First off I have been with SCLHSA for almost 2 decades now. Don't expect to see a doctor or counselor on the first visit or after the first phone call. I see a doctor, Dr Brice who is amazing and reads patient files and a counselor once a month. They can be overbooked and understaffed but do try to accommodate everyone. Yes I do have telehealth visits at the clinic as doctors are spread thin. I have never had any problems except for parking, which is no longer an issue, and people coming in thinking they can get seen right then and there with no consideration of others and yell at the workers who also have to worry about their own mental health.

I was raised here too. And loved it. You know as kids in the system, wanting to live back home and wanting the nom freedoms, we dont know what we had til we moved back home. I wish I had stayed til my 18th birthday now looking back. Love and miss you mr. Augustin. I lived here at the group home from 1985-1995. 2 months before my fifth birthday til 7 months before my 15th birthday. Mr. Augustin is the one that brought me out of my state of catatonic shock the first year he showed up only 3 months in from his starting date. I remember those beautiful memories believe me. And everyday I wish I could go back and see the ppl I grew with both the kids and staff members. It became home without me even noticing. I am 45 yrs old now. No family just my brother, and my stubborn cousin from California. Ive been alone all these years since moving back with my dad. Alone and kinda miserable. I never realized just how ugh the ppl I left behind were gonna matter so much to me when I was leaving. So yeah I wish I could go back and stay till my 18th birthday. And marry Paul Sanchez my childhood sweetheart. Got a job at the south down mall as a sales person as a starting point. Life could've turned out sweeter. If I only knew then what I know now. Well now im in a relationship with my second from cali, and theres a chance I could end up marrying him instead of Paul Sanchez. But either way the both have that way about them with me that I love and adore. Hes got that protective love over me. And hes very sweet on me. So the near future is starting to look much better. Just wanted to leave an update on that. I dont have any of my photos from the group home any photos I had from those yrs of my life were stolen by my dad girlfriend, and her oldest daughter. So I dont even have any memories to show for it. But I do remember some memories. But I wanted to ask what yrs was everyone else there at McDonald's group home?

There isn't enough space to say how I feel about Lake Wellness. I woke up on 9/10/23 and decided to reach out to them via online. I filled out a form and was called within minutes offering help. I honestly could not do it by myself. The staff there is exceptional. The counselors there were exceptional. And the doctor very caring. Everytime I went in I felt like I was walking into home and knew I was safe. Thank you so much Lake Wellness, yall saved my life!!!!!

I have only ever been to one other treatment center. (if you could even call the 1st that) and just by the level of care, commitment, compassion shown, and individual concern shown by each and every one of the members at NOLA DETOX, ALL of whom go above and beyond for every single patient and/or resident that comes into their care. Words alone, just simply cannot describe. If you are just sick of living the way you have been. Or you want to be the person that you know you are capable of being. You owe it to yourself to give yourself the best chance of recovery success you can find and call the people at NOLA DETOX. From the executive director Cedric Royal. The head nurse Ms. Opal. All of the resident nurses, Yoshi, Jovianna, Stephanie, Ariel, Sam, just to name a few. Then there are the techs Jonathan, Danielle, Derrick, Kevin, Ms. Aqua, Cherry, India, Hunter, Adam, Ms. Kendra, and yes, even Patrick.(😁Lol). Jonathan, my counselor has been a godsend in innumerable ways, and is a wonderful person and someone who I call not just a friend. But a brother. And that is a very beautiful thing, indeed...The entirety of it is a one of a kind experience that you receive there that let's you know NOLA DETOX is NOT JUST ANOTHER treatment facility. They are all a FAMILY, and the environment and atmosphere I recommend and suggest highly to anyone looking for treatment to reach out to admissions without hesitation... Residential treatment and their follow-up IOP services are both first class. And they are what I owe my recovery, my health, and my present-day sobriety to. As well as the wellbeing and sobriety of some people whom I love dearly. Including my fiance. and I do not even want to imagine where my life would be right now if I had not have had the courage to take that initial step and actually held my own self accountable for the way my life had become. It was MY actions and MY choices that had led to the unmanageable state of a mess that my life was in. Having tried it my way so many times and each time falling short, I was so close to giving up. And what a shame and waste of life that would have been. Therefore I'm glad I didn't give up. Instead I gave in, gave it to my lord and savior, and gave the caring professionals at NOLA DETOX a call. I had some good times at this place. It’s definitely not one of the most generous, well-stocked, amenity-laden or pedagogical facilities out there but most of the staff are amazing and *really* care about the clients. They allowed me to set up my guitar, amp, PA, etc. in one of their meeting rooms and play/sing songs for them after the morning meetings. They were pretty reasonable letting me work as many hours as I wanted (within reason) even allowing me to stay out past midnight on several occasions. They DID make me stop going to Planet Fitness after work because I got “pulled over” on my bicycle in Metairie and my backpack searched and I had to call them and let them know I was gonna be late which drew attention to it. The “long-term” facility on Tonti St is in a really old, house-like building that used to be some kind of home for “colored” old folks (Google the history if you’re interested—it’s there). It’s actually 5+ buildings taking up nearly half a block where the oldest part is the main building with most of the offices. There’s a mysterious 4th floor that is supposed to be inaccessible to clients used for storage but also a secret hideout.

Odyssey House of New Orleans & Bayou Vista SAVED MY LIFE...MORE THAN ONCE...REHAB is NOT A VACATION..the staff members are NOT our CONNOISSEURS.."like at hotel... Although I would like to add that New Orleans was like being at a 5 star hotel...the building ETC ..but they might be a little understaffed...the TECH's definitely do not have more than 2 hands & 2 feet & should be paid more.Bayou Vista..was like being at a Nice Motel ..but again they really do need more staff members or TECH's ON THE DAY SHIFTS & they should get paid more NO MATTER what their backgrounds are .. especially if they've been there for a while and provide loyalty.... PLEASE let's keep every suffering addict & their families in our PRAYERS & if they don't have a FAMILY..then ODYSSEY HOUSE will treat you like FAMILY... Wonderful staff, they were very special for me, in all the aspects they were very good. I think that I will go to miss them when the program ends. The counselors, managers, doctors, nurses and clinical staff were top notch and cared about every patient individually. Didn't have a problem until I had to bring my 80 year old father in with a clogged catheter after a cancer surgery and the doctor on call literally sat there watching him at a 10 for 4 hours and refused to change it unless he got orders and we ended up leaving with them doing nothing and having to change it ourselves...(I’ve changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. I’m still very upset about one doctor—Dr. Gautma Dixit—who watched my dad reach a 10/10 on the pain scale, then ignored him and walked away. That said, every other doctor and nurse has been professional, compassionate, and kind. On top of that, the team reached out to me to investigate the issue, which genuinely showed they care. That’s why I’m updating my rating.)

On April 10th, I went to St. Charles Hospital to get an angiogram by Dr. Iftakhar( He's a great doctor). When I arrived, Lynette registered me into the hospital then Jodie, Shawn, Ashley and Courtney F. guided me through the procedure. This entire staff was friendly, courteous, and compassionate. Palmetto is the best treatment center in Louisiana by far. Stuart, Jerry, Joseph and Beck have certainly changed my life for the better. I would say that they gave me a life. A second chance! There isn't enough space to say how I feel about Lake Wellness. I woke up on 9/10/23 and decided to reach out to them via online. I filled out a form and was called within minutes offering help. I honestly could not do it by myself. The staff there is exceptional. The counselors there were exceptional. And the doctor very caring. Everytime I went in I felt like I was walking into home and knew I was safe. Thank you so much Lake Wellness, yall saved my life!!!!!
