Thank you New Mexico wellness! New Mexico wellness is a great place to get treatment. You are able to discuss the issues that cause you to drink. You get more than lessons on breathing, mindfulness and emotional regulation. You get true care and support. I was discharged early due to my dishonest behavior. However I have been out for 5 days now and have not had a drink. Every other rehab I've been to I either had a drink the same day or the day after I left. I have true hope for my future. They have medically assisted treatment for both alcohol and narcotics. I highly recommend New Mexico wellness. They're not perfect but neither is anybody or any place. I got what I needed to stay sober for the rest of my life I truly do thank New Mexico wellness and all the staff.

This place doesn’t deserve one star but it wouldn’t let me post without one. Do not go to this place!! First of all it’s drug infested. Second of all they keep your personal belongings. I’m pretty sure they distributed all of his brand new toiletries laundry soap and new carton of cigarettes and food we took over there. His brand new t shirts. They left my son unattended in Albuquerque at a hospital with Covid and then didn’t let him return at 9:00 the next morning. Needless to say, they are now telling me they destroyed or distributed all his belongings. I can’t believe the way they run things over there. It’s hard enough that most times in addiction, people tend to lose everything but the clothes on their back and it’s pretty sad when the rehabs don’t bother caring and the rehab itself decides it’s okay to get rid of whatever belongings the addict has left. I literally think this place is a joke. Please don’t send your addict family members here.

Albuquerque, NM | The Evolution Group, Inc., located in Albuquerque, New Mexic, has provided counseling services since 1998. Surrounded by the city’s unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, the center offers a welcoming space for people facing mental health challenges including substance use disorders. They take a holistic approach to addiction treat | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I’m new to both The Evolution Group and in-person therapy in general, but so far the experience has been… lovely. The space is like a protective compound of renovated homes with a central peaceful garden and multiple therapy spaces. It feels safe, comfortable, and thoughtful. The staff have made the process simple… like checking into a spa. My therapist, Crystal, is patient, warm, personable, and genuinely listens. I’ve only had 2 sessions, but all of the worry and anxiety of being in a new environment and situation melted away during the first session. We haven’t started the work of therapy just yet, but I’m optimistic about the journey given the amazing start.
Update: Seven months later and I'm still very much impressed. Crystal is a wonderful therapist and a beautiful soul. I'll be honest, the first 4 months felt like a rinse and spin cycle. That's just my experience of the process, but the team there made it easy to be a patient. Something strange... that place feels familiar and safe, like going home (in a good way). My Experience in a Questionable Rehab Program
I hesitated to write this for a long time, but sharing it has helped me find closure.
A few years ago, I entered what I believed to be a structured 30-day rehabilitation program. From the start, the environment felt unusually restrictive — communication with family was limited and monitored, and group meetings often felt more performative than supportive. After completing the initial program, I moved into the affiliated sober-living facility, where the culture became increasingly controlling and emotionally intense.
The program emphasized “accountability” in ways that often crossed personal boundaries and blurred the lines between discipline and control. Residents were required to report their whereabouts constantly, attend multiple mandatory meetings each day, and publicly disclose personal issues in group settings that sometimes felt more punitive than therapeutic. Leadership maintained tight control over daily routines and communication, creating an atmosphere of fear and dependency rather than recovery.
Ultimately, I was dismissed from the program for reasons I found unclear and disproportionate. The experience left me emotionally drained but also deeply reflective. It taught me a great deal about personal boundaries, the importance of ethical treatment environments, and how easily “help” can become coercion when power is misused.
While it was painful, the experience strengthened my sense of autonomy and empathy for others navigating recovery. I share this not to assign blame, but to encourage discernment and transparency in organizations that claim to help vulnerable people.

I left a pretty bad review about 5 years ago. I decided to stay at Duke City and have had a few bad problems since. Really bad staff like them messing up my insurance payments and trying to blame me.
But......
This place is a big part of the reason I'm going to be sober for 10 years in August. It's the reason I have take homes and live a normally relative life. The reason I can hold good jobs. The reason I'm not dead in a gutter. So with that being said, things change. I've seen a LOT of change over the years. About 5 years ago a very overzealous counselor finally left, she was a good counselor but far too influential with management and defensive of really stupid policies like the early open access. Like I said things have changed a lot. Groups are optional now. You can do counseling over the phone. Good stuff. Just.. stay on top of any payment plan you have. And I strongly recommend not using private insurance because billing seems to work with medicaid 99% of the time and any time I've tried to use Cobra insurance or private insurance they have screwed it up and I end up on a payment plan. I still never got reimbursed by the way. They must owe me two or three checks over the years but what ever.
My top concern is that I get my treatment. And I do. My counselor calls me. I get my medicine. Things are okay. So i changed my review from a one to a four after 5 years. I think that is fair.
I do wish however that they use a nurse to do the observed UAs. Nothing against the security guards but it feels like I'm in a parole office rather than a treatment center. I'm here voluntarily. I also don't appreciate it when I have legitimate trouble peeing and the workers immidiately go straight for the stick and say "oh well we can just mark you as a dirty"
If you actually look at my record I haven't had a dirty since I started treatment nearly a decade ago. Why would I want a dirty now? I just need to drink some water you fool...
Other than that, things are good. The clinic is in a good space. Best in years. I strongly recommend management take the win and try not to dramatically change things because this is their peak. Best they have been in years. Keep it up. Please. I can't go back go pre pandemic Duke city. I just cant. That was brutal.

My grandson is in here. It took him a bit to adjust. He's been in here for a bit he doesn't like being locked up. But he's been to a few other places before he got here. But this place is way better than the other facilities he's been in. Who is going to like being locked up the question is are you going to learn from it or keep on doing the same thing. Break the rules you come to a place like this one or you go to a juvenile detention center. This place is like a retreat by comparison. They let your parents bring you healthy foods snacks games books you don't get those in other facilities. Especially in juvenile detention nothing goes in.

Albuquerque, NM | A New Day – Safe Home is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They provide shelter and a continuum of care for youth between the ages of 14 and 24 experiencing homelessness. This includes an initial assessment, coordinating clinical and behavioral health care, life skills development through classes and courses and assistance in finding long-term | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I stayed here back in the beginning of 2018 till almost the ending of it I know it might have drastically changed here but when I was here most of the staff was helpful and really nice, gave you respect if you respected them. I feel this place is only good for someone staying here for shelter. Definitely not a way to get help unless your 16 and can go to the youth services nextdoor for even more support as long as I have remembered since the shelter can be holding kids that barely got out of a detention center.
