This post was five years ago and I assure you, things are not the same at JeffCare. There are better systems in place. The staff is friendly and the doctors are caring. When I first became a patient at JeffCare, I didn’t have insurance. Now I do, and I’m still a patient at this facility with no intention or desire to go anywhere else. The care I receive here is better than anywhere else.

This people's action help people's in needs they help me I'm almost 1 year clean they have a lot of resources there

The staff at West Jefferson Behavioral Medicine Center was very on top of what was going on with my loved one, and this was especially true with the nurses and knowing what medicines to give them when and if needed. The rest of the staff knew how to exactly put my family member at ease and teach future coping skills. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know that needs help with their mental health problems.

Provide great patient care with Mental Health

Great program like what get out of group, we get good exercise that helps me stay healthy. I like the driver Mr Allen and and Ms Kim they are both helping me get better.

PLTC is a good program it gives us a chance to leave our homes. We go to a group and talk about life and we get counseling with our peers. The food that they serve is good. I also love that in group we get to celebrate holidays.

I like everything about this place. I have been coming here for six or seven years and I feel like a get very personal treatment. I like coming to see Ms. Kim and coming to group therapy.

Dr West showed up before I needed him… West gets a five Star.

Kim, Dionne, Monique, Michelle, Yvonne and Yasmin go above and beyond. My elder loved one has had issues with being suicidal and violent. The staff handled it with grace and understanding. When my loved one was threatening staff they used gentle redirection and accountability. Doctors try to manage meds as best as possible but it's so hard on a 14day PEC. Only criticism is that MDs couldn't give her more time for med adjustments and stability of mood. I know a lot of people have elder family members who go through mental health challenges but in this area? Have gone through a few with my loved one. Perimeter is okay too, very caring people but the physicians at Perimeter did not do as much as the physicians at Oceans have done! Out of several hospitals and mental health facilities the physicians at Oceans have been the only ones willing to treat her mental challenges by observing and watching. Making changes through medication management and obverving again. Beacon team in Metarie are amazing (ask for Katherine). But AVOID BEACON IN LACOMBE!!! They will put your loved one in an unsafe discharge situation. Avoid social worker Shaun. Oceans? They would never do that. It's not 5 star, but take it from someone who definitely understands family/ patient challenges-- Have faith in Oceans. They will surprise you.

My experience with this facility was only positive. Michelle, Yasmine and the nursing staff kept me updated nearly daily with phone calls or texts. They were genuinely concerned for my family member and worked hard to help them. Very grateful to them.

I was thinking about this place today for some reason. I spent 29 days here in 2015 or late 2014. Anyway I remember it was a very good program. The scenery is beautiful and many long walks around the facility. I was glad we could smoke as well. I remember going to the local Catholic Church nearby. Oh yes and the food was delicious. Females were there as well, but no peeking lol. Overall a good place if you wanna sober up and stay off the destructive path.

I believe I stayed there for a month. Was treated well, attendants were great. Food was good. Attendants treated me well.👍

This place changed my life. It saved my life! If you or a loved one needs help, this is the place to go. The physical structure needs help but the mental health care is wonderful. As I said, it saved my life.

This is my first time doing IOP and I luv it Mike Ramos is the best my family even luvs him good person great attitude he as a way of wanting to do right and stay right and you can tell he is genuine about his job unlike miss star he as a way of teaching addiction were you understand it always keep Mike and his little dog brisket he's a big part of Saint Christopher's

Top tier treatment! I've been to other centers and this one dosen't compare. The staff is amazing and one can tell they really care about you're improvement. Special thanks to my counselor Mike R. who was like a friend through the whole process. Go here if you want to get better!

I volunteerly sought help with medication. Ì was afraid of what would happen while there. After a couple of days, the other ladies reached out to me and every thing changed for the better. I had lost most of my sight and could only hear very little. The staff was extremely helpful and concerned. I did get my meds adjusted. The support staff were great. I only had a few negative interactions with staff. The worst one was in the day room on Sept 13, 2025 when a female staff member ran across the room and to the TV screaming excessively loud. Most of us had very negative reactions and several went out of the room.

It took a while for me to decide to post a remark, but I felt that I had to say something. I was a patient there last June because of something stupid I did because of the pain I was in because of my back. At first I was very upset and unruly. But after being there for a couple of days I did notice a couple of things that are definitely NOT the faculty's fault. The doctors, nurses & medtechs did the best they could with what they had. These people come in to help, because they care. But the one thing I did notice was that the staff was over-worked, under-staffed, under-appreciated & I don't know, but probably underpaid. They relied on donations, when it came down to certain clothes, shoes & I remember how short they were on pillows. After being discharged, my husband & I donated some items for them to use. The thing that gets me angry is after reading some of these reviews, it has become apparent to me how important that the Gov. steps in and do something about the lack of care there is for mental health. I read in a comment that their loved one was dumped like trash and she had dementia. While there myself and one other person tried to help the medtechs, when they needed some. These people are human beings, NOT TRASH and shouldn't be treated like it, due to the facility being so short staffed. You know, it's a shame we don't learn from the Asians on how they care for their loved ones. But like I said my personal experience taught me a lot about facing my inner demons, while trying to help the medtechs. Here's a thought!!! Maybe if you treated your staff the way that they should be treated, then you would not have so many unhappy family members of the patients.

Our developmentally disabled client was admitted last week. I can’t say enough about how awesome this facility has been. At most past facilities our other clients were in we had such a hard time advocating for them. Beacon has been easy to communicate w all the treatment team. We were included and informed regarding his care plan. They were able to make him feel safe. I’ll be requesting this facility if we ever need an admit for our DD consumers. Thank you Beacon!

I have the best counselor ever her name is Ms.Tonya and she is very amazing she tells me what I need to hear instead of what I want to hear.

My counselor really helps me. She takes her time and understands my issues.

Went there for most of my childhood for ADHD and Anxiety treatment. Dr. Colomb is a very good doctor.
