anymore. Thank you Pine rest you guys rock!

I’ve noticed that Forest View has quite a few one-star reviews, but my personal experience was very different. I believe mental health treatment starts with the individual. This is a program designed to help you, but you also have to be willing to participate, work on yourself, and genuinely want to get better and go home in a healthier place. I’m not saying that everyone who left a negative review had the same experience as me, because everyone’s situation is different. However, I think people should consider more than just the star rating when deciding what to expect. Personally, I thought the staff was excellent. They were helpful and professional, and the food was excellent as well. I can honestly say that I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the treatment, support, and care I received while I was there. A facility can provide the staff, structure, treatment, resources, and support, but recovery also requires something from the individual. If you go into Forest View willing to participate, communicate honestly, listen, and work toward getting better, I believe you can get a lot more out of the program. Based on my own experience, I would definitely give Forest View a positive review. I’m hoping to return soon and continue benefiting from the program and the support they provide.

My experience met my expectations and being 5. I've been using the partial antagonist medicine for a few years and had great success until my doctors started making it difficult for ne to constantly stay in them and stabilize. That and when you administer the pairtial antagonist you have yo go into the office to see them. This is always a smaller satellite location that you visit with people everywhere and most of them if not all of them aren't anywhere near as sick or hurting like an addict in withdraw. The point to that was you have to see your doctor in person and in full blown withdrawals state when you see the docs. Then they have to determine if your ready for that medicine and make sure that you're such enough to start the meds because of you administer it too soon ot will make the person even more sick!! It's very very difficult to start that med and can be dangerous and discouraging to many people. I was one of them for a while. The staff was amazing and made everything feel very clean, calm, and controlled environment. The structure and attention they give every person makes it a place that not only feels safe but, it's safe. The ladies at the desk are amazing and can confidently say the same for all the staff! I've never been in a place of recovery like this before. You can feel the tenderness and compassion in the atmosphere that naturally provides judgement free area you can feel

The Salvation Army’s Turning Point center is a nonprofit substance abuse treatment program. They provide adults with a continuum of services including detox, inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) treatment, and dual diagnosis care. The Turning Point program guides clients through the process of changing addictive behaviors through holistic methods.
It is a massive realization to reach a point where you’re ready to trade "the way things have been" for a version of yourself you actually respect. Sixteen years is a long time, but that foundation of a positive past experience—knowing that help can be good—is a great anchor to have as you head back. Going in with the intention of taking the programs seriously is the "secret sauce" that makes treatment work. It’s less about the facility and more about your willingness to do the heavy lifting.

I’ve been through 3 therapists at this clinic, they were very nice people. The service is great, the ladies at the desks are always kind and helpful. Only things I would say is that sometimes the therapists go against your opinions and judgement and make you feel out of place or out of control. BUT all of my experiences here have been pleasant. Loved my past two therapists, Mattie DeBoe (no longer a therapist, moved to higher position) and Kelly anthi. Compared to pine rests outpatient/inpatient care facility, this place is paradise. Their inpatient and outpatient facility has many many issues with the inpatient and resident facilities, the outpatient facilities are very helpful and welcoming, quite opposite of the inpatient.

Skywood Recovery truly saved my life. From detox all the way through PHP, every staff member made me feel supported, safe, and cared for. Carol was amazing during intake and immediately made us feel like we were in a safe place. Anthony, one of the RAs, was there for me throughout detox and always took the time to answer my questions. Sharon kept me on my toes 👌 (8–5, she knows! 😂) and always made sure we stayed accountable. Kelsey made the evenings fun by hosting karaoke, giving us a chance to unwind and learn that sobriety can still be enjoyable. My therapist, Mark, was outstanding at helping me identify and work through the issues I was facing. Aimee, Hillary, and Ken from PCC went above and beyond to help me find aftercare and put in tremendous effort to make sure I had a solid plan for continued recovery. Matt, the peer mentor, was awesome to be around whenever you could catch him. He often took us to outside meetings, which made the transition much less intimidating and helped build confidence in continuing recovery after treatment. I could go on and on because everyone at Skywood played a part in changing my life. If you're struggling with addiction and are looking for a place that genuinely cares, I can't recommend Skywood Recovery enough. Thank you all for helping me find a new way to live. I'll be forever grateful

Provided this post on LinkedIn but wanted to also provide it here to those who don’t have social media …. I want to take a moment to recognize the team at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. Over the past year I decided to start using the VA for my healthcare. Like many veterans, I had heard different stories over the years, but my personal experience has been outstanding. From the very first appointment the process was smooth and professional. I was called in at the exact time my appointment was scheduled. A nurse came in within a couple minutes and walked me through how the VA system works and the services available. Shortly after that my doctor came in, reviewed my medical history, and immediately started coordinating follow up care. I have had several knee surgeries over the years, so we scheduled MRIs to take a closer look. What really stood out was how efficient everything was even before the appointment. The VA had already scheduled my blood work and knee X rays. I walked into the Battle Creek facility, signed in for blood work, waited about three minutes, and the nurse took care of everything in less than ten minutes. Then I walked down the hall for my X rays. Again, the entire process took less than ten minutes. Professional, friendly, and very efficient. After my appointment they also scheduled a vision exam. That experience was just as smooth. Any medications I needed were mailed to my house within days, and my glasses arrived within a couple weeks. The entire experience has been excellent, and I truly appreciate the people who make it happen every day. The team at the Battle Creek VA has been fantastic. Veterans deserve great care, and my experience here has shown me that there are people working hard every day to deliver it. Thank you to the Battle Creek VA team. #Veterans #BattleCreekVA #DisabledVeterans #SDVOSB

The Cardiac Rehab team at West Michigan Cardiology is amazing! After any type of heart related event it's important to make lifestyle changes and they do an incredible job of helping people learn to live a healthier lifestyle. The class room portion focuses on improved/healthy eating habits and mental/physical well being. The physical/workout portion was great for me personally. Having the peace of mind knowing my heart was being monitored while I worked out went a long way in rebuilding my confidence. They took the time to set up work out circuits specific to my needs which was greatly appreciated (except the leg workouts lol). They do a great job of encouraging people while they workout and make it fun by doing themed circuit workouts once a week. I highly recommend Cardiac Rehab for anyone post heart related health issues.

This program has changed my life for the better! I finally have my life back.I can think clearly,I make good choices,I have continued working towards my goals,I have my self esteem back.when I started I was a hot mess and I told myself I was going to follow the rules and do whatever I needed to do. It has not been easy but with the help of my therapist dr, classes held in the past, dosing nurses, medical nurses, checkin staff and others I give all five stars! They have helped in more ways then I can describe! With passion, kindness, not judging, really caring for us ,while also holding us accountable if we slip up.so Thank you from the bottom of my heart!(Missy) 2015... South side health 💜💜💜

Seriously, this really is a great place. And the people are some of the best people you'll ever meet in the whole wide world. I wish I could reply to these negative reviews lol.. if you don't love this place, it's a you problem :) They work so hard for their patients. Like others said, if you want this program to work for you, you have to work hard for IT. Methadone is NOT harder to get off than heroin when you do the taper. You have a doctor and therapist by your side at all times if you need any help. If you start experiencing bad withdrawal symptoms, they adjust things. All you need to do is show up every day like you're supposed to, and follow the rules. Which really isn't that hard. It's not like they have a whole bunch of rules. All they ask is just common decency and showing up every day taking your dose and being respectful. They put up with so much crap you have no idea. So many people are so unappreciative and blame their use on the clinic every single time they do something wrong. If somebody shows up after the dose time they will sit there and throw a huge fit saying you're making me do heroin. This is not true you don't even start to withdraw off methadone until like 3-4 days after stopping dosing. People here are really respectful to all of us patients. Even when we aren't respectful to them. they are so patient and so kind I don't know how at the end of their day they're still nice. They keep this place running smooth and really do care about their patients. Like they care a lot. Like they are there for you through everything. Whatever you go through you can contact this clinic and they will at least be there for you if not help you with services and finding resources. They are very helpful and very resourceful. They really help get a lot of people out of streets and off drugs. Methadone treatment has has over an 80% success rate across this country. So if you stick with it you'll succeed. But you really need to want it. It's got to be to the point where getting high is harder than showing up at the clinic every day and dosing. Dosing has to be easier. Once you get to the point where it's so damn hard you just can't do it anymore, these people will be here for you.

This place has help me get my life back. I was totally at my bottom when I came here. I was addicted to heroin, crack, Alcohol and every and any drug I could get my hands on. I had to sign custody of my 3 children to my cousin because CPS was going to take my rights to them away from me. I was living in a horrible motel out in Grandville because I was kicked out of every other motel around. I was doing some retched things to support both mine and my abusive no good boyfriend. Finally after being so tired and wanting a way out but not knowing how I prayed to God for help. Not long after that prayer I was paralyzed from Guillian Barre Syndrome and was put in the hospital for a week. After I was moved into Mary Free Bed for 2 months to learn to walk, use my arms, and work on speech and get movement into my face again. I was put on methadone during this time because I could not fathom trying to lay in a bed and be able to move anything while going through withdraws. If you ever went through heroin withdraw. you know you have to be able to get to a bathroom for multiple purposes. So I got accepted in Cherry Street upon Release from Mary Free Bed. This was not my first time going in to this program. I had went through it before but I was still using. I kept making excuses to use like I had to wait until I got my dose high enough or the methadone did not last through the night. But I was not ready at this time and was only trying to quit to make others happy and not for myself. This time I was doing it for me and it worked. The point of the clinic for my recovery was I was able to change things. I was able to dig myself out of the hole I created and give myself a life full of reasons to stay on track with my sobriety. I went to college to get a degree in addictions so when I am tapered out of the clinic (which I am working on currently) I can find employment to help people like me. I was able to start a new relationship with my children and be in their lives. I meant a man who loves and excepts me for my past. He has a daughter that lives with us both and I love her as my own. I believed I could not have anymore children due to complications and a pregnancy loss but I have two beautiful little boys now. I did all of this while I was in the clinic. I needed this to get the drug dealers and the drug users out of my life and get thing I value in my life that I refuse to lose to addiction. I have been in the clinic for about 6 years now and I am happy to say I am tapering off. I am going very slow. I was at 107mg and now I am down to 76mg. I been only going down 1 or 2mg a week. But I am getting there. So I know a lot of people are wondering why I shared my whole story for a review. I have just read a lot of post of saying how this program is horrible and it doesn't work. I wanted to show it does work if you really want it. The program does have some flaws like they can be more open to different work schedules. Also be more concerned about peoples employment because its their lively hood. But if you follow the rules you can get to the point where you only have to come once a month. Which shouldn't be that hard on your schedule. I stay at twice a month because with tapering I want to be able to adjust my dose as needed. Also I go for counseling once a month and I have always loved my counselors. I miss my old Counselor Melissa Barns she was an amazing person and made me feel like I had someone in my corner. But my new counselor is pretty awesome too. In the end this program is something you have to make work for you. But if you come in follow the program and stay away from the few bad apples that are in the program you CAN get your life back. Update 01/2026 You guys really need to pay your counselors more or something. I always get amazing counselors and then they find better jobs and leave😭😭😭😭😭 Elaina Kimbrell THANK YOU for the support you have given me. You will be missed. I am devastated for me but happy for you. I hope you are very successful and live a happy and fulfilled life!

Don't believe for a second most of the 1-star reviews you see here! Each staff member I have met with has been incredibly gentle, helpful, nonjudgemental and compassionate. Literally everyone from reception onward. I look forward to my appointments and I feel very supported by my care team. I was pretty skeptical of this clinic at first since I am not religious. I had reservations since this is a Christian-based organization. Thankfully, I have found them to be genuinely mission-driven and not evangelical. I have a lot of respect for that. They also have financial assistance programs which were a *huge* stress reliever for me when I temporarily was without health insurance. Checking in is smooth and pleasant, they do their best not to waste time but they also make plenty of time for me when I need it. I can also tell that the staff is a real team with solid systems in place: they don't miss a beat, even when I definitely do. Thanks Pine Rest!

This ship is well maintained. From housekeeping because without them this ship would be dry docked. To the director because without navigational skills the crew members would have no direction. I am grateful for the kindness by all I come in contact with. Very convenient for most veterans needing specialist care as well.

I have never met more kind, amazing, warm-hearted welcoming staff and peers in my entire life. IT works if YOU make it work. 90% of the staff is nothing short of incredibly amazing. There’s a couple that could work on their “bedside manner” and empathy; but when it was brought to someone’s attention they had issues with that because they just learned self-advocacy, an open “adult-dialogue” was welcomed and encouraged. Jim Gilmore Rexovery Center has changed my life for good. “JUST FOR TODAY”
