I want people to understand something important about the program. When you complete it and leave, the medications they use as “crutches” (like SSRIs) are not designed to be permanent solutions — but they don’t really prepare you for what happens when you try to come off them.
In my case, when I finished the program, I was left with nothing but “good luck.” No tapering support, no real plan, no follow-up guidance. The withdrawal from SSRI medication was a horrific experience, and I had to seek out a separate doctor on my own afterward just to cope.
People should know going in: the program does provide structure and tools while you’re there, but the aftercare is lacking, especially around medication dependence. Be ready to advocate for yourself and find outside medical support when you leave.

This place literally saved my life, my career, and my family. I was "functioning" in my opinion, but I was really blind to what was happening around me.
My marriage was falling apart, my career was spiraling slowly downwards, my kids had a parent who was always drinking at home, and who might show up to a soccer game or a cheerleading contest drunk and loud and embarrassing.
The truth was that I was dying in front of my kids and my spouse, my job was dying, but I thought I was living.
I too came here under the "6 to 8 week" suggestion, but I knew how it goes. Admissions will usually tell someone that just to get them in. I was not naive in that fashion.
Yes, some reviews say "bait and switch" or "I was told this at the beginning", but what they are not telling you is that everyone gets evaluated when they first get here, and based on cognitive tests, and how messed up you and your life are, patients either leave a little earlier, right on time, or they need a little more time (like me).
I figured that I drank and used drugs for years, and that it would take more than under two months for me to even begin to get better.
I learned new skills, got great therapy and education and care from the staff, and after 3 1/2 months I came back home. I work in television production, and my co-workers and bosses were so supportive and understanding. My family...took a little while before the trust and love came back, but it did eventually, and it feels good because I put in a lot of hard work.
Listen, I know a lot of people come to treatment for the "band aid" to fix whatever problem is slapping them in the face. But if you really, truly want to get well, get sober, and get the kind of help you need, there is no better place than Talbott. You might have to stay a little longer than those other "spin-dry" types of rehabs that just keep recycling patients who keep relapsing, but I swear this place works miracles. I am living proof.

I had an excellent experience at Atlanta Detox Center and truly cannot say enough about the quality of care I received. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported. The staff treated everyone with genuine care and respect, which made a difficult process so much easier to go through.
The classes and group sessions were extremely beneficial in getting newly sober as well.
I want to give a special shout-out to my case manager, Christian. He went above and beyond for me—helping with my FMLA paperwork, answering all of my questions, and always showing patience and understanding throughout the process. Having someone so attentive really made a difference.
I also want to recognize the behavioral health techs. They were consistently kind, caring, and helpful towards all clients, and it showed that they truly care about the people they work with.
Overall, Atlanta Detox Center made a challenging step in my life feel achievable and supported.

This establishment has helped mu loved one who was an alcoholic. Original Mike has helped me as well with his family group classes. He’s helped me understand the addiction and things I can do to contribute to his recovery. Without these groups he would not be able to help all the families he’s helped. This place saved my life. When I got here I couldn't walk I couldn't talk I didn't even know who I was anymore let alone anything else. They pushed me to get better.i was initially so angry I just wanted to go home but they made me live again. I had a podiatrist appointment. I was seen in a very short time. They cut my toenails and the VA doctor was on a tele-med. She gave me two pairs of shoes and some diabetic socks. I have very low expectations and I am not sensitive to bad attitudes. They get 5 stars from me.

I arrived for treat on a Monday, from the moment I walked in, I felt love a support from the staff working the front desk. They were very patient and I was having a very rough day. Once arriving to my unit Light House I met Mr. Emmanuel; at the very least he was wonderful, patient, kind, and compassionate. They offered me food to eat and encouraged me that everything would be okay in spite of everything going on in the outside world. I knew God had sent me to the right place. The food was wonderful, and the rooms were clean. They allow you to go outside and encourage you to interact with the other clients. The therapist that held activities were fun and engaging. The nurses and technicians were very eager to assist with any concerns and they actually listened. I honestly cant say enough about my experience and care there. I had amazing experience at Anchor Hospital "Safe Harbor Unit" all the doctors and staff are amazing... shout out to Lindsey and Kendra the social workers they are amazing and God sent, I love them and this place... yes its hard sending your child away but trusting God is the key and this place is amazing.. Kendra went above and beyond with my sons case and I am so thankful and grateful for everything.. I truly recommend this place if you come to having to make that choice.. Some of the negative reviews here are from people who treat the donation pick up service as their personal, white glove, unwanted furniture disposal service. It is ridiculous to expect the pick up crew to come when you aren't home, and it is unreasonable to expect them to remove their shoes or wear 'booties' so they don't soil your carpets. These movers are not your servants. If you truly wish to perform an act of charity, arrange to be at home ahead of time, and cover your floor with the Atlanta Journal Constitution...its' best possible use.

I was unsure if my family member was a qualified rehabilitation facility ,I had read some bad reviews.It took effort to get her in.It was worth every bit of effort! She went through the detoxing,I couldn't have contact with her.When we talked for the first time I realized my prayers had been answered.She was on the road to recovery.She was so grateful she got in and was feeling better and thinking clearly. My sister's counselor Mr Dre personally called and invited and encouraged me to attend the monthly Family Day and I did. I was blown away by the professional,compassionate care the patients receive.As a family member I received counseling and tools and the information on how to take this journey of recovery with my loved one.Ascensa reassured my loved one and myself there are professional people that really care about you living a life in recovery, redemption for ever! I spent several months completing the program here. I understand it doesn't work for everybody...but I wouldn't be the woman I am today with out MSH. I don't think I'd even be alive if they hadn't given me the chance to change and grow. It was difficult work. But the reward has been having keys to my own place for the first time in years .

This place is amazing! Being on Methadone maintenance has LITERALLY saved my life! I've been on MM since 02/19/2015. My biggest complaint would be the staff turn over. Thru out my years I've had at least a handful of counselors. It is hard at times to completely open up when there's been soo many. My counselor now, Frances, is amazing! Definitely one of my top favorites. There's been a ton of nurses. Some good, some NOT. Reading the other reviews I see alot of people blaming the CLINIC for their shortcomings if YOU do the right thing, if YOU dp the next right thing then u won't have these problems!! What YOU put in to ur treatment is exactly what u get out of YOUR treatment! I can't say enough GOOD things about this place. I'm sure I'll be a "Methadone lifer" and I'm ok with that. It sure beats the alternative!aptly I see alot of people complain about the price. My insurance finally pays for my meds but for years, I paid. $15/day is sure cheaper then buying off the street. A million times CHEAPER.

Counselors are open minded, willing to listen and give advice when asked. What I do like is they don't offer a lot of unsolicited advice. Also the Dr is a really nice guy also willing to listen and treats patients with respect.
