I've been here 10 days today and I couldn't think of a better place to go... That's if you want a nice quiet way to recover...you can have a phone and even go online and do virtual meetings (AA/NA) now don't get me wrong it's not a perfect program but, what is...My point is what you put in you get out and alternately it's your recovery...So yes it has it's fault however overall it works if you work it... IT'S NOT FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT NOR THOSE WHO NEED IT BUT FOR THOSE WHO DO IT 🙏🙏🙏 Amen... Craig Schumate 1 year ago As with any treatment facility, your recovery depends on the work you put into it. My experience at Phoenix House was extremely helpful for me and overall was a positive experience. It is very easy to get distracted and focus on the downsides of the facility however I was taught (there) about changing my perspective and that made it easy for me to have acceptance and continue focusing on myself. I have been to many treatment centers in the past and have never had a counselor that cared or helped me as much as Michael Robinson did. The facility director Dave S. is great at what he does and from what I witnessed handled any/all issues fairly and promptly. Dave also ran groups which I found to be extremely informative and helpful. Special thanks to the chef Arthur who was extremely accommodating to my unique diet. An even bigger thank you to RSS Rob who in my opinion helped me just as much as Mike and Dave did. I can't speak for how it is today but if it weren't for them I wouldn't be where I am today. If you don't want help you aren't going to be open to it so you can't fault the facility. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond for the patients. This was my one and hopefully only experience, but I am incredibly grateful that I chose Retreat (New Haven). My therapist was PHENOMENAL! If you are willing to do the work, commit to yourself that YOU are worth the time & energy needed that it takes to truly recover, and remain sober then I highly recommend you give Retreat a try.
