Are you tired of not being able to do the simplest of things? From not being able to keep a conversation going to not being able to keep up with a schedule; Valley Oaks will make those issues a thing of the past.
I normally don't post reviews because nothing has ever motivated me in doing so. But this I can't keep a secret!
Go here, and get the help you need. Forget the stereotype of "man up", or "get over it", and let's not forget "try harder."
Enough is enough, trust me, I've tried everything in the book to be normal and I've failed each time.
These amazing people here will get you the help you need, and get you one step closer to reaching your goal of being normal.

I was put out of the facility for being hungry
I asked the staff for food and I was told I was manipulating the staff for food even though the staff knew I didn’t have money or food to eat
The police were called and I was put in the street
I have a report to prove that my statement is not fraudulent
It’s sad that addiction is hard and that this facility has no compassion or grace to a client
To say I’m hurt is putting it lightly but I’m not upset just grateful to still be sober and to be able to share this experience because I would never want anyone to be treated this way
I’m praying that the leadership at First City Recovery Center will learn and grow from this event because kindness costs nothing!

Overall the treatment I received was A plus and to be fair I did receive what I needed. There were instances of blatant disrespect and unprofessional conduct by 2 of the staff members both witnessed and experienced myself during my time there this time, but not during class sessions. Not what someone paying for treatment at a facility should be subjected to in my opinion.
In my opinion they are understaffed, overworked, overwhelmed and therefore very busy with the constant influx of clients and turnover of qualified staff, but I do understand it is an industry with high turnover of qualified people. I can’t say I’d return if I required services again if I had other options, which I do.

I came here wanting recovery instead I was not accepted because I was not criminal enough not having felonies, while coming off medication was allowed to be provoked by Ann and other patients. There are good people there but all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch. I put myself in a hospital when I walked out of the facility before the explosion. They would not even respond to a therapist's phone call. I was then placed in a homeless shelter. Way to be faith based and help someone in recovery, luckily I want it for myself and not the courts. That's being part of the problem and enabling instead of helping someone that is traumatized from life's circumstances before they get into trouble instead of helping the already habitual offenders. I had no one to turn to. I'm highly disappointed in what Kokomo has shown me within the recovery community.

This facility offers detox that is | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to this rehab center and its staff. No, it’s not a luxury retreat or a spa-like setting—but neither is prison, or worse, the morgue. This place is about recovery, not comfort, and I believe they are doing exactly what they’re meant to do: helping people get their lives back.
The staff was kind, dedicated, and truly cared. My son's father recently completed treatment here, and while he shared that it was incredibly tough—physically, emotionally, and mentally—he also said it was nothing compared to the pain of being out on the streets, lost in his addiction. Recovery isn’t supposed to be easy. If it were, addiction wouldn’t be so hard to beat.
I’ve seen some reviews criticizing the center for not giving constant updates to family members. I get it—when someone we love is in pain, we want answers, we want involvement, we want to help. But part of the healing process means letting go of that need to control. We didn't have control when our loved ones were in active addiction, and recovery is no different. The program is designed to build independence, accountability, and internal strength. Constant calls, questions, and attempts to interfere, even with good intentions, can undermine that.
Trust the process. Let the professionals do their job. It’s not always comfortable—but neither is addiction. Discomfort is part of growth, and growth is what this place is all about.
If you're looking for somewhere that offers real recovery—not coddling, but healing—this is it. Let them work, and give your loved one the space to fight for their own life.

Parkdale didn’t just help me continue my recovery, they helped me to continue to find myself again. They believed in me, held space for my pain, and gave me the tools and encouragement to continue to rise stronger than I ever thought possible.
From the leadership to the support staff, everyone at Parkdale exudes compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to healing. But what makes Parkdale truly exceptional are people like Rigo and Claudia. They treated me not like a number or a case, but like family. There was zero judgment, only humility, kindness, and an unwavering belief in my potential. Rigo felt like a steady big brother, firm when needed, but always full of heart. Claudia radiates warmth and made me feel safe, seen, and cared for in a way that felt almost sacred. These two, and so many others at Parkdale (like Dr. Chris, Denise, Ty, David) restored my faith in people and reminded me that recovery is possible when you’re surrounded by those who genuinely care.
Parkdale is the best at what they do because they combine clinical excellence with human connection. Their program isn’t just about sobriety, it’s about rebuilding your life with dignity, strength, and purpose. If someone I love ever needed help, Parkdale is the place I would trust.
