Gainesville, Florida | Malcolm Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center offers drug rehab services and other services to veterans who are living in and around Gainesville, Florida. They treat drug addictions, alcohol addictions and dual diagnosis conditions, which means anyone who suffers from co-occurring mental health conditions. I was very impressed with the range of l | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I have been going to the vascular clinic due to chronic venous inefficiency. Yesterday, October 29th 2025, I had surgery to remove a "very bad" vein in my lower right leg. Even though there was a long delay because a pipe had broken in the basement causing electrical issues, everything went exceptionally well. I was treated with kindness and respect the entire time. The nursing staff were all amazing. I can't say enough good things about the anesthesiologist and his assistant. I just wish I could recall their names. They were so good to me and they explained everything they were going to do in great detail. They treated me with great respect. And finally, my surgeon, Dr. Scott Berceli. I could not have possibly been in better hands. He explained the entire procedure and met with my wife while I was in recovery. He explained everything to her as well, including what to do and not do during my recovery period. He is absolutely fantastic. I can not give the entire staff enough praise. From start to finish, it was awesome!

Gainesville, Florida | UF Health Florida Recovery Center is in the Florida city of Gainesville. It’s a substance use disorder treatment facility operated by the University of Florida. They’re staffed with addiction medicine specialists that include licensed behavioral health counselors and psychiatrists. Clients struggling with addiction can receive psychological te | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I can't recommend FRC enough. This organization has truly been a life-changer and life-saver for me.
My journey with FRC began in 2007 when I was a patient receiving care. I was at the lowest point in my life after years of substance use and a near fatal suicide attempt. Under the care of Dr. Teitelbaum, The support I found there was instrumental in introducing me to recovery, and I am incredibly grateful for the nearly 18 years of sobriety I have today because of that start.
To come full circle and later spend over 12 years working on the incredible FRC Team has given me a unique perspective. I will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to witness firsthand the profound, life-changing work that happens there every single day. My appreciation for FRC, its mission, and its dedicated staff is immense. Unfortunately, I am starting a new job in another city to be closer to my family, but I will always carry FRC with me.
If you or a loved one is seeking help, you are in the best possible hands.

"It works, if you work it, so work it, you're worth it!"
I came to the Florida Recovery Center a broken man, suicidal, no self-confidence, and a great lack of a sense of purpose and worth. Through intensive individual therapy, group therapy, recreation therapy, in-depth 12 Step assignments and application, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), a multitude of informative and illuminating lectures (medical, recreational, spiritual, relational), and a greatly supportive community of people all working on the same goal of sobriety and sanity, I have been able to begin my life anew.
I am now 90 days sober for the first time in 30 years thanks to FRC (Florida Recovery Center)!!!! I would not be alive to write this review had they not believed in me and, likewise, I had not believed and trusted the process.
YOU must surrender to the process, be vulnerable, and be willing to choose LIFE for yourself - a good life without dragging around the heavy burdens of guilt, shame, and regret.....BUT YOU have to be honest with yourself and them or it probably won't work.
IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT SO WORK IT YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!!

Gainesville, Florida | UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital, located in Gainesville, Florida, provides alcohol and drug rehab services, dual diagnosis treatment, and mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults in an age-specific format. Detoxification and inpatient services are available. The detoxification program is a medically monitored program that | Treatments Programs Payment Options | As soon as I calm down & get hydrated, and comfy and clean in my bed, my experiences at Uf Health Shands Vista have become quite pleasant; as long as I can find people who can understand, trust, and believe me. Multiple trips outside and keeping a healthy diet ; looking forward to the meal, shower, and sleep times ; listening to music, staying busy with writing & drawing, attending every group, and sharing my experiences with people who understand is very beneficial for my mental health. I am a longtime Uf Health & Shands patient, as I am a native Gainesville, Floridian. First, I would just like to mention in the mental health department… some employees, can or will not show empathy , which can make the experience quite disheartening & difficult to find happiness or make healthy progress.Miss ‘Lauren Hertell’ was rude to my mother and I when she visited me . She said loudly and I quote “You’re on your own mama” . And laughed. I was also verbally & physically threatened by a very tall, large fellow who almost reached the ceiling in stance. they didn’t remove him until the next night. I could hardly sleep. There was also a tech who wore a bun that would smirk & laugh at me before she went home for the night. I was put on phone restriction for days for accidentally dialing 911. We had to dial 9-1 before calls and unfortunately, I never received any notifications about any calls, which would have made my day. Now, all the honorable mentions: Huge shoutout to Miss Laura who hunted down an important phone number for me. Hi, Barbie! (Barbara), Britney, Mr ‘Joe’ , Miss Karen, Gabriel, Ben, Laura, Danny, Dorian (Grey) , Tre, Miss Vilma, Miss Mia, Jacqueline, etc.. everybody. Also my sweet nurse who went and found me contact solution when I needed it.Thank you guys; from the techs, housekeepers, doctors, RN’s, and of course Dr Moore and Dr Solomon… By the end of my stay, I can healthily & properfly communicate with the staff and they show me kindness & respect back. It’s just a lonely place if you are alone or don’t have familial support. Thank you all and with all due respect, I hope to never HAVE to see you again.

First the positives: Most of the nurses are incredibly nice, caring and accommodating to requests. My therapist Laura, and the weekday Psychiatrists were great! Unlike other reviews, I had multiple people review my concerns about medication and I had many people discuss the options with me and the concerns that I had. Particularly related to the potential long-term brain effects that I had heard research about increasing your risk of Alzheimer's. Ultimately, the decision was to start with a very low dose, which I was welcome to try and discontinued if I had any unpleasant side effects. It was very much a collaborative, non pressured approach to medication. We had two wireless phones available for 7 am to 10 pm and could provide a list of approved callers. In fact, (I witnessed) if you did not have someone on your list, they would not confirm or deny that you were there, but they would make note of that person's call, share that they had called, and would ask the patient if they were interested in adding that person to their list. They, had some games, puzzles. The negatives, and how they were managed: The intake process was very long, I get the impression it's very difficult for them to determine when the "busy time" for intake will be. Your introduction to your "pod" for a lack of a better term, (definitely has prison vibes) was horrible. Getting a "skin check" which was just short of a strip search was logical, but not comfortable. The fact that it was co-ed was immediately off-putting to me, I didn't know the schedule,
and I didn't Initially feel safe. A nurse should have come to explain the schedule or provided a welcome pamphlet explaining things. The would have been very helpful. I did have a psychology fellow come speak with me which helped put me at ease. I did not get one second of sleep the first night. The prison type bed was extremely uncomfortable. I was near the nurses station and for whatever reason between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. that room was entered or exited at least a hundred times. The loud door was awful. In their defense the kind nurse did offer melatonin but I didn't feel safe so I didn't want it. This caused me to be incredibly anxious, very frustrated, and resistant to opening myself to the process. My door was opened at least 3 times per hour to check on me for safety. I felt a camera would make more sense. However, when I shared my issues, I received a pad for my bed, ear plugs, and melatonin. Then I slept great! I got a lot out of group time, which helped everyone feel more comfortable with each other. The food in one word was "mediocre." I am interested in nutrition so I can definitely say you get plenty of food, and there are some relatively nutritious options but overall it's pretty much hospital food. With a little bit of junk food mixed in. They allow very little outside time which is a bad idea, everyone wanted outside time. The weekend had less scheduled time which left people bored. My therapist managed to scrounge up a note book but many people said the would benefit from journaling. A case manager said she would resolve that issue and agreed saying "we usually have journals." Overall, I think people can choose to get something out of this setting if you understand that most of the things are designed for safety.

I was there for possible blood infection and septicemia. All though I waited for 9 hours in the waiting room and then 11 hours in the ER room itself, every nurse and Dr was polite and courteous. Apologized for the long wait to get to my room in the Med/Surgery unit. The nurses and Drs on the floor were professional and great to help me for the whole 9 days I was there. From the volunteers to case managers to the patient advocate, all combined to give me a great experience. The only thing that I did not like was the phlebotomists blew almost every vein I had. They had to call the vascular team to come in a get an I.V. started. Other than that, it was cool. Tyvm for a great experience in healthcare. Appreciate it and GBY.

Metamorphosis literally saved my life.
I was court ordered to be at meta through drug court. The rules and 'tattling' is very contradictory to what addicts are used to. The purpose is to learn to hold other accountable for their actions. AA and NA did nothing for me. Bridgehouse did nothing for me. Meta was the only place to recognize what was causing me to use and address that.
I graduated in 2012. I am still clean. Almost 9 years now.
Recovery is different for everyone but hold on to the 'keeping secrets' and 'not snitching' behaviors of my using life wouldn't have helped me get this far.
Samantha Roberts

I didn’t like the process when I first arrived. Holding each other accountable seemed a lot more like snitching or tattling than anything helpful. I felt like many things seemed conflict inducing at first for sure. I soon realized I was being provided a structure to implement better decision making during my time there and with that acquiring tools to take with me after leaving treatment. There’s nothing crazy about anything there in my opinion. The rules are the rules and there are consequences if you break them. They provide everything you need and then some. The staff is wonderful and really care about everyone there whether it’s voluntary or court ordered (majority were voluntary when I left a month ago). I needed to stay longer but had to leave due to circumstances at home that had to be addressed. I’ve been to treatment many times and I feel Meta has given me the very best chance to stay clean.I am a tough critic especially towards things that are stopping me from doing what I want. Meta is different for everyone but personally it’s the first place I would recommend to anyone.

I'm writing this review because me and my family have received an amazing gift Having recently moved to Interlochen with my four children from the devistation of pinnellas county it was a welcome journey to say the least. One of the things to be done was to get a new doctor and supporting staff with the VA in Palatka Florida. Physical, blood work and refills for my blood pressure. Meeting Tamara was the amazing gift. She navigated me smoothly thru the whole " new person in town " process. There was also an income update form which made me nervous being retired. I also felt like Tamara absolutely cared for me. I’m giving God the glory!!! Bridges not only instills a sober lifestyle! They give the men a structure and tools to live. I have another son who is sober 10 months he went to an insurance based rehab and thank you Jesus he’s still sober but I don’t see the love for God and the commitment to following the steps like I see in my other son and nephew. Again thank you Bridges of Hope!!
Paying for all the moms, dads, wives, family members to be supportive!!
Please God protect our men at Bridges and anyone who seeks help anywhere!!! In Jesus name, Amen
My sincerest appreciation and love, Miss Pam

Let me be clear here....there may be some errors in the following....but all is accurate and true, and nothing but a testament to the most true, relentless, and real actualization of a compassionate care program for the souls who face opioid use disorder on the daily, like myself. there is not one person, who in the throes of addiction, would be better off at any other threshold of any other door in Volusia county. Anywherel. Jenna Spurlock, the NEW program director, is absolutely and without a doubt not your orthodox, or stereotypical rehabilitation program overseer. Talk about a "franchise quarterback". (Tom Brady, for example). She is more kin to an angel, the way I see it. She has got a staff that has gone from what was once a high turnover, revolving door of mid level talents, and hit or miss with the social workers there to punch in, out, and then cash that check...is NOW an exemplary model of what I believe the opioid crisis in this country has a shot to be annoculated by. This hatchling program of Ms.Spurlock's design and engineering has turned around my life. And the life of more than a handful of the people in my life that I call friends, family, and acquaintances. A professional colleague, a school teacher, and multiple medical staff from other clinic types, beside our loved ones, everyday. This enables is to actually grow and live WITH our loved ones, whom at one time, in most cases, relationships became severely damaged via opioid addiction. Also using a blocker as sometimes they're referred to, these medicines like methadone actually keep people like me from experiencing any reward when we attempt a relapse. Keeping us safe in relapse...anf reducing and clearing all cravings ultimately. Yes, I have experienced this, on my life. What does the program look like to someone coming in, walk-in off the street? Well, I know the earlier the better for a walk in, but they'll always take ya if they physically, possibly can. YOU EILL BE DOSED THAT DAY...WITHDRAWAL WILL BE EASED, without a doubt. The induction process is aggressive and faster than anywhere else, so true physical addicts, have a chance to break fentanyl's hold on the body mind and spirit. Accept most insurance and will work with you whatever it takes, to create your victory over opioid addiction. Jenna Spurlock....she was the first compassionate caregiver to those struggling in opioid addiction or abuse disorder, Ive ever met. She is the first I've ever known to propegate a program where the addiction is viewed in each situation, Independently if anyone else's, and even the complexity of partnerships and spousal pairs who want to kick fentanyl to the curb. First and foremost I was able to avoid the withdrawal, and let time begin to heal my mind body and soul. Second the money I no longer spend in dope, has allowed me to get back on the horse in my career, and begin to rebuild what id lost long ago, at the hands of fentanyl, heroin, and the man in the mirror. The staff is not the revolving group of new faces it used to be. There's no line to get in. Jenna works this sense of verbal jiujitsu to disarm the enemy within most of us, holding ourselves hostage at needle point, if you will...and accessing our higher potentials through processes that she is the master of, and her staff of social working professionals and counselors, medical doctors and nurses distribute this ed, techniques, and care to the patient masses... they're best nurses; sweetest, nicest, most patient, easy vibing, and cute to boot. The easiest most supportive route to effective counseling, medication assisted treatments (i.e. m'th'done, subs) good social workers and a support system not nearly as large, but far more formidable than the current systems keeping the dark side of the drug biz running. Don't get me wrong, treatment starts and ends with YOU. never before though have I, a freelance, less than timid, extroverted, traveling musician gotten to look myself in my reflection's sober eyes, and tell me how much I love me. Jenna and her team showed me why.

Gainesville is the 342nd most expensive city nationwide for addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $49713. This is lower than the average cost of $56640 for addiction treatment in Florida and lower than the national average cost for drug rehab of $57,193.

The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of medical detox, inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, and medication assisted treatment. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below. There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Gainesville. Most rehab treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. Gainesville has the 363rd highest rate of drug use nationwide among nearly 400 cities surveyed. This number reflects the combined use of cocaine, heroin, meth, and marijuana, displayed individually below.
