The staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, respectful, non judgmental & easy to open up to. You’ll feel warmly welcomed even as you walk into the front door. My guard was definitely up when I began at the clinic. I’ve been there for several years & don’t know where my life would be without the clinic & staff members I’ve grown to know & trust. I highly recommend this facility no matter where you are in the hopes of long term recovery. Recovery is a lot of work but oh so worth its success! I give praise where praise is due & this clinic deserves it in so many ways!

I love the staff! They put their lives on the line to make sure they are open for us. They are so dedicated and kind. The dosing nurse's are very patient and definitely put up with so much from some of the people who should be just thankful for the opportunity to be here. I'm so grateful for them and I'll always recommend that people who are looking for a new start in life and a way out of their addiction. You Should come here! I was inpatient for 5 days. All of the staff in my unit were helpful and kind. Not just with task but with the overall process and day to day procedures. Most of the staff I encountered have been working there for years; they know what they are doing and what they are dealing with. The food was actually good. They offer plenty of options and alternatives! They also accommodate to special diets i.e dairy free, vegetarian, religious etc.. The staff actually eats the food! Which to me, was a good sign! There were multiple issues during my stay that required room rearrangement/alternative placement due to safety concerns involving patients and/or staff; one involving myself. Arrangements were made quickly and solutions were implemented immediately to ensure patient and staff safety. I was pleased with how my situation was handled by staff and felt safe. There was an intern who lead some very informative groups!! The activities person was great. As a former head housekeeper for a Marriott hotel I was extremely pleased with the cleaning lady. She overheard me talking about the greasy hand printed windows and she cleaned them for us! We were watching the squirrels. It smelled clean when she was there. Cons- My unit Delta had a broken set of washer/dryer leaving only one function set of machines for 20+ adults. Most people only have 1 or two sets of clothing. They had very limited communal clothing so many people wore hospital gowns while their clothing was in laundry. Many patients complained about the shower water not being hot or taking up to 20 minutes to get warm… I ended up not showering the whole 5 days I was inpatient except at the sink because of this. My unit was only allowed markers and crayons to write with. The supply was pretty low when I got there. They had a locked box, which the patient advocate opened, I requested new markers and someone brought out new markers to the activity room the same day. Not sure if it was because of my note or if a staff member just noticed the marker supply was low but either way that’s great and was a quickly met request. They provide notebooks for patients and encourage journaling which helps pass the time. My biggest issue was the floors! Although they were cleaned everyday, they were dry mopped and then swifter wet jet type mopped. That works well to maintain an already clean floor but not as the main way of cleaning an already filthy floor. Shoes with laces are not allowed meaning almost everyone is walking around in socks, some people barefoot, on FILTHY FLOORS. Yuck. The floors were so sticky you could hear the techs walking from all the way down the hall. The floors are due for a proper mop or professional cleaning service which would include moving the tables and chairs in the dining room and activity room. When I brought the floors up to a nurse she stated that the floors are also bad in their back offices. Which I was actually glad to hear because that meant it wasn’t only being done that way in patient areas but overall on all the floors. The dining room smelled awful not from the food but from the floors. I was told the dining room was down 1 table. Each table sat 4 people. Meaning there wasn’t enough seating in the dining room for all the patients in the unit. I received a phone call while I was in, and a phone message got to me as well. Meaning my family who knew I was there was able to get through and talk to me. There is limited time allotted for calls but exceptions were allowed if needed. Overall I would recommend this facility. The food choices were good with plenty of options. All the staff were helpful and knew what they were doing. I was able to make and receive calls. I was already connected with a therapist, case worker and psychiatrist prior to my admission; staff arranged appointments with them before my discharge. If you don’t have those services they help you arrange them before your departure for success upon discharge. If you have someone to pick you up and don’t have to wait for transportation you get discharged quicker.

So far this place has gone above and beyond for my child. I only speak during visits but he calls his dad during the night. His therapist regularly calls me and updates me on his improvements. The staff is very nice. But when you take you child things the reception dont seem to give the kids there belonging. I hope he does eventually get the things we bring him and when he does ill post about it!! So I do not know why there are so many crappie reviews cause its been a week so far and they have been 100% the best i couldn't of asked for a better place for him!!! And they do separate boys and girls and the "house",I call them are done in age groups and what sex they are!

This is where I went to my first and only recovery treatment center. I came in as dual diagnosis but I did not need detox (thankfully). I had never been in an addiction treatment center before, and White Deer Run was definitely an experience. I do believe I stayed the full 28 days. It's been so long I'm having a hard time remembering my actual treatment year. I would love to say I went to White deer Run and I stayed in recovery since. This was not the case however, I did go back out 😢. I learned a lot while I was there though, I learned that I could Not 🚫 escape the facility 😂. This might Not 🚫 make sense to some people reading this. This facility is almost impossible to leave once you have started the program for many reasons. I did not try to escape, but I watched many try. They returned very frustrated and tired as they walked back up the steep hill from the town below. The whole reason I really wanted to do a thank you or a shout out to WDR is because during my treatment I attended a meditation workshop. It was my first encounter with a monk. I sat down crossed my legs and then quickly prayed for the session to be over with. I was unhealthy and my legs had fallen deeply asleep, pins and needles 👀. I am grateful for THAT moment, I began My ✋🏻 journey learning patience. If you have really had it with the "Drug and Alcohol Scene", and I mean YOU [Not just your family and friends] go for it ✅ 🤍 Thank you White Deer 🦌 Run ~ Erica

In my opinion the best rehab in Pennsylvania. Very polite & honest staff who neither sugarcoat the truth -- does the opposite of helping --& does not judge the patients. All fair treatment & the patients rarely do not enjoy their time, seen many friendships develop & the staff are skilled in their field. It is in a very rural area so no Wifi but you can make landline phone calls. Expect many birds lol. All in all I recommend to anyone to grow & be inspired

Thank you Counsilor Bob & Counsilor Paige!! They were absolutely phenomenal with my loved one. My loved one has some concerning mental health diagnoses, but those two counsilors made their rehab stay the best possible. I truly have hope in their recovery this time. They have been to multiple rehabs previously and I have never seen them this good mentally (drug and mental health wise). Thank you so much!! I'll be honest, I have read some of the reviews and got really concerned prior to them coming, but I couldn't be more thankful for the counsilors they had throughout their stay.

I've been meaning to write this for some time, but after reading some of the other reviews posted on here, decided I want to share my own experience. I have a family member who came here when that person was really struggling, not only with SA and sobriety, but with life in general while navigating a life of sobriety. I am purposefully keeping this person's identity ambiguous because this person doesn't wish to disclose their identity. This person was very nervous and anxious to begin treatments anywhere and chose this clinic based on the reviews posted here. This person was matched with Cory for counseling. Cory has been absolutely amazing. He is incredibly easy to talk to, doesn't make my loved one feel the typical stigma that's attached to SA, and has become a mentor and trusted confidant. My loved one says that Cory doesn't JUST focus on SA and sobriety, he helps his clients with everyday life struggles, like issues that sometimes come up at the workplace, dealing with trauma like the death of close family members, troubles with traumas that occured in childhood, and traumas related to past he helps to treat the WHOLE PERSON, and and doesn't focus solely on the addiction issues. My loved one says that it's not just the medicine that helps an addict live a life in recovery. It's the counselor who helps the addict live a life free of SA. They say it's the combination of the two that's really helped them stay sober for several years now. I know most people reading this are probably most concerned about dosing. So, it starts out with dosing at a certain MG based on the information given at intake, and probably COWS testing, etc. The lines are very short, if there's a line at all, and most of the nurses that dose are nice. I've been inside the clinic before, and it's very clean. There seems to be plenty of seating, and there's a TV in the waiting room. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean, but there is a camera in them, lol, I'm assuming that when the clients have to submit a UA. You USED to start by dosing every day during the week and get a take-home for Sunday with your Saturday in-clinic dose. If you've followed the program by having clean UAs and getting in the minimum amount of counseling hours, you get one week of take-homes after around 6 months. If you continue to stay on the program, you get 2 weeks of take-homes after around 13 months. You get a month of take-homes after doing what you're supposed to for appx 26 months. However, thers a new director, and tbings are changing at the moment. They can call you at any time the clinic is open to count your bottles and do a UA. If you've tampered with your bottles, lose one of your bottles, or failed a UA, there's obviously going to be consequences. I can't tell you exactly what they are, because my loved one has maintained sobriety! The staff were all very friendly to me, with the exception of one lady, who I've been told is the new director. This has been the only individual who has EVER not been extremely warm and friendly to me. She seemed like she didn't want to be there or something, Im not really sure. My loved one says that she has started implementing new rules that, to me, seem to discourage new clients to choose this clinic and may drive current clients to other clinics. I dont know exactly what else she has in store for clients in upcoming months, but it seems that she's going to make things a bit more challenging for new and current clients, which really sucks, for lack of better words. This clinic, and counselors like Cory, are the main reason my loved one has been able to remain sober this long, and we fear that things are going to change in a negative way. So, while we recommend this clinic to anyone struggling, I'll be sure to update this review in a couple of months to see if this new director makes changes that lower the star rating. I really really recommend this place- as far as counselors, I obviously recommend Cory, but I know that Julie and Sarah are also really good people. Good luck in your recovery!!!
