I'm a chronic relapser and have been to Valley Hope several times. My relapses had nothing to do with Valley Hope and the care they provided. It just wasn't my time yet. I love Atchison Valley Hope. The staff are A+. They genuinely care about the patients while there and after their discharge. I get calls from my counselors and case workers periodically just to see how I'm doing. It's more than collecting an insurance check with them. I finally took their advice and went to php and iop, in addition to an addiction counselor. I'm 65 years old and sober for the first time in a very long time. There's no treatment center that's going to keep you sober or drug free. It takes work, but at AVH they will provide a serious reboot for your future.

This place has truly changed my life, and it just dawned on me 5 months after completing the program.
Sorry in advance for the long post.
I started the MRC program around February 2026 for severe anxiety and depression. I was in a dark place, with no support from family or friends, and honestly I didn't think anything was going to help me at that point. The first day I arrived the staff were very welcoming but my anxiety was through the roof. I pretty much stayed in my room and only came out for meds and food too scared to really talk to anyone.
As the weeks went by, I started getting comfortable then realized my peers were literally going through the same thing I was same with the staff, some of whom had gone through the same program themselves It gave me motivation if they could do it I could do it too. One of the things I struggled with was my schedule. It got so bad it started bleeding into everything like one day I'd sleep at 9pm, the next at 1pm, then I wouldn't sleep at all for three days straight. When I got there I kept missing classes because I was oversleeping or straight up refusing to wake up, so I got a warning that my phone would be taken away. That scared me straight that's when I finally got my shit together lol.
Now 5 months later I had lost my job, totaled my car and pretty much everything I owned. A year ago that would've completely broken me. But I was okay. And that was the part that surprised me the most all this time I'd been chasing something that never had any real value to me in the first place. The job was good money sure but it brought me zero happiness. Working 90 hours a week was actively making my depression worse and I didn't even see it happening until I was already in here fighting to get my mind back. So when the termination letter came yesterday there was sadness but there was relief too. That job had become my whole identity a false one built on something that was quietly destroying me.
Now today at 8am instead of frantically getting ready for a job that only made me miserable I'm sitting outside bird watching and reading a magazine like I'm 70 years old lol. And that's the lesson that took me almost losing everything to learn chasing something that has no real value to you personally will wear you down piece by piece until there's nothing left. I'm just grateful I got to learn that here instead of losing myself completely over it.
Thank you MRC ❤️

Kansas City, KS | The Recovery Village Kansas City Drug and Alcohol Rehab is a physician-led mental health, drug & alcohol treatment center providing evidence-based care for alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and mental health conditions near Kansas City, Missouri. Our facility offers a full continuum of care, including medical detox, residential rehab, partial | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I checked myself into The Recovery Village - Kansas City in summer 2024 during the darkest, most difficult time of my life. I had been in survival mode for a long time and reached a point where I could no longer cope, function, or get through my days in a healthy way. I had loving family, friends, and a therapist around me, but I needed more support than I could get in my normal day to day life. Even though I had been in residential treatment before, I was still very nervous. Whether it is your first time in treatment or you have been before, it is natural to feel nervous, unsure of what to expect, and uncertain about what to ask.
When I arrived, I gave my name at the front desk and was checked in. After registration, a staff member gave me a quick tour and explained what my days there would look like. My room was simple, comfortable, and had everything I needed. I encourage anyone considering treatment to call ahead, ask what to bring, and let the staff know when you are on your way.
Recovery Village provided high-quality care in a safe, supportive environment. Through individual and group therapy, a structured daily routine (including very good food), creative activities, and learning alongside others, they helped me learn how to handle life more effectively when I went home. I learned to communicate my needs, establish healthy boundaries, advocate for myself, develop healthier coping skills, and recognize that self-care is not selfish. It was about caring for the whole person and preparing me for life after residential treatment.
What truly made Recovery Village special was its clinical care team. Every member was knowledgeable, approachable, compassionate, and genuinely cared about helping people get better. I felt very safe there, both physically and emotionally. I could be honest about how I was feeling, what I was struggling with, and what I needed without judgment. That safety let me focus fully on getting well.
I appreciated how intentional Recovery Village was about preparing me for the transition home. Discharge was not treated as the finish line. We talked about what recovery would look like in everyday life and how I could continue using what I had learned after I left. I continue that work through therapy, paying closer attention to what I need, setting healthier boundaries, and making choices that are better for my mental health. Caring for my mental health is something I now know I will always invest in.
Recovery Village gave me the skills, confidence, and perspective I needed to build a life that once felt impossible. At my lowest, I could not imagine a future beyond depression. I had forgotten what happy felt like. They helped me believe that life could be different and that I did not have to stay stuck. Nearly two years later, I have more mental clarity and stability than I have had in over a decade, and I attribute much of that progress to what I learned there.
Recovery Village stays in contact with former patients through brief, meaningful text messages. They remind me that recovery takes time, to be patient and compassionate with myself, and that asking for help again does not mean I have failed. They remind me that Recovery Village is still there if I need them. After two years, those short text messages still mean a lot. I now recognize that recovery is a process. It looks different for everyone and may involve therapy, medication, support, self-awareness, boundaries, and daily choices. There is no single formula. What matters is consistency - continuing to care for your mental health in the ways that work for you.
I want anyone reading this who is struggling to know that they are seen, heard, and loved.
I would highly recommend Recovery Village Kansas City to someone who needs more support than they can get at home or through regular outpatient care. Choosing residential treatment was a major decision, and for me, it marked the beginning of a very different chapter in my life. I will always be grateful for the role Recovery Village played in helping me get there.

My time at Recovery Village was life changing. The bond and professional help from my therapist, case managers, all the techs, nurses, providers, peer supporters, reception at the entrance and bible studies, to even the cleaning crew, and kitchen crew was very supportive of my treatment in recovery. I appreciate every single person there. I felt welcomed. I learned new tools to help me cope in my recovery and sobriety. Everyone was very knowledgeable and explained everything in a very understandable way. May God bless you all. And thank you all and God bless.

Mrs and Mrs D were the highlights of my days always so funny to hear about their childs latest shanangin! And their is another staff member, she is very confidential so no names but when we where down she got us started paper, it was that little kind gesture that made us all so happy, and then there is Mrs H she is so sweet and gentle always there if you needed to talk. And then there was Mrs G she got along with us all so fast! What made us so comfortable around her was because when she first came on the unit, she wasn't a stranger at all so warm to all of us and treated us all in the moment and not the past
And then there was Mrs L and Mrs C they were hard to warm up to at first but they were my favorite night staff the were so hummurous and there for all of us whether good or bad! And Mrs J she was a gentle lady, loved us all. And Mrs T and Mrs S they were also night staff, a little clumsy with their jobs and how to do things but overall such great care! And there was another staff member she was a nurse Mrs H and she loved me a lot, and always made me smile! and Mr H he always gave great life lessons! and Mr C he does well at his job, but hated a lot BECAUSE he does his job. He get a lot of criticism and that's hard to handle 247! And don't forget MRS R my therapist, she did an amazing job she needs a raise, hahaha! And they had an amazing horse program, I won't say anything anout the therapists though, I didn't have an exact connection with those lovely ladies. Anywho, this Ellie, I discharged 4-26-26 it's almost been two months! And I've been doing amazing with all the hard work you put in to me!

Kansas City, MO | If you need alcohol and drug rehab services then you can visit The Crossroads Program in Kansas City, Missouri. The facility specializes in helping teens and young adults recover from addiction problems. The treatment services available include an intensive outpatient program, support groups, individual counseling and speaking engagements. Treatme | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Our family will forever be grateful to The Crossroads Recovery Program for the impact it has had on our daughter and our entire family. As parents, my husband and I were extremely involved throughout our daughter's time at Crossroads and were deeply changed by the expeience.
As a Clinical Psychologist myself, I came into the experience with a high level of professional knowledge and, admittedly, very high expectations for the quality of treatment. The Crossroads care team demonstrated an exceptional understanding of the complex needs of teenagers and young adults in recovery. Crossroads helped our daughter not only stop using substances - they helped her develop the emotional maturity, coping skills, self-awareness, accountability, and skills necessary to build a meaningful life in recovery. The program challenged her when she needed to be challenged, supported her when she needed support, and consistently treated her with dignity and respect.
As parents, we were educated, supported, challenged, and given the tools to understand how we culd best support our daughter while also establishing healthy boundaries. I thought navigating addicition would tear our family and marriage apart (and it almost did before Crossroads). Today our family speaks openly about our recovery journey and the many ways we have all grown as a result.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Crossroads Program - I truly believe they were instrumental in saving our daughter's life.
