I had little to no relationship with peers or my family. My life had no purpose. I was convinced that nothing would be able to help me and my behavior was just who I was. I completed treatment and things started to get better. One day at a time, almost six and a half years later, my life is worth living. I own a business, am engaged, have a fantastic relationship with peers and family, am active in my recovery, and am truly happy. I cannot thank the staff and this program enough for the tools I have gained from here. I will forever recommend The Insight Program to any young people and parents in a similar situation as I was. I got to ADC and was mentally broken and a mess physically. The medical team was amazing, especially Katrina. In my opinion everyone of the BHT’s were great, they don’t get enough credit. Chris was fabulous and met any need I had ( even let me do my fantasy football draft 🤷🏼‍♂️ ). Everyone from the cooks to the cleaning ladies were great. But the main person who’s the star of that building is OG. Never met someone so wise and so willing to help people is his own way. I never met someone who had all the answers to anything, and I don’t say that sarcastically. He helped me leave ADC a better person and with all the tools to tackle recovery. Shelter has a computer lab, small gym and basketball court. 7 pm curfew. Lights on at 5:45 am with early morning wake up call. Lot of personalities to navigate but that is to be expected at a shelter. I am also a gay man. Grateful it is not coed. Better for my mental and spiritual health to have stayed at a place devoted to helping men. Felt seen and supported by staff. There are a few women on staff. Fyi. I was very skeptical at first because how far it was away from our home and the reviews I read online. The first few days he was there were skeptical also because I couldn't talk to him but every time I called I was updated on his care. When he got better he was allowed to call me. I had a couple people at the front desk that I thought were irritated of me calling but the nurses in his unit were awesome. Ms Laura was maybe one of the Best on Compass South ! She spreads so much spiritual and positive love to everyone and mainly treated me as an Individual and not just a pay check or a patient . The respect she showed my thoughts and feelings and help led me really see it was really nothing wrong with me then some who are worst it really helped me walk out those doors knowing I am a Devine child of God and I definitely am chosen as a special person to be a servant thru the kindness I even showed one of the residents and her name is Nun !!!! She was a loving and said she couldn’t speak much English to some but then finally told me thank you and hug 🥰 me before I left Friday they knew my spirit was genuine and real ! All of this was because Ms Laura showed me so much genuine love and time and spiritual enrichment by her words and games and bibles times lord yess those bible times and I know that that means now .. so yes she taught me a lot and gave me a lot to Stand for more then I new I had in me She was a big encouragement to how I walked out that door and the gift that she gave me I really appreciate it those. They used to have a good community and everyone was cool with each other and you could get help with mental illness. They even had a person make eggs, pancakes, bacon and coffee in the morning that you could pay for and they even provided a lunch too.
