Lutz, Florida is home to the Morton Plant North Bay Recovery Center. This is a recovery center located inside the North Bay Hospital, a medical facility that sits in the northern outskirts of Tampa. If you are struggling with your mental health, are in need of crisis support, or require detox services and other immediate support for a substance use
I've been baker acted multiple times (as a minor, now an adult) and this is the best facility. As long as you work with staff, they'll do their best to get you in and out. I like that they do bloodwork in this location, and Monday through Friday are pretty scheduled (we don't talk about Saturday Sunday). They have a gym as well, which is great for getting engery out and feel lighter while at such a facility. I believe Ash and Stephanie were the best I'd interacted while there. Stephanie is a nurse who told me her honest opinion about my case and helped me process some final emotions, and Ash is a floor tech who was a Saint in getting answers for me, relaying messages, explaining why or why not things– and helpful for minor tasks like changing the TV or getting a snack. He genuinely seemed like such a nice guy, and it makes me glad someone like him is there for those who need someone to rely on while admitted. Overall, this facility is where I would choose again and again, whether for me or for others. They get you the help you need, make sure you're doing okay, and ensure you're stabilized before you leave. I'm thankful for those who helped me and I know they'll continue to help others as they need too.

I was recently a patient at this facility, and despite the difficult circumstances, I left feeling genuinely cared for by some truly exceptional staff members. Bobbie (nurse) stood out the most. She brought warmth and humanity to what could have been a cold, frightening experience. She talked with us, listened, and even taught me practical tools for redirecting attention away from trauma. Her kindness made a real difference. Kelly (nurse) also deserves recognition. When other staff declined to explain medications in detail, Kelly took the time to answer all my questions patiently and thoroughly. I also witnessed her gently helping another patient untangle and fix her hair when that patient didn’t have the energy to do it herself. That small act of compassion said everything about who she is. Thank you Bobbie and Kelly for reminding patients that they are seen and valued. You made a hard time a little easier.

I think i wrote my review under the wrong hospital but everyone was awesome for the most part. My name is Cameron Atwood and im still taking my medicine by some miracle. I went into this facility so psychotic i didnt know up from down. I had real people help me see the real lies i was telling myself. I thought everybody was the enemy and somehow people like Stephanie (The Goat) and even those who didnt believe what i believed like Peter broke through to me. The chapman there are amazing and i cant complement the Techs more doing gods work. I was nursed back to a stable point not from medicine but from the grace and compassion of the nurses and most of the techs! People like ASH, Sydney, Shy, and Patrick made me feel safe and comfortable in a foreign place. I cannot thank this facility enough and pray everyone gets the grace and compassion they showed me back in 10 fold. I can literally type for hours about how they helped me but my fingers might get tired. Oh and Richard and Gavin got me to trust medicine which im still having a hard time with but without this entire team i believe id still be unstable to this day. Again just to mention Nurse Stephanie is probably the nicest person I've ever met and the first person i fully trusted in Lutz. What I'm trying to say is the People working nursed me back to health not any medicine even though i will admit the drugs helped. Thank you guys for your kindness

Dr. Renee Michaels. I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank you. Going into therapy, I honestly didn’t know what to expect, and I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would be opening up about some of the things I was going through. Dr. Renee made that process easier. She is down-to-earth, honest, compassionate, and never made me feel judged. Her ability to be straightforward while still making you feel comfortable is something I truly appreciate. Even the jokes and little comments during class helped make a difficult process feel a little easier. This experience has taught me that asking for help is not a weakness. Sometimes you have to swallow your ego, take that first step, and allow people to help you become a better version of yourself. Dr. Renee, thank you for listening, for being real with us, and for genuinely caring about the people you work with. You have had a bigger impact on me than you probably realize, and I am truly grateful that I had the opportunity to be in your class. Please continue doing what you do. You are helping people change their lives, one person at a time.

Hannah house is very unique.. there's some good guys on top that run this place, but the specialness comes from the brotherhood of the people in the house. Barry allowed me to come in this past June and I can't even express with words or written words how much it's done for my life. Let's start with this. It's a beautiful home and I do mean a home not just a place where other recovering addicts sleep. This house is all about the brotherhood. Do your chores go to your meetings? Pay your rent. Be respectful to your roommates. Be a part of our community. Don't just sleep there. Get to know your brother to find out what he's going through. Allow them to know what you're going through. That's recovery right there... I moved out today. I'm a little bit sad about it, but even more so I'm excited. But because of the time that I've spent there, I have an opportunity to go back out into the world. I dare say a new man!! Thank you Tom. Thank you Barry. Thank you Maurice. Thank you Rod. Thank you Bryan. Thank you Paul. Thank you big Will. Thank you Zac! I love all you guys...

White Sands saved my life in February and continues to do so to this day. If you are looking for help and are finally willing to reach out, there is no better option than White Sands. The staff at White Sands, many of whom are serving others as a way to they themselves stay clean, are absolutely amazing. Their desire is to pick you up, dust you off, and watch you grow. From the moment you arrive at inpatient they do their best to get you in and comfortable. Each day gets easier and there is not one person who couldn't benefit from their MRT program. In outpatient the IOP program and individual counseling teaches and strengthens you by offering a different way to live. The counselors truly care and want to see you succeed. It isn't easy to ask for help and it isn't a sign of weakness. If you're willing to admit you need help, White Sands is the place to turn to.

When I first walked through the doors of Sophros, I was at one of the lowest points in my life. That rock bottom everyone talks about. I had been to my fair share of rehabs and treatment programs and somehow could not seem to get sobriety to stick. I was hopeless, alone, and scared. But this place changed that, and set my life on a new trajectory I didn’t think was possible. This place is truly one of a kind. I hit the jackpot when I was assigned Shannon as my therapist. You’ll see her mentioned a lot in these reviews, and for very good reason. To bluntly put it, she saved my life. And I’m not being dramatic when I say that. Her wit, compassion, and dedication is one of the main reasons I’ve made it this far. She taught me to not complicate the uncomplicated, to stop trying to outsmart my disease, and get out of my own way. Simple truths, that seemed impossible to grasp. The entire team at Sophros is made up of some of the most caring humans I’ve been blessed to encounter. They didn’t give up on me, especially when I felt like giving up on myself. Shannon, Veronica, Rajon, Laura, Luna, Drew, and everyone else, make this a truly wonderful healing place. I’ve been through PHP, IOP, and hope to continue on with OP when that time comes. Thank you Sophros, for giving me the tools to get my life back. I will forever be indebted to you. “Never fear the shadows. They simply mean there is a light shining somewhere near by.” That light, is Sophros.

Outstanding program! Everyone is very welcoming and supportive. I was fortunate enough to stay in the new housing for the duration of PHP. It’s a good balance of freedom and accountability. As compared to being locked down like other PHPs I had considered. Sophros provided a number of different approaches in sessions to help keep everyone engaged. And my therapist Shannon was top notch. Definitely would recommend.

I have gone to many, many treatment centers in an attempt to adress my alcoholism. Countless. The staff at Sophros is unlike anything Iv'e encountered. They are not just a business, and we are.not just numbers. The individualized attention and care for our wellbeing is by far unmatched. I have the pleasure of having Shannon as my therapist, connecting dots and helping me see things that no other therapist has been able to do. Rayshawn, the senior therapist provides ART, a therapy I knew nothing about but honestly has changed my life in a big way. Tim, in charge of housing here, goes above and beyond for us everyday helping us set.ourselves up for success. Even the techs are amazing, Cam, Jaime and Tyler are always there to help. Top notch doesn't do it justice. I only wish I found them sooner.

As someone who works in the behavioral health field, I feel obligated to be honest: my experience at this treatment center was negative and, at times, felt emotionally unsafe. I did not feel supported in therapy. Instead, I often felt judged and singled out. Being labeled as “attention seeking” in a clinical setting was not only dismissive, but damaging—especially in a place where people are supposed to feel safe enough to be vulnerable. The overall environment felt unprofessional. There was a lack of respect and, at times, a noticeable tension that made it difficult to trust the staff or the process. Rather than feeling like I was in a space focused on healing, I often felt uncomfortable and on guard. In my opinion, this is not the standard of care people should expect from a residential treatment center. When someone is seeking help, they deserve professionalism, compassion, and a sense of safety—none of which I consistently experienced here. I would not return, and based on my experience, I would not recommend this facility—especially for women who are early in recovery and need a genuinely supportive environment. The BHT’s, chef Lesa, and supervisor were amazing. This review is more towards clinical and admin staff and their unprofessionalism.

I spent some time at this facility, and ultimately I had to leave due to a situation that I’d rather not get into. I’m choosing to let that part go and focus on what I feel is important to share. What I will say is that there were techs on the floor who truly showed up every day with consistency and heart. There’s one in particular I’m thinking of — I can’t recall his name, it wasn’t the easiest to pronounce — but he carried himself with a level of presence and care that didn’t go unnoticed. The kind of energy you hope to find in a place where people are trying to heal. At the same time, there was an undercurrent that didn’t sit right with me. I experienced what felt like retaliation and a strong sense of control in the dynamics behind the scenes. As someone seeking peace and clarity, that kind of energy can be unsettling. I also noticed a lot of internal tension being spoken about openly around clients. In my view, people in treatment shouldn’t be exposed to staff conflicts or internal issues. That space should feel grounded, safe, and focused on recovery — not influenced by things happening behind the curtain. It’s also worth mentioning that for a place that presents itself in a more holistic light, there seemed to be a strong reliance on medication. That may work for some, but it didn’t align with what I personally expected walking in. I share this not out of anger, but from a place of reflection. I hope the environment continues to grow in a way that truly supports the people who walk through those doors looking for something better.

I'm just curious does this work well for opiates like methadone because I am reading about people who were on buprenorphine but methadone has a very long and unpredictable half life and have you had successful patients who were on high doses of methadone and still not have ridiculous cravings post procedure?
Brandon Shrader
I used the ANR Clinic to get off of Opiates that I had been taking for close to 10 years due to a back injury which led to 3 back surgeries. I was really skeptical about the procedure and believing that I would have no cravings afterwards, I did a lot of research and found someone on Facebook that had gone through the procedure and they reaffirmed everything that the ANR Clinic stated. From the first phone call to my intake at the Hospital as well as my aftercare I was treated with care and compassion by each and every member of the ANR Clinic. I had my procedure done on March 24th 2026 and it was the best decision I have ever made, I have never experienced any cravings and each and every day I am feeling one step closer to the man I was before ever taking opiates. I cannot recommend the ANR Clinic enough, if you are struggling like I was take the first step and call them, they will help and guide you every step of the way.

I recently completed 30 days of residential treatment at Riverside Recovery and am now continuing my recovery through their PHP program in New Port Richey. Going into treatment, I was admittedly hesitant. With my background in psychology, coaching, yoga teacher training, and personal experience with mental health and recovery, part of me believed I should be able to figure this out on my own. I wondered what treatment could offer me that I hadn’t already learned. Riverside quickly challenged that assumption. From the moment I arrived, I was put at ease by how genuinely pleasant and compassionate the staff were. The facility itself also helped tremendously. Rather than feeling institutional or clinical, Riverside has much more of a hotel-like atmosphere. When you’re already feeling vulnerable and uncertain about treatment, being in an environment that feels comfortable, peaceful, and human makes a real difference. The program is very AA-centered and spiritually focused. While I came in with some reservations about that approach, the emphasis on spirituality, accountability, community, and surrender gave me space to approach recovery from a perspective beyond simply understanding my behavior intellectually. For someone like me, that distinction mattered. I didn’t necessarily need more information… I needed to practice what I already knew with other likeminded/similarly experienced persons in a structured environment. My therapist, Bre, made a particularly significant impact on me. She is wonderfully no-nonsense and tells you what you need to hear, but always with genuine care. I pushed back more than once, and she didn’t let me intellectualize, rationalize, or talk my way around the work. She challenged me when I needed it, and I respect her tremendously for that. I also want to recognize Lane (BHT) and Shannon, the Client Relations Manager. Both are in recovery themselves, and there was something deeply meaningful about being supported by people who are on the other side of active addiction and alcoholism. Their presence carried a quiet symbolism of hope… a reminder that recovery is lived and possible. Maryann, one of the hospitality aides, also deserves special mention. She always seemed to have a smile on her face and treated me with consistent kindness and warmth. We joked around often, and those small moments meant more than she probably realized. In a setting where it’s easy to feel defined by your circumstances, she helped me feel human again… not a diagnosis, not a patient, and not a problem to be fixed. I’m now one week into PHP, and I’m enjoying getting to know Brent, Sara, and Anthony. The structure is helping me rebuild the basics of daily living and responsibility, and I can already feel how these building blocks are preparing me to move forward more productively after treatment. Ultimately, Riverside gave me something I didn’t realize I needed, an opportunity to stop trying to do everything myself and allow myself to be supported. Recovery isn’t something that can be completed in 30 days, but Riverside gave me a foundation, challenged my assumptions, and helped me reconnect with parts of myself that had gotten buried. I’m grateful for my new sober community and the people who showed for me during those 30 days and grateful to continue the work through PHP. If you’re considering Riverside, my advice is to arrive with an open mind… even if you’re convinced you already know what you need. Sometimes the most important part of recovery is realizing that knowing isn’t the same thing as doing, and that accepting help isn’t a weakness. For me, it was the beginning of learning the difference.

Board Prep has definitely given me a second chance at the rest of my life again! They helped me to regain my identity and sense of self that I had lost somewhere along my journey. I am able to brave the bright exciting adventure of sobriety with the necessary tools and support that I was missing before! Can't say thank you enough to everyone there, but especially my counselor Will and the kindest doctor I've ever met, Dr. Robben!

I walked in asking for information, and I cannot say enough good things about the Gunn Highway location. Shavone was super helpful and Melanie took the time to speak with me. They both gave me great insights and explained the whole process in detail. I do not know if I am personally ready for treatment, but when I am I will come here.

Honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I learned so much in just 30 days there. My case worker Sammy n my therapist Joel went way out of their way to get me the help I needed. If you apply yourself there you can really retain a lot. There's a bunch of amazing counselors that run groups that you can get a lot out of. An also a great amount of extra circular activities. If you're looking for a place to start your recovery in Southwest Florida. This is the place.

Their behavioral healthcare center offers comprehensive drug rehab services in its outpatient treatment program to help patients make better, healthier, informed decisions and choices about their lives
This place has helped me in ways I will forever be thankful for. Anytime I call the women at the front desk answer promptly and are incredibly helpful. They are just as nice and helpful in person as well. The security guard always has a smile on his face and definitely brings a strong sense of safety in the building. Latiere Wallace is a smart caring kind woman who listens and offers multiple possible solutions. She never tries to rush me out of her office and she always makes me feel valid and understood. I really appreciate her and everyone else here. Schena in the pharmacy is another incredibly kind woman who gives courtesy calls when I am due for a refill on my prescription. Very low cost professional mental help. You get what you give of this place and as long as you are respectful to the staff they are the kindest most compassionate group of people. Sometimes the lobby can be a bit rowdy but it’s important to keep in mind everyone is either there for help or there to help. Thank you Baycare.

New Seasons Treatment Center truly saved my life. Entering the MAT program was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it turned out to be the most life-changing. From day one, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect—not judged or labeled. The staff genuinely care. They take the time to listen, educate, and support you through every step of recovery. The structure, accountability, and consistency of the MAT program gave me stability when my life felt completely unmanageable. For the first time, I felt hopeful and capable of rebuilding my life. Because of New Seasons, I’m not just surviving—I’m living. I’ve regained my health, my clarity, and my sense of purpose. I am forever grateful to the entire team for believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. If you’re struggling and feel like there’s no way out, please know that recovery is possible, and New Seasons can help save your life too. #fiveyearssober
