I came to CAPS at the end of my rope, pregnant, & with a warrant for my arrest. I had been on IV heroin for about 10 yrs I think? & had lost everything. I started using in high school. I work, was an honor roll student, had a car, in HIGH SCHOOL, in an upper class suburb, with a police officer/psychologist mother, & fairly comfortable life. At this time, it was thought it couldn't happen to someone like me; but IT DID. I left home, barely made it to graduation unshowered & strung out, had lost my job, my family, & any of the values/morals I was raised with. I eventually moved to the west side where it only got darker. There were MULTIPLE detoxes, outpatient programs, rehabs, jail, homelessness, rape, kidnapping, sleeping in shelters & snowy parks; this did NOTHING to detur me. I was lost, & was absolutely going to kill myself. I was out on bond from jail, disappeared on probation & treatment, had warrants, the U.S. Marshall's looking for me, & then, I found out I was pregnant! My usual detox facility (😳 who says that?!) told me that since I was pregnant I was a liability, & methadone was my only option. My mother, who was 100% against "swapping one addiction for another" took the medical advice of the doctors/detox facility, & drove me to CAPS the morning after we learned I was pregnant. Pregnant, scared, broken, & wanted by the police, I stumbled into CAPS. I was not judged, but instead understood & comforted. I was treated as human opposed to the scum I knew I was. I ended up getting picked up on that warrant a month later, & spent 3 months pregnant in jail. The jail drove me daily to the clinic, & CAP made arrangements to dose me EVERY SINGLE DAY for the safety of my unborn child. By the grace of God, my judge even gave me 1 last shot to get myself together for my unborn child. That was 14 YEARS ago now, & I'm so blessed to say I have remained sober with the help of CAPS, my counselor George (who retired after like 30-40 years), the nurses, the old administrator Teri, & ALL the staff at CAPS! Why CAP & not another clinic? Glad you asked 😆 Not sure if its changed, but other clinics refused to dose higher than 80mg which IMO was not be enough (for me) but especially with the fent/D today. Other clinics charge the same if not more, are in ghetto towns where u can get your drug 🤦‍♀️, & they don't council you just dose (so you'll probably relapse). There's a reason people drive HOURS to get to CAP; the other clinics aren't as good. If you can't make it to CAP, go to ANY clinic!!! But if you can, CAP is best! I read other reviews, some may look at that 14 years & say I'm just addicted to something else, & you know what, maybe 🤷‍♀️ But FOR ME (& a lot of other addicts) I had been using for SOOO many years with no relief in sight, I had gone to many facilities & had relapsed immediately EVERY. SINGLE TIME. I was hanging out & living in crack houses in the west side, getting infections, not showering, & many other things I'd rather not post publicly... If getting a LEGAL prescription, in Downers Grove, keeps me free of needles, diseases, overdose, & losing my child is the alternative, WHO CARES?!? More importantly, that says absolutely nothing about CAP, but more about the nature of addiction. Its a viscous cycle, but methadone, & more specifically the staff at CAP, have given me MY LIFE BACK!!! I am no longer just existing, I'm thriving, thanks to CAP of Downers Grove!!! Let me vent on another review. WHEN IN RECOVERY, NOBODY IS GOING TO FIGHT HARDER THAN YOU! If YOU want it, YOU gadda show it, THEN CAP staff & methadone will do everything to help. CAP DOOOES take Medicaid (just not the crap ones that never pay out). A number. To keep things confidential you are literally a #, but you ARE NOT treated as a number! People get chances IF THEY ARE HONEST, & DON'T CAUSE WAVES. He was Deep in addiction when he got here and I was fearful because of the reviews and because his addiction was just so bad I didn’t know if anything was going to help. Before footprints, I was planning to bury my loved one. He is now healthy, clean and sober and has a career. I can never thanks footprints to recovery enough. All the staff was very kind to me when I went to visit and drop stuff off for him. The only reason we’re missing a star is because my loved one had some issues with a staff member named Quan(?) who was being weird to patients. Other than that, amazing experience for my loved one. In ( the main eye clinc) Dr.Dessler was very thorough ask and educating me on the 4 treatments. Both eye clinics were very transparent. And that is something to be stated. I highly recommend the eye clinics here. 11Nov2025 Downgraded to 1 star Review After " Alexis " (Women Clinic) left a voicemail attempting to get me into an appointment. Alexis left me on hold for 10 minutes. Then lied about an open December appointment. Utilizing words like we only have one doctor that can see people "like you". She then stated that they only have openings for late February. I have never asked for services as a female or Transgender. I'm a guy, period. There is no reason for gender stereotyping because I choose to dress or look a certain way. As such the TSP CPT Dr.Jefferies chose to act with violence during one of our sessions. This is very vindictive behavior. Truly felt like everyone cared about me, and I can honestly say I trusted everyone in there. Trust is very hard for me, but the adult program and the staff allowed me to be myself with no judgement. The supervisor is amazing; the head of the counselors who leads the group therapy is one of the best people I ever met. From day one, the staff treated me with respect, patience, and genuine care. They didn’t just see me as another participant they took the time to understand my situation and helped guide me toward making better decisions for my future. The program provided structure, accountability, and real support when I needed it most. What stood out the most was how invested everyone was in my growth. Whether it was counseling, job readiness, or just having someone to talk to, the resources they offered made a real difference in my life. Even after completing the program, the lessons and discipline I gained have stayed with me and continue to help me move in the right direction. Two years later, I’m in a much better place mentally, emotionally, and professionally and I truly credit a big part of that to the South Suburban Council. Lots and lots of groups, very well structured, the rules are really easy to understand and follow, and the staff genuinely cares about how you're feeling during your stay as well. You get to see your psychiatrist once a week to make sure your medication is helping, and the psychiatrists they have on staff are wonderful, as well as your therapist and if you're in the substance abuse program, they're kind too, from what I've heard. I was assigned Pam as my primary counselor, and I cannot thank this woman enough for all she has done for me. The topics we touched on were so personal and delicate and she was constantly present and engaged for all of it. Her insight, really her intuition, was so genuine and accurate during our sessions it amazed me. The staff are mostly friendly and it's easy to get into the clinic within a day or two. Once you get to the correct methadone dose the dope sickness is mostly gone and then you can slowly get back to a normal life. I've had a few counselors since going here and all were nice and professional but my current one Gary is Awesome. He seems to really care and is always helpful. Clean, low cost, good counselors! I came to CAPS at the end of my rope, pregnant, & with a warrant for my arrest. I had been on IV heroin for about 10 yrs I think? & had lost everything. I started using in high school. I work, was an honor roll student, had a car, in HIGH SCHOOL, in an upper class suburb, with a police officer/psychologist mother, & fairly comfortable life. At this time, it was thought it couldn't happen to someone like me; but IT DID. I left home, barely made it to graduation unshowered & strung out, had lost my job, my family, & any of the values/morals I was raised with. I eventually moved to the west side where it only got darker. There were MULTIPLE detoxes, outpatient programs, rehabs, jail, homelessness, rape, kidnapping, sleeping in shelters & snowy parks; this did NOTHING to detur me. I was lost, & was absolutely going to kill myself. I was out on bond from jail, disappeared on probation & treatment, had warrants, the U.S. Marshall's looking for me, & then, I found out I was pregnant! My usual detox facility (😳 who says that?!) told me that since I was pregnant I was a liability, & methadone was my only option. My mother, who was 100% against "swapping one addiction for another" took the medical advice of the doctors/detox facility, & drove me to CAPS the morning after we learned I was pregnant. Pregnant, scared, broken, & wanted by the police, I stumbled into CAPS. I was not judged, but instead understood & comforted. I was treated as human opposed to the scum I knew I was. I ended up getting picked up on that warrant a month later, & spent 3 months pregnant in jail. The jail drove me daily to the clinic, & CAP made arrangements to dose me EVERY SINGLE DAY for the safety of my unborn child. By the grace of God, my judge even gave me 1 last shot to get myself together for my unborn child. That was 14 YEARS ago now, & I'm so blessed to say I have remained sober with the help of CAPS, my counselor George (who retired after like 30-40 years), the nurses, the old administrator Teri, & ALL the staff at CAPS! Why CAP & not another clinic? Glad you asked 😆 Not sure if its changed, but other clinics refused to dose higher than 80mg which IMO was not be enough (for me) but especially with the fent/D today. Other clinics charge the same if not more, are in ghetto towns where u can get your drug 🤦‍♀️, & they don't council you just dose (so you'll probably relapse). There's a reason people drive HOURS to get to CAP; the other clinics aren't as good. If you can't make it to CAP, go to ANY clinic!!! But if you can, CAP is best! I read other reviews, some may look at that 14 years & say I'm just addicted to something else, & you know what, maybe 🤷‍♀️ But FOR ME (& a lot of other addicts) I had been using for SOOO many years with no relief in sight, I had gone to many facilities & had relapsed immediately EVERY. SINGLE TIME. I was hanging out & living in crack houses in the west side, getting infections, not showering, & many other things I'd rather not post publicly... If getting a LEGAL prescription, in Downers Grove, keeps me free of needles, diseases, overdose, & losing my child is the alternative, WHO CARES?!? More importantly, that says absolutely nothing about CAP, but more about the nature of addiction. Its a viscous cycle, but methadone, & more specifically the staff at CAP, have given me MY LIFE BACK!!! I am no longer just existing, I'm thriving, thanks to CAP of Downers Grove!!! Let me vent on another review. WHEN IN RECOVERY, NOBODY IS GOING TO FIGHT HARDER THAN YOU! If YOU want it, YOU gadda show it, THEN CAP staff & methadone will do everything to help. CAP DOOOES take Medicaid (just not the crap ones that never pay out). A number. To keep things confidential you are literally a #, but you ARE NOT treated as a number! People get chances IF THEY ARE HONEST, & DON'T CAUSE WAVES. My boyfriend/baby daddy/hubby/whatever & I have been here for 14+ years, have not had 1 issue, & I have had the staff go to bat for me with court, my disability claim, etc. Stop whining if you aren't all in 💯

This place saved my loved ones life. Seriously. He was Deep in addiction when he got here and I was fearful because of the reviews and because his addiction was just so bad I didn’t know if anything was going to help. Before footprints, I was planning to bury my loved one. He is now healthy, clean and sober and has a career. I can never thanks footprints to recovery enough. All the staff was very kind to me when I went to visit and drop stuff off for him. The only reason we’re missing a star is because my loved one had some issues with a staff member named Quan(?) who was being weird to patients. Other than that, amazing experience for my loved one. Thank you guys for saving his life and brightening up mine.

I began IOP and individual counseling at Rosecrance in February 2026, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most positive and impactful decisions I’ve made. My counselor Dominique is truly exceptional — she embodies everything you hope to find in a counselor. From my very first session, Dominique made me feel genuinely heard and understood. She listens with real empathy, never makes you feel judged, and creates a space where it’s safe to be completely honest. That kind of environment is rare and so incredibly valuable, especially when you’re navigating something difficult in your personal life. What sets Dominique apart is her combination of warmth and professionalism. She doesn’t just listen — she provides thoughtful guidance and practical tools that I’ve been able to carry with me outside of our sessions. Her knowledge and approach have helped me build real coping skills that have made a meaningful difference in my day-to-day life. Rosecrance as an organization has also impressed me with the quality of care and the caliber of their staff. Dominique will absolutely keep you on your toes, but if you want it bad enough, anything is possible — just put the work in and you will have true companionship throughout the entire experience. Suncloud has been a life saver. The staff was and is always welcoming and caring. One of the things that has been the most helpful for me has been the aftercare, follow ups and continued connection I get with them. It has become part of my family now and its a lifestyle. One of the things I lost in my life was a sense of being part of my community and having that desire to isolate from people. I dont feel that way anymore because of Suncloud. I really like the staff here. They're genuinely trying to help you. They have great programs to cope, manage and recognize what you need. I got really lucky because I had a group of strong, collective, beautiful women. The only thing that sucked was it was winter and someone came in with the flu. It was the worse 10 days of my life and my medicine never came... Other than that I'm still sober and working hard at sober living and it's all thanks to this place helping me network out.

While being at RCA I met people who genuinely cared about me getting well. I was a little skeptical at first that what I was experiencing was real, but throughout my stay I found that these people genuinely cared. With their help I learned that the only way that I was going to stay well is by connecting with others who are serious about recovery and by participating in my own recovery. I am sober today because RCA was there for me then and is there for me now via Alumni meetings and events. I want to thank all the staff for their professionalism, genuine care and for just being there when I needed help.

Extremely helpful couple working the mid-counter were able Guide me to the secondary eye clinic, Brenda was super friendly getting me checked into the acute Eye clinic. Additionally while I waited the workers at the coffee lounge we're exceedingly helpful and very cheerful. There was a new female who was very cheerful and was thanking the veterans for there service. In ( the main eye clinc) Dr.Dessler was very thorough ask and educating me on the 4 treatments. Both eye clinics were very transparent. And that is something to be stated. I highly recommend the eye clinics here. 11Nov2025 Downgraded to 1 star Review After " Alexis " (Women Clinic) left a voicemail attempting to get me into an appointment. Alexis left me on hold for 10 minutes. Then lied about an open December appointment. Utilizing words like we only have one doctor that can see people "like you". She then stated that they only have openings for late February. I have never asked for services as a female or Transgender. I'm a guy, period. There is no reason for gender stereotyping because I choose to dress or look a certain way. As such the TSP CPT Dr.Jefferies chose to act with violence during one of our sessions. This is very vindictive behavior. Other than the outstanding lab department & Dr.Riz I do not recommend this location for now. ---------------------- 3Jul2025 (5 Five Review) A great man walked these halls. DR.B will be remembered and mark a standard of care that is yet to be seen at this location. No ceremony for a person who did the right thing always. What a joke how you treat a Doctor who served Veterans for 10 + years. Go to the back where the staff & doctors are sleeping sprawled out on all benches ( like hobos) specifically built gazebos for veterans. Had oral surgery at Hines yesterday. While it still hurts some my experience was positive. Dr. Shahbazian is just fantastic. The procedure was painless and went a lot faster then I thought it would. The people working in the Dental clinic really care and treated me wonderfully. Unfortunately, after the procedure I had gauze in my mouth so I couldn't thank them as much as I wanted to.

This facility is just amazing! Truly felt like everyone cared about me, and I can honestly say I trusted everyone in there. Trust is very hard for me, but the adult program and the staff allowed me to be myself with no judgement. I'm trying so hard to follow the rules and not name any staff but will give a broad review. Right when you walk in the staff is friendly, always smiling which in turn made me smile. The supervisor is amazing; the head of the counselors who leads the group therapy is one of the best people I ever met. The staff that lead the groups cared about me, and it was genuine, and they are so smart and fun. From the psychiatrist to my therapist everyone was on the same page. I just want to say thank you to everyone there from the bottom of my heart!

I had the opportunity to go through the South Suburban Council program about two years ago, and I can confidently say it was a life-changing experience. From day one, the staff treated me with respect, patience, and genuine care. They didn’t just see me as another participant they took the time to understand my situation and helped guide me toward making better decisions for my future. The program provided structure, accountability, and real support when I needed it most. What stood out the most was how invested everyone was in my growth. Whether it was counseling, job readiness, or just having someone to talk to, the resources they offered made a real difference in my life. Even after completing the program, the lessons and discipline I gained have stayed with me and continue to help me move in the right direction. Two years later, I’m in a much better place mentally, emotionally, and professionally and I truly credit a big part of that to the South Suburban Council. If you’re considering this program or have been referred to it, I highly recommend taking it seriously and giving it your all. It can genuinely help change your life if you let it. Five stars all the way.

BEST EXPERIENCE!!! This center was perfect for me because I am not a very social person and the small group sessions were perfect. Also, the small group allowed for me to learn more and get the most from the program. The instructors are very well versed and knowledgeable about addiction. I looked forward to going every day. Our group became very close knit and we do activities together outside of class. If you do not want to be just a seat filler and actually get something out of your recovery journey, this is the place.

When I first came to Care Addiction Center, I’ll be honest, I arrived pretty much kicking, screaming and non compliant. I was in a very dark place, but what I found was an organization filled with people who truly care from my counslers Alice and Tori, to my fellow Group members . From the moment I walked in, everyone was accepting, kind, and understanding. Even when circumstances were working against me, like my insurance trying to force me to go elsewhere despite the clear progress I was making, the staff never gave up on me. Matt, who is genuinely dedicated to helping people heal, reassured me not to worry and even offered me a scholarship to continue. His only concern was that I continued to get better. The compassion and support I experienced at Care made all the difference, and I am deeply grateful. The care addiction center is a Life changing, Life saving orginization.

I choose to take part of the Symetria program voluntarily and it was one of the best decisions of my life! Not only are the staff like family, so are the individuals that pick Symetria too. Now days, customer service is pathetic and people are rude and most push you out the door, but not here. This place has the warm feeling like "The door is always open", and "how can we help you", We are here for you, it doesn't matter the time or the day, we care about you. You're a shining star and a success, not a failure. This place is secure, confidential, clean and has several options to help you along your journey. You are able to volunteer your time, make new friends and can help save a life, change a life and feel proud of who you are. Brian and John from Naperville are excellent group leaders (you are lucky if you get to meet them), and (Chris from Vernon Hills is a great counselor, who will make the time to ensure your needs are met). Symetria creates an environment where people feel safe, supported, and valued. The morning IOP group supported me through the hardest part of my life and I will forever be grateful for the amazing people I met. I think each one of us in the group looked forward to our time together in that healing place. Our counselor Brian is an expert in his field. He led our group through many difficult topics and conversations and did so with enormous compassion. Individual sessions with Brian were always insightful. Brian has a unique way of making each of his clients feel good about themselves. I stayed in Crisis Residential for a month (I got an extended week) and I learned so much and had SUCH a great time, I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're in need of a timeout. Lots and lots of groups, very well structured, the rules are really easy to understand and follow, and the staff genuinely cares about how you're feeling during your stay as well. You get to see your psychiatrist once a week to make sure your medication is helping, and the psychiatrists they have on staff are wonderful, as well as your therapist and if you're in the substance abuse program, they're kind too, from what I've heard. Once again, thank you Ecker, for helping me learn to manage my anxiety and various other symptoms. You've done a great job for a lot of people! 10/5 stars!

PSI saved my life. The people here not only helped me want to live a healthier life, but they also helped me find my voice again. This was my second IOP program and honestly the service and care that I received was on a completely different level. Mike Geraci is one of the best therapists I've ever had the pleasure of working with. PSI and Mike went above and beyond for me and my peers to make sure that we finished the program ready to jump back into our lives. I also spent time and stayed at the sober living apartments through PSI and would highly recommend this choice. The apartment was comfortable and in a great location. PSI was an experience in honesty, structure, and human connection that’s helped me rebuild after years of destructive patterns and self medication. What stays with me most is how powerful it is to be around people who understand what I was dealing with firsthand. The group setting paired with direct medical and emotional support encouraged real change to begin when fear, shame, impulsive behavior, and isolation had taken over. They approach recovery as not just about stopping harmful behavior—it also looks to address anxiety, depression, trauma, distorted thinking, and other underlying mental health struggles through therapy, accountability, education, and consistent support While the focus of the program deals with very heavy topics - the care teams I worked with made me feel heard, comfortable, and safe. As well, they allowed and encouraged me to be my authentic self - helpful, gracious, and kind with the singular purpose of getting me well.

Whether you bring yourself to PSI or you are told you need to go here - no one thinks that rehab is where they will end up and I was no exception. The staff here realize that. My first day walking in the doors and being greeted by Sandy to start the process I felt a sense of welcome, warmth, and understanding. Throughout my time here that feeling never left and was only reenforced by every staff member I interacted with the entire time I was here in treatment. I was assigned Pam as my primary counselor, and I cannot thank this woman enough for all she has done for me. The topics we touched on were so personal and delicate and she was constantly present and engaged for all of it. Her insight, really her intuition, was so genuine and accurate during our sessions it amazed me. If anyone I know is ever struggling with addiction, I would not hesitate to send them here as I know they will get everything they need and more to help them on their journey.

Been going to Family Guidance for awhile now and I absolutely recommend this methadone clinic to anyone struggling with opiate addiction. The staff are mostly friendly and it's easy to get into the clinic within a day or two. Once you get to the correct methadone dose the dope sickness is mostly gone and then you can slowly get back to a normal life. I've had a few counselors since going here and all were nice and professional but my current one Gary is Awesome. He seems to really care and is always helpful. I would most likely be dead if I didn't sign up at Family Guidance. If you're looking for a way to stop using dope give this clinic a try.

They have always been fair with me and very supportive. Ive been a client at similar places and the workers were always a bunch of see you next Tuesday's. Here though, if you're cool, then they're cool in return.
