I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Michael Atkin, Nurse Naira, RN, and the entire Emergency Department team at Raritan Bay Medical Center for the truly outstanding care I received. On October 6, 2026, from the moment I walked into the ER at approximately 9:30 PM until the moment I left around midnight, my experience was nothing short of exceptional! What impressed me immediately was the kindness and professionalism of the staff, beginning with the triage team. Everyone was welcoming, pleasant, respectful, and genuinely helpful. There were no negative attitudes, no dismissive behavior, and no feeling that I was inconveniencing anyone by being there. Every interaction made me feel comfortable, respected, and cared for. Within approximately two and a half hours, the team completed my triage, blood work, CT scan, and necessary treatment. Everything was handled efficiently, professionally, and with genuine compassion. I never felt forgotten or ignored. Dr. Michael Atkin was absolutely outstanding! He was attentive, compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely concerned about my well-being. He took the time to explain every step of my treatment plan, kept me informed throughout my visit, and made sure I understood what was happening. His exceptional bedside manner made an enormous difference. He treated me like a person, not just another patient. Nurse Naira, RN, was equally extraordinary! She approached me with a warm smile, kindness, and genuine compassion. She regularly checked on me, asked if I needed anything, and made sure I was comfortable. Before starting my IV or administering medications, she carefully explained each procedure and what medications I would be receiving. She consistently asked about my pain level and whether I needed additional pain relief. Her attentiveness, patience, professionalism, and beautiful attitude made me feel safe, reassured, and genuinely cared for. What makes this experience even more remarkable is that the previous day, I had an extremely disappointing experience at JFK Medical Center’s Emergency Department, which belongs to the same healthcare organization. The difference between these two experiences was truly night and day. At Raritan Bay Medical Center, I experienced everything that had been missing the day before: communication, compassion, efficiency, respect, professionalism, and genuine concern for the patient. This experience reminded me that excellent healthcare is not just about medical tests, procedures, or medications. It is also about how patients are treated during some of their most vulnerable moments. A smile, a kind word, a clear explanation, and a caring attitude can make all the difference. Dr. Michael Atkin and Nurse Naira are exceptional healthcare professionals who deserve special recognition from hospital leadership. I would also like to acknowledge the entire ER team, especially the triage staff, for making my experience so positive from beginning to end. During one of the most painful and difficult moments our family has ever experienced, the ICU and Special Care Unit at Hackensack Meridian Hospital showed us an extraordinary level of compassion, empathy, patience, and love. Our beloved father, Jose Fabio Villa, spent his final days in their care. As our entire family gathered around him and faced the heartbreaking reality of losing our father, the ICU team treated him with dignity and treated our family with genuine kindness and understanding. There are simply not enough words to express how grateful we are. The nurses, doctors, and staff did more than provide medical care—they showed humanity. They understood that they were not only caring for a patient, but for a father deeply loved by his children and family. They allowed us to be present, answered our questions, comforted us, and showed tremendous patience during an incredibly emotional time. The Special Care Unit was equally wonderful. The care, respect, and compassion shown to our father and our entire family will remain in our hearts forever. When a family is going through the loss of someone they love, the way they are treated during those final days becomes a memory they carry for the rest of their lives. Because of this incredible team, alongside our heartbreak, we will also remember the kindness and love that surrounded our father.
