| Frederic, Wisconsin | Northwest Passage (NP) is a unique organization dedicated to helping children and adolescents overcome mental health challenges with a combination of traditional, art and nature based therapy methods. Their Prairieview Campus, situated about a mile south of Frederic, Wisconsin, is a location where they offer residential care to girls aged between 1 | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I know this is a really late review but My treatment was back in August of 2019 and the staff were great and they were really help full and they really help me get back on track with my life and get my mental health good and stable to good back out in to the community and the cooking staff were really good the food was really good and the staff really helped help me with my anger issues and helped me manage them better and the staff were just so helpful and the nurses were really nice to when they handed out my medication and my teacher was really helpful and nice to he was fun to we played a lot of games so I just want to thank you staff for helping me get my life and my mental health back together and stable to be able to go out in to the community and really appreciate and in joy what you staff help me with when I did my 30 days there thank you so much 💕❤️💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️💕💕💯💯💯💯💯 Colton Barnfield 2 months ago I am finally giving this a review roughly 8 years after I left that 30 day transition program. Let’s be honest here, there was some rough moments while I was being assessed but that’s to be expected, why? Because everyone has different needs and working in that type of field, dealing with troubled kids, can be a difficult job. Here are my pros and cons.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS REVIEW WAS FROM ROUGHLY 8 YEARS AGO.
Cons:
1) I remembered a staff trimming her nails in the cafeteria while we were having breakfast and to me. It seems like some staff back in the day, worked there just for the convenience.
2) I was treated poorly by other patients in my group because they assumed false things about me.
3) The way they disciplined misbehaved kids was a bit cruel. After they restrained them, they would put them in a concrete room with pads full of (maybe memory foam). Each kid was told to sit on the pad (in the middle of the room) and calm down. There was a security camera in that room for safety, while there was a staff standing outside the room. There was a window high enough for the staff to peek into the room. I personally was in that room a few times and it felt horrible. The only positive thing that came out of that room was being on the other side, being with the group and feeling safe that the misbehaved kid wasn’t with our group for X amount of time.
PRO:
1) I learned what essential oils were and how useful they are to help calm the mind. I remembered a nighttime staff going out of her way to find a specific essential oil for me that was in a different part of the building, so that I can smell it throughout the night and relax during a tough time.
2) I remembered friendly compititions, popsicle stick catapults, street hockey and other friendly compititions where the winner gets one free meal from subway
3) I learned that photography is a great coping skills as well as essential oils.
4) despite having some issues with some other patients, I got a long with other patients.
5) We went to the Burch Barn to do the corn maze
6) we also went to the ecomart to grab some marshmallow fluff
7) despite feeling like some staff are working there for the convenience, I feel like the majority of the staff there are working to help misbehave kids.
8) Staff are very observant and responsive towards misbehaved kids and things that might develop.
Q) Why are you posting this review now and not years ago
A) I am posting this review now because I feel like I have reached my peak at changing. I will admit, it has taken years to change my behavior and learn how to live my life with my new behavior. I am in college for photography and this year is my first year as a freelance photographer. I have reached so many milestones this year, I feel like I have changed who I was and became a better person, with help from Northwest Passage.
I recommend this place to families with stuggling kids because even though I have had some negative experience at this place, I genuinely feel like they want to help those kids develop helpful skills as well as helping families too. Grant S 10 months ago Northwest Passages- For 30 day+ testing only. As a parent this was a hard choice. I'd do it again though.
My child went here for testing & we had a positive experience. The communication I had with the Case Manager made all the difference in the world! I was kept in the loop on daily activities & how my child was doing.
I really appreciated the staff & the respect they showed for both my child and myself. Dominique B 4 years ago | |

This place is great. I was very scared to attend but after a week or so, felt at home. The staff is amazing. I just wish we had more time with staff. There is a good amount of peer-led activity and that can be hit or miss. But the sessions with staff were always great.
Food is above average for a place like this and the medical staff is top notch.
I would recommend anybody needing treatment to go to Center City.
For those crying and saying there was no change in their loved-ones... those folks must have not been attending sessions or doing the work provided. 👩🏽🎓🙏🏽🙌🏽💛🧡💚💙💜 Boyce Bible 9 months ago Wow! What a journey. Please take this seriously for those in addition or wanting to recover! I went here during covid season 2020 when I got my DUI. I was regretting it, didn't take it seriously, etc. I did my month time stay there. Went home continued with addiction cause I still didn't care. After mother's day weekend on 05.09.22 was my first day of sobriety. I'm still sober to this day. Let me tell you what, I've had the most fantastic experiences and time of my life sober! Looking back, wish I'd took things seriously. I even got off probation this year in June. I wasn't supposed to get off until November next year 2024. I mean God's work is honestly a blessing and you definitely feel him working thru you. I remember starting out here at this place, they said "higher power" and I'm like naw, I don't got that. Not even my kids. Oh yeah, God is my highest power! This place is amazing! Trust me! Great staff, food, location, etc! Just please get help! It's not worth your life ending on bad terms! I will never go back to that life style. Sobriety is just the coolest 😎 Lord the energy you have, stability, motivation, passion to keep striving and going in life! Yes!! No more laziness! It's just nice! Thank to this place and the DUI was a huge lesson I needed to kick my rear end into gear! Let's keep going! SOBRIETY ROCKS! From every single RA to the kitchen staff, and everyone else that works there. My counselor was Jon, he was funny, blunt, caring and very smart. Im grateful to have met him. Cheryl and Kelly may seem like tough cookies, but they are god sent human beings that want nothing but the best for each and everyone of you. I see the hate in the comments..... They’re are meant for their jobs. I’ve learned so much while I was there. I valued the daily book we filled out on our own, fully engaging and eye opening. I was lucky to have Pete as my counselor. His approach was thorough and helpful. My only complaint is that it was crowded there and access to phones, bathrooms, and laundry was a bit tricky but maybe that will change at some point. Thank you Burkwood! Erin Klisch 1 month ago My time at Burkwood was amazing, to say the least. The staff were great and it truly is up to you if you want this place to help you! Take what you can from it and be grateful. Reading some of these horrible reviews is crazy to me! It’s not a vacation - for a treatment center it’s pretty damn nice! The classes do get a little monotonous, but for the most part were engaging and helpful. My counselor Derek was the absolute best and the RAs Diane, William, Kristin, Aidan and Ashley were genuine and helpful. They are heavily rooted in AA which I thought I would hate at first, but if you’re just open-minded and listen to what speaks to you it’s not too shabby. They helped me set up IOP and sober living after and I’m enjoying the beginning of my sober life thus far. Thank you Burkwood ❤️ Madeline Nicko 2 months ago | 6 6 | |

Let me explain;
THE BEST:
Emily Schwab and the other Certified Peer Recovery Specialists dive in, driven by empathy and altruism. Getting everything a person needs in early recovery taken care of for you and lining up everything for our near future.
The Good:
The counselors care and are very attentive to our needs and help build a treatment plan worthy of a valiant attempt from our end.
The Bad:
Chad Walker. The treatment director. He is arrogant and selfish. He knows best, just ask him and he will tell you. He is very brash to people in vulnerable states and seems to have taken it upon himself to make his own rules and designs outside the scope of what EOSIS is trying to do for recovery.
Get a new director and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Wisconsin is ranked 19th nationwide in terms of addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $56,625.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Wisconsin vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of the treatment types listed above. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
