I am finally giving this a review roughly 8 years after I left that 30 day transition program. Let’s be honest here, there was some rough moments while I was being assessed but that’s to be expected, why? Because everyone has different needs and working in that type of field, dealing with troubled kids, can be a difficult job. Here are my pros and cons.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS REVIEW WAS FROM ROUGHLY 8 YEARS AGO.
Cons:
1) I remembered a staff trimming her nails in the cafeteria while we were having breakfast and to me. It seems like some staff back in the day, worked there just for the convenience.
2) I was treated poorly by other patients in my group because they assumed false things about me.
3) The way they disciplined misbehaved kids was a bit cruel. After they restrained them, they would put them in a concrete room with pads full of (maybe memory foam). Each kid was told to sit on the pad (in the middle of the room) and calm down. There was a security camera in that room for safety, while there was a staff standing outside the room. There was a window high enough for the staff to peek into the room. I personally was in that room a few times and it felt horrible. The only positive thing that came out of that room was being on the other side, being with the group and feeling safe that the misbehaved kid wasn’t with our group for X amount of time.
PRO:
1) I learned what essential oils were and how useful they are to help calm the mind. I remembered a nighttime staff going out of her way to find a specific essential oil for me that was in a different part of the building, so that I can smell it throughout the night and relax during a tough time.
2) I remembered friendly compititions, popsicle stick catapults, street hockey and other friendly compititions where the winner gets one free meal from subway
3) I learned that photography is a great coping skills as well as essential oils.
4) despite having some issues with some other patients, I got a long with other patients.
5) We went to the Burch Barn to do the corn maze
6) we also went to the ecomart to grab some marshmallow fluff
7) despite feeling like some staff are working there for the convenience, I feel like the majority of the staff there are working to help misbehave kids.
8) Staff are very observant and responsive towards misbehaved kids and things that might develop.
Q) Why are you posting this review now and not years ago
A) I am posting this review now because I feel like I have reached my peak at changing. I will admit, it has taken years to change my behavior and learn how to live my life with my new behavior. I am in college for photography and this year is my first year as a freelance photographer. I have reached so many milestones this year, I feel like I have changed who I was and became a better person, with help from Northwest Passage.
I recommend this place to families with stuggling kids because even though I have had some negative experience at this place, I genuinely feel like they want to help those kids develop helpful skills as well as helping families too.

Wow! What a journey. Please take this seriously for those in addition or wanting to recover! I went here during covid season 2020 when I got my DUI. I was regretting it, didn't take it seriously, etc. I did my month time stay there. Went home continued with addiction cause I still didn't care. After mother's day weekend on 05.09.22 was my first day of sobriety. I'm still sober to this day. Let me tell you what, I've had the most fantastic experiences and time of my life sober! Looking back, wish I'd took things seriously. I even got off probation this year in June. I wasn't supposed to get off until November next year 2024. I mean God's work is honestly a blessing and you definitely feel him working thru you. I remember starting out here at this place, they said "higher power" and I'm like naw, I don't got that. Not even my kids. Oh yeah, God is my highest power! This place is amazing! Trust me! Great staff, food, location, etc! Just please get help! It's not worth your life ending on bad terms! I will never go back to that life style. Sobriety is just the coolest 😎 Lord the energy you have, stability, motivation, passion to keep striving and going in life! Yes!! No more laziness! It's just nice! Thank to this place and the DUI was a huge lesson I needed to kick my rear end into gear! Let's keep going! SOBRIETY ROCKS! SOBRIETY IS THE COOLEST 😎

This is an excellent treatment center. It's out in the country with a ton of wildlife, and a farm next door with emus, ostriches, horses and a zebra(that i didnt see but it was really cold). There are 4 different buildings so you get outside a lot. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They will help you with anything. From legal issues to Healthcare to filling out assistance forms and sending them in. They will bring you to offsite appointments and court dates. (You won't miss important things like a reviewer said) The food is decent, you will gain weight if you eat all the meals and finish them. While I was there we had an awesome community of people that were willing to help any way they could. There was no judgment if you opened up. The counselors are awesome and teach productive groups.
Other people in the program said it was the best treatment center they have ever been to.
The negative reviews are from family or partners that don't understand the person that went here didn't care about getting sober. Were just there for 3 meals and a warm bed. I watched this firsthand.
They have lockers and locking wall closets so it's your fault if something gets stolen. People steal no matter where they are so it's nieve to think it would change just because your in treatment. That's just a part of life sadly. I didn't see or hear that while I was there though.
Cedar Ridge gave me a very solid foundation for recovery and staying sober. Got me into an aftercare program where I wanted as well. Highly recommend to anyone who needs help getting sober and learning to staying sober.
THANK YOU CEDAR RIDGE STAFF!

I went here about 4 years ago, my counselor worked super hard along side jack to find the best ways to help me. It took a lot of work to get me to be willing to even try to change but they never gave up on me even after multiple times needing to go to residential and they encouraged me every step of the way. When i finally got sober they were my biggest cheerleaders and still are. Even after my counselor passed away jack has still continued to help me if i’m struggling and need support. Lake Elmo, MN | Willow Haven Intensive Residential, in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, provides inpatient mental and behavioral health care for adults, specializing in crisis intervention and patient stabilization, acute residential programming, and aftercare planning and support. Dedicated services are available for young adults and persons with co-occurring addiction and | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Willow Haven didn’t just give me a place to stay, it gave me space to heal.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt like more than just another name on a check-in sheet. The atmosphere is peaceful and comfortable, a true home setting that immediately puts your heart at ease. The meals? Five-star dinners every night. You can taste the love in every bite.
What makes Willow Haven stand apart, though, is the balance. The schedule is the perfect blend of structure and free time, just enough programming to challenge and grow, and just enough space to breathe, reflect, and rediscover who you are.
The staff?
They are the heartbeat of this place.
A rare blend of inspiration, guidance, and love — the kind that speaks into your life without judgment and walks beside you until you can walk on your own.
They don’t just teach recovery. They live it. And they pour themselves into every person who walks through the doors. You just have to be willing to receive it.
Willow Haven is more than a facility.
It’s a turning point.
A sacred pause.
A reset you didn’t know your soul needed.
Forever a blessing in my life.
I walked in broken, I’m leaving restored.

Amery, WI | Northwest Counseling and Guidance Clinic in Amery, Wisconsin, provides mental health and addiction treatment to clients of all ages, including individuals struggling with trauma and mental health conditions, as well as survivors of intimate partner violence. In terms of payment, Medicaid, state welfare funds, and other state-financed insurance plan | Treatments Payment Options | I wish we had more programs like this available in the area. They truly care about children/teens and their well-being. I only have experience with the Amery location but this program was life-changing for us and our child. You have to put in the work though, and be open to receiving outside feedback. I have heard mixed reviews from parents but I think it mostly depends on how you "embrace" the program and try to support your child by learning about their mental health. I gave 4/5 stars only because nobody is perfect.
