Carlson was the right place at the right time for me to bring a friend of mine who had finally decided to detox and go into an aftercare program, from addiction. The place was well organized, seemed to be run well and plenty of patient supervision, from the point that my friend made it through the complete admission process, she was able to reach out to myself and her sister, and her mother, and then transition to the Hope house in Springfield. I strongly encourage anyone battling with addiction and / or dual diagnosis as well, to call Carlson for bed availability and go through the program. A lot has changed in this field over the past five years, but most notably over the past two years, and there is help and there is hope, if you know somebody who’s struggling out there, they are somebody’s daughter they are somebody’s son. They could also be somebody’s spouse and they could also be somebody’s parent as well, try to do what you can to help them as long as it’s within your cable tow. God bless.

I think the Carlson center was awesome. They medicate you so you are really comfortable. Their food is incredible and you can get seconds too which is helpful when you are starving and coming off alcohol. Every time I relapsed I went there because I knew they would give me another chance. You should go to groups but yes you can sleep if you’re tired. I remember the first time I went there. I was in serious alcohol withdrawal. I had the best sleep after being medicated. Their staff is great too. They saved my life. They wake you up for vitals early but you may need medication. They have punch in the tv room which I drank like no tomorrow. Snacks too. I’ve been there like 7 times and they always treat me great. I wish I could say my name but can’t. You will always get a second chance there

I was very happy to have learned of this establishment. Many insurances are accepted like Medicaid and Medicare, although certain counselors accept certain insurances. The scheduling coordinators are very friendly and work with you to receive the help you need. It is also worth noting that services are offered for kids and even toddlers, with referalls offered as well.

CHR's a great agency. They've helped me out for plenty of years. Great people there and encourage you to do the best. And you continue to do the best. They help you and encourage you to strive and go independent with your recovery. Great people there. And great people who go there. I can't complain about the quality of services. Because where I come from originally there weren't any of these services. I'm grateful to have CHR in my life. Always wanting it to learn new things. And advocate for these services to continue. And do activism with it as well. Do whatever it takes to keep our life and quality of life going. Great job CHR. Keep up the great work you have done. And continue to do. For our communities statewide. Let us be an example for this country, the United States, and the world.

I am very disappointed with this clinic. I have been visiting for 15 years and I am a patient and the treatment of patients is getting worse. From the moment you walk into reception to give your information, they treat you badly, they open their mouths and they no longer treat you kindly. Everyone knows your information. Why do you have to raise your voice because they are all talking about each other's lives? It is very disappointing. God willing, read this message so that you can go investigate that clinic. Thank you.

I went to this office for many years and they were always excellent! The only I stopped going there was because I moved far enough a closer office was better for me. I am quite shocked by many of the other comments, those comments just don’t describe the experiences I had there. The people here have absolutely horrid grammar. The only good thing about this place was the deck swap card in uno and the weetabix... unfortunately, King Jessica/Julian would limit my eating habits. In all seriousness, when I first got to Brattleboro I was extremely nervous from the reviews I saw online being majorly negative (which then became an ongoing joke between me, my peers, and the staff - hence the beginning). That being said, for me, I found my stay there to be helpful and a good life experience to know that there's always someone who'll be there, even if you don't know them. I had lots of fun and made friends I'm still in contact with today. The staff is wonderful and only wants to help you, but I know this could be very different for other people going in there. So if you're like me, reading reviews as you drive over, just know that the living there can be hard and sometimes the kitchen will forget you ordered a grilled cheese, but you're there to get help and the staff is there to give you help so if you're cooperative, going to groups, and working on improvement - you're undeniably going to get better. Yes, some of the reviews are right and it can be a little scary to watch people be restrained, but you need to focus on yourself there.

The staff were amazing, it was difficult with the forced isolation and strict rules but after a while I realized it was necessary. Forced quiet when I couldn’t quiet myself. Caring and compassionate I needed them and proud to say I’m an Ally (LGBTQIA+) One suggestion PLEASE ! Have everyone sign a release of info to their PCP right off on the day of discharge. Get the process started because it is a long and broken system to navigate and this will shorten it. It’s the patient who suffers from the 30 days plus process and the communication and paperwork that it takes for the two to talk to each other. It’s just one less thing we have to remember or concentrate on while trying to get back into the world again.

In the spirit of keeping it real and giving credit where it’s due: I’ve been in recovery for six years now, and SDC has given me my life back in ways I never thought possible. I walked through these doors with four years clean after working at Walmart, started as a tech, and found a purpose that hit deeper than any paycheck ever could. Helping clients fight their way back to themselves — being living proof that we do recover — has become the core of who I am. SDC isn’t perfect; no company is. But this place genuinely cares — about the clients, about the staff, about doing the work the right way. We’ve got supervisors who show up for us, support us, and remind us that our wellbeing matters, too. I feel lucky, grounded, and honestly grateful to be part of a team that actually walks the walk. Not to toot our own horn — but hey, sometimes the data speaks for itself — SDC is the cleanest detox I’ve ever stepped foot in, and I’ve been to over twenty across Massachusetts back when I was struggling. The food? Better than any detox I’ve ever been to. The compassion? On another level entirely. What I see here day in and day out is beyond policy and procedure — it’s heart, it’s integrity, it’s service. SDC has been a beacon for me: light, strength, and motivation when I needed it most. And I know I’m not the only one. Here’s to the work we do, the lives we help rebuild, and the community that keeps proving recovery is possible — one patient, one moment, one day at a time. Sincerely, Ryan Simpson - SDC Counselor (Previous positions - SDC Behavioral Tech & Admission's Counselor)

I highly and fully recommend to all who have been a domestic violence abuser, past or present, to partake in this vital & crucial program. If interested (and if not already court ordered), contact Maureen Casey here @ Spectrum to learn more about PAVE and other programs Spectrum has (specifically for anger management is one example). Mike & Faith administer the PAVE Program on a weekly basis. My group sessions are every Wednesday, from 430 to 630 pm for 40 weeks, start to finish. I wish all abusers the best of luck out there in getting the help we all so desperately need!
