DR. Burney has been my primary Doctor for years. She and her staff are outstanding. If she were to leave the VA I would follow her to her private practice. I have been coming here since they opened. It's a very clean, new office. They have a lab on site and if you go in the A M they send your blood draw up to VA North Port and the lab work is ready the next day for your appointment at North Port VA.

I've been getting services from this place since I was 12 years old, case management, psychiatry, therapy, and worked with my mom until I became 18 before it became individual. My overall experience was a lot.
Positives: I really loved my meetings with the therapist, then-case manager, and psychiatrist. I feel like I've made improvements when it comes to having healthier coping mechanisms, challenging my irrational thinking, attending fun events, giving me short-term relief through events and exploring local areas, recognizing my own needs, and allowing me to function better in social situations and communicate more effectively. The case manager was also very understanding when I made the decision to change from family to be individualized when I became 18 due to my mom's negative reaction and how, despite what she says to them, she has shown no interest or drive in applying her advice.
I also appreciate the psychiatrist being able to contact my insurance company when they initially denied my prescription despite providing me with psychiatry in the past. She was very attentive, aware of my background, and a pleasure to speak with. She and the first case manager were the most understanding of my side, feelings, and culture.
They were very understanding when I communicated concerns that will be mentioned in the negatives section and are currently helping me find services to transfer to.
Negatives: A few months ago, I was unexpectedly switched from my then-case manager to someone completely different. Personally, I have not been able to feel any sort of connection with her. The sessions are substantially shorter than with the first (10–15 minutes VS an hour), and when I try to tell her something, she asks me if I told someone else, what they said, and whether she agrees with them or not. I feel like I can't tell her much, and that the few times we have, nothing gets done. She was also the biggest offender of the main reason I decided to make the decision to discontinue all services:
I'm now 20 going on 21, and I felt like, while I made improvements on other aspects of my life, I've never been able to fully process my deep-rooted trauma and my strained relationship with my mom. When my services revolved around both myself and my mom, my mom was highly unresponsive to the feedback given by the case manager and multiple arguments were sprouted as a result. There were several times when I felt my mom wasn't being fully honest to these people, yet I'd constantly feel like I was at fault. Even when it has been shifted to individual treatment, I felt extremely uncomfortable sharing it, as there were a few sessions when I felt that my feelings weren't fully listened to and that my mom's input and influence likely made them biased. Even after they all reassured me, they've kept asking me if they could get my mom's side, which I would refuse each time, and many of these discussions. I do recognize this is a circumstance outside the workers' control, and I'm deeply saddened about how much of an effect it had on my experience.
FSL, thank you for all the positive change you managed to give me for so many years. I'm just really sad to know that I now have to look elsewhere for my own well-being, but I hope you all do well!

Jennifer Fridenberger is definitely someone anyone is lucky to have in their corner. Over the last year having her as my case worker I’ve had more support and gotten through some of the hardest times. She’s always looking for ways to go above and beyond, you can tell she belongs in a job helping people, her passion for it is clearly visible.

Shout out to Vikki Valente for ACM program too, because when I had an issue with my previous caseworker when Jennifer was re assigned temporarily she reassured me I would be taken care of and she was right.

They treated me with respect. I was there 2x in there rehab, 1x in detox an once in there adult psych unit. The food was ok. The doctors were good, nurses and techs were friendly and great counselors and productive groups. No smoking or caffeine but it’s like that everywhere in NY because of state rules. Otherwise states are different. Most of the rehabs are based out of psych or medical hospitals. There rehab unit even got me into a long term facility.
All I can say to the kids unit is, your young and like your freedom. You’re not going on a vacation, it’s not summer camp and you can’t have your phone or iPad. You’ll be locked in for a reason. Your safety. It’s designed for people in crisis. I know you can’t see the mental health aspect and I couldn’t at that age either. You probably won’t think there is anything wrong with you. You’ll probably going to be bored. Don’t get involved with other patients to much. You may see things you don’t like or shouldn’t. Remember everyone’s mental health journey and level of stability are different and some kids may have more issues then yours. I would highly recommend not making long term friends in there. This isn’t summer camp or school. You’ve all got a lot of things going on in your life. Being a kid ain’t easy and very stressful. You’re here to keep you safe from harming yourself and/or anyone else. Just ride it out. Make it a goal to take care of yourself so you don’t end up back and for the parents, please take charge of yourself child’s mental health. Psychiatrist and psychologist visits and take whatever medication is prescribed and monitor your child. If they are having side effects, talk to the doctor. My parents took me to doctors but didn’t understand my mental health issues and were not what I needed as parents by badgering me. Listen to your kids and be open and most important listen so they can be open with you. Empathy and understand is important to kids or they won’t tell you what’s going on and it will make matters worse. Mental illness tends to run in families sometimes and when the parent doesn’t address their own, that effects a child’s. Your child will not be cured when they come out. Don’t just leave your kid with their own meds and expect they’ll take it. This could also pose a safety concern. If you don’t know how to handle your teenager and they’re out of control, seek support groups and resources. Your not alone. Kids should learn from this visit to make sure they take care of their mental health but they need their parents too for help support. This place isn’t going be like Disney land but it’s a holding place for people that are a danger to themselves and others. All those are rules are in place for a reason TRUST me. Read, draw, write, color, watch TV, play games and study to pass the time.

I was a Patient there for approximately 9 months. A Wonderful Atmosphere and you’re surrounded by ppl who Really Care.
Especially the Counselors, My Counselor in Particular. Her Name was Jenn. A Wonderful Person and an Absolute Dear young Lady.
She was Extremely informative and Knows just how to make you feel Comfortable and Cared For.
I was going through a Rough patch, but looked Forward to my meetings with her every week and Every time I left her office, I ALWAYS FELT BETTER AND FELT LIKE SOMEONE CARED..
I can Honestly Say, Meeting Jenn was a Highlight of my Time there.
I only left there because I found a place Much Closer to my home out East.
But my Counselor there will always be close to my heart.

I have to give a glowing review for the Onology Department. The head doctor, residents, fellows, nurses, receptionist (Morictia), medical assistant and staff are fantastic. They all care about their patients. They are professional, friendly, attentive, hard-working, and knowledgeable.
My uncle is a cancer patient and came in worried and scared of the process. The staff put him at ease through the whole journey.
The time I spent with my uncle taking him to his appointment I was able to witness how the staff work together.
I'm satisfied with all the services provided.
I know this hospital get a bad rap but there are clinicians and staff that are really good in there roles.
Only thing you have to be patient because you will be waiting for a while. They take there time. Don't mind though.

Amazing Acute Reahab Center. They helped with my hip recovery and I always felt that they really cared about me. Hopefully I'll never need them again but would recommend them to anyone. Also the food is great!!!

Excellent rehab Hospital. I came here to rehab after my back surgery. Very professional! The PT and OT sessions really got me back on my feet. I had 3 hours a day while under the care of doctors and nurses. Everyone is very nice and cared about my welfare. I saw many hospital administrators who wanted to make sure I was happy with my rehab. Social worker was awesome. I even saw the VP of rehab medicine who I felt, was genuinely concerned for my comfort. I cannot say enough good things about this Rehab facility. The whole Catholic Health group is fabulous. The employees are to be happy working here. Even the food is great. I would definitely recommend this facility.

I was at the lowenstein building for 10 days . The initial intake was smooth. The medical staff and everyone else was kind and calm. The food wasn’t bad . Unlimited phone time and an hour of fitness outdoors everyday. What more can you ask for? Great hospital

Amazing service & treatment. As I walked in the ER I was immediately addressed, acknowledged and taken care of. I was amazed how everyone including MD’s, medical students, nurses and all the staff were involved in my care. This is the most taken care of and clean & sanitary EMR. Security is amazing I felt no harsh emotions and unsafe at anytime!! The 2nd best is the ER patients and escorts have free parking! The cleaners are hard working and don’t miss a beat! Amazing experience all around!

I would like to say Thank you for these particular nurses so professionalism to their work with kindness of heart coz willing to treat their patients with empathy, passion and most importantly to show your patients that you value them. Even though, their life in the short period.
These ( PCA )department nurses all worked tremendously unfortunately, my husband is one of the patient here and he is in the illness condition now.
These few nurses really deserve a highly recognition for their contribution the quality of their work for being such a wonderful soul to treat the patient with care, gentle and love.

I am a single mother of two children who suffers from major depression and alcoholism. A little over a year ago I walk into Project Outreach broken like never before. I was scare because I lost hope. Their treatment plan saved me.
I will like to give Stephanie Blackwood an special shout out because I would not have made it this far without her expertise and compassion towards me. Emdr is a great treatment for trauma. The Recovery groups are lead by an amazing team of experts. All the therapist, psychiatrist and more are at master level and above. Everything about New Horizon is wonderful! I have been going to New Horizon for over a year and have always had a great experience. I completed treatment here with Gianna who is on the 3rd floor , I must say when I initially started I didn’t think I was going to get much out of it and I had A LOT going on in my personal life. Gianna was the breath of fresh air I needed, she was warm, welcoming and made me feel so comfortable talking to her and telling her what I’ve been dealing with.
