A Peaceful, Supportive Community.
Freedom Recovery House in Durham has been a true blessing. It’s given me a peaceful space to heal and connect with others who understand the recovery journey. The sense of community here is powerful—I’ve found comfort in sharing, listening, and growing alongside my peers. It’s more than a recovery house; it’s a place where I feel heard, supported, and at peace.

I have been here for a long time and have 27 take homes. If u actually wanna get clean and not just use it bc u can’t find anything else than the place is good plus since getting a new head nurse “that we needed so bad” n when Anna was the director things have gotten much better. even tho Anna is not there anymore she got it together and it seems like the new director is following her lead, the only bad thing I can say about Baart is if someone skips line or being disrespectful and you say something then I would be punished by holding my take homes over my head while the other person who started the mess has no take home’s receive no kinda punishment.

Medicaid is accepted, while assistance is available to uninsured and underinsured individuals to help them access enrollment and coverage. I want to extend a special shout out to Miguel, Mana, and Charlie. When my father-in-law's ride home was canceled and the companies he uses didn't have any drivers available for four hours, these men became our guardian angels. I recently had the pleasure of receiving care at the GI Clinic at the Durham VA Health Care System, and I cannot say enough positive things about my experience. From the moment I arrived until the time I left, every member of the team demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to providing exceptional care.
The nursing staff was absolutely incredible. A special thank you to Amed, Levi, and Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, informed, and well cared for throughout my visit. Their kindness, attentiveness, and expertise made a tremendous difference and helped ease any concerns I had. They treated me with respect and dignity, and it was clear they truly care about the veterans they serve.
I would also like to recognize Ashton at the front desk. Ashton was welcoming, courteous, and efficient from the moment I checked in.
The entire GI Clinic team exemplifies what patient-centered care should look like. The coordination, communication, and professionalism displayed by everyone involved were truly remarkable. As a veteran, I find it reassuring to know that such dedicated healthcare professionals are serving our community.
Thank you to Amed, Levi, Adrian, Ashton, and the entire GI Clinic staff for providing such exceptional care. Your hard work, compassion, and commitment to excellence are greatly appreciated and do not go unnoticed. I am extremely grateful for the outstanding treatment I received and would highly recommend this clinic to any veteran in need of GI care.

I normally go to Duke Hospital in Durham due to my complicated health issues. Last Friday, I had no choice but to go to Alamance Regional Hospital by ambulance because I was in such bad condition. Upon arriving in the Emergency Room, I was triaged quickly and seen by Dr. Evan Bradler. He listened to my complaint and went to work. I required a CT scan and blood work. He returned to the room and said I had Pancreatitis. It was a little hard to believe because I don't have about an inch of my Pancreas left from a surgery 5 years ago. Dr. Bradler was exactly right! The BEST emergency room DR. I've ever had! And I've seen plenty in my 73 years. I was admitted to the hospital and spent 3 days letting my pancreas cool down from the inflammation. I was treated by Dr. Natalie Alexander, the hospital staff Dr. I didn't need a specialist! She WAS one! Her knowledge was incredible! What care! My Nurses, Susana and Zolia, Marco (NA), Amber (NA) were the best I've had anywhere! They CARE and are well trained. I have to mention Dr. Xilin NIU, what a smile! The cafe is know for it's excellent food and staff. The Lady that sanitized my room daily was efficient and so friendly! So, to sum it up my pancreas was taken care of and I was able to come home yesterday and am doing GREAT! I am so impressed with every aspect of Cone Alamance Regional Hospital and had to write this review. Thanks to CHARH for taking care of me and being so nice to my wife!

Durham, NC | Carolina House is a behavioral health treatment center in Durham, North Carolina. They’re most well known for their eating disorder treatment, but they have mental health treatment, too, including drug and alcohol addiction care. The addiction recovery and mental health program here is a residential rehab. They work with clients ages 18 and old | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I greatly benefitted from my 4 week stay at Carolina House. While it was not perfect (no place is), I would definitely go back in the future if needed. One thing to note: I almost didn't go because the sample schedule they send you looks packed full from morning to night. This is definitely not the case. There's far more break time than group time. In fact, groups are frequently cancelled and are often shorter than the allotted time (which was my biggest complaint while there, since I had come in hopes of an intensive therapy experience). That said, the groups are mostly helpful and the staff were usually pleasant. The house is clean and comfortable and the back deck is nice when the weather permits.

Carolina House saved my life. I am forever grateful for my amazing therapist, Marisa, and dietician, Sarah, who worked extremely hard to help me reach my goals. CH was flexible with my needs and made me feel safe and comfortable. With any treatment center, there were flaws. You have to be motivated and willing to do the work independently as at times the supervision is limited. I was exposed to many new foods that I previously would have never tried! Shout out to Kenly for all the variety. 1:1 Exposures, restaurant outings, and weekend outings made you feel more “normal” in a stressful situation. The BHA’s were always there when needed, even in the middle of the night. Nursing never made me feel like a burden or uncomfortable when talking about health concerns. The homelike setting made it easier to carry over skills when I was discharged. Be brave and do the next right thing.

This facility saved my life. I don't have enough good words to say about Carolina House. Staff were so great. I had a wonderful therapist (Anna) and a great dietitian (Emma). I was challenged in ways I didn't realized I need to be challenged in. I left in such a good place in my recovery thanks to Carolina House. There are definitely problems with the facility but there is no perfect facility. There might be some problems but the good outweighs the bad. You do need to be in a place where you want recovery as this program is meant for those with self-accountability.

Yes, sometimes you have to try different things, for those of you out there that think you get a magic wand and a solution the first time. Mrs./Miss Millard is really a gem and an asset to the Duke Psychiatry system. I cannot thank her and the Duke system enough for existing and having staff that can empathize with what some people may be experiencing. This place is a godsend. They have a variety of doctors that can help you with whatever problem you are having. My doctor in particular is very awesome. For the following reasons:
1. He talks to me on basically a equal level.
2. He always says what he suggests we try as part of my therapy plan, but he then asks me if I would like to try it. This is important because by giving me the choice instead of lording over me, it makes it more likely that I will try it with an open mind.
3. He's really super nice to me.
4. He's not judgemental of the things that I tell him about. He just asks if that's working for me. Oftentimes we find out it isn't and he suggests an alternative idea in that regard.
Your experience may be different depending upon the physician you get but they have a variety of new and seasoned professionals there to help you with your life goals.

My grandson started YE last school year. The program is great and emphasizes accountability. My grandson blamed everyone else but himself for his behavior. The counselors and therapist have worked with him and I have seen a big change in his behavior. The school was calling me weekly if not daily some weeks. It took a little while but I’ve only received one call from the school this year. The counselors stay abreast of what’s happening in the child’s life and work with school officials and parents to obtain a more positive outcome for the child. I can’t praise the team enough for the work they’ve done and continue to do daily. Every team member I’ve spoken with have left me with the impression they care.

Highly recommend using school therapy for children, regardless of their mental illness status. Youth Extensions, Inc. is an affordable mental healthcare firm that's accommodating, trustworthy, and uses open communication to aid in the mental wellness and security of your child. Parents can't be everywhere with their child, but a program like this is as close as it gets.
