I recommend this place to anyone who’s struggling and needs a place to go where they can take whatever steps they need to take to get better.
The staff are nice, they treat you well, it’s not a restrictive or lockdown kind of environment. I felt human being there. I’m beyond grateful for them and their compassion.

Before coming to AdCare, I tried treatment at other places, but nothing ever worked. It wasn't until I went through detox at AdCare Hospital and got unbelievable care and then moved into their virtual outpatient care and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that everything changed for me. It took me a few tries, but they never gave up on me—even when I had completely given up on myself.
I attended IOP with clinician Gladys, and she runs an absolutely unbelievable program. She taught me so much, gave me the tools i need to handle this disease, and never stopped believing in me. On top of that, I also have 1-on-1 counseling sessions with Gladys where I can really personalize my own recovery journey. It takes a very special kind of person to do this work, and Gladys is just an amazing human being. Graduating from her IOP was a huge moment for me.
Now, I’m in two virtual groups that keep me grounded: Mondays at 10:30 a.m. with Marline, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. with Elizabeth, the clinical manager. What amazing groups these are! Marline and Elizabeth are such incredible, compassionate people. They create a safe space for us without any judgment. They show what true compassion looks like every single day.
These groups remind me that I’m not alone. We all have the same disease, but we each have different stories that matter, and they always make sure we feel seen and heard. These outpatient groups are so important—they literally teach us how to live, laugh, and to forgive ourselves. AdCare holds such a high standard, and honestly, i think all of their clinicians are amazing.

I was skeptical about going for detox but did it anyways. I will recomend this place to anybody this place is great, From intake to discharge. Great Case managers shout out to Kim top notch, Great therapist, Brittney, Brianna, Heather, Jonathan, Sue Thanks for everything and listening and all the advice. Nurses, Techs, Janitors God bless. Overall, this is one of the nicest mental health facilities you can go to. The facility itself is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The staff and therapists truly care about their work and are generally very solid and helpful once you get to connect with them. However, the program isn't as intensive as some might need — I only saw my therapist twice in a two-week span, including intake.
Organizationally, things can sometimes fall through the cracks (like belongings, medication, and laundry). Your experience will also heavily depend on the other residents, which can be a wild card. Despite a few operational hiccups, the caring nature of the staff and the quality of the environment make it a solid choice for treatment.

I've been at Merrick Street for nearly a year, and my experince has been truly amazing. Spectrum staff members are caring, well-educated and passionate about helping each client on an individual basis. The level of care far exceeds that of other programs. I started my 'journey' at Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, and (apart from my clinician -- who was amazing!), it felt like conveyor-belt-style care. Now, that was a 2-hour round-trip commute every morning, but Information about Spectrum (20 minutes away) was hidden from me (despite my inquiries) for months because it was a separate organization and they likely didn't want to lose me as a paycheck -- I mean patient.
Spectrum is the total opposite. It has changed my life. I wasted years fearing a program, and the stigma attached. But I realized-- since I was already dealing with the stigma of having fibromyalgia and chronic pain, it made no difference, and I needed to try -- for me. Since entering, I have met so many incredible people, shared and heard many incredible stories, and in a way, I am proud to be part of something so positive.

Alright the staff is absolutely amazing, Sara the case manager helped me clear warrants and get into a sober house,. The other Sara the clinical director was extremely pleasant and has an open door policy which is really nice. Emily the nurse is another one that went above and beyond for me for my medications. The facility is nice, tv in the room, separate male and female tv lounges then a big one that’s for both. The food was great. The smoke breaks kinda suck, 7 a day last one is 8pm. The medical part really sucks, there blanket protocols so someone that used once gets the same protocol as someone using for years, it was ruff, you don’t get to talk to a dr ever. There famous for denying you any narcotics your prescribed either so keep that in mind. If it wasn’t for the medical aspect it would be 5 stars for sure.

My son went to treatment here and I can’t say enough about how supportive they were of him. We had tried so many different places and this was the first one that he actually was engaged in because they were invested in him. His clinician scheduled weekly check ins to know how he was doing and answer any questions I had.

Great place to get sober. They had the best staff helping me to receive comprehensive care. I ended up staying with them 7months, I found it that helpful. Definitely not my first program, but they stand out from the rest. Perfect place for aftercare for people who have detoxed or done residential treatment. They work well with various sober living houses. They are also very flexible with the different levels of care that they offer.

Evolve was such a good experience for me. I was there for 2 weeks and left finally feeling like I got the help I was looking for. What they couldn't help with they set me up and made sure I was prepared for when I left. This institution is affiliated with Harvard and one of the best in the entire nation. I was at the Betty Ford before this, and it was absolute garbage in comparison, both in quality of care and quality of the property.
Every single staff member at fernside absolutely cares about patients and the staff outnumber and patients - which is extremely rare. Betty Ford was something like four patients per staff member. Here there’s typically 3MD’s, 3-4 nurses, multiple therapists, and an amazing private chef.
At fernside you have industry leading experts with resources directly from Harvard meeting as a team to diagnose, underlying health conditions, and treat various addictions. You meet with them all individually multiple times per week and they speak with each other to discuss mental health, medications, etc. It’s like the show house. They have the time to do so because there are typically 4-6 patients and a maximum of 9. If you want a full breakdown and evaluation with individualized care, this is the place for you.
I cannot say enough, kind things about this place; The only con is that it is $70,000 a month and they do not accept insurance.

I’ve been to many treatment centers and I was nervous to try a new program and I’m glad I chose to try Blue Hills Recovery. There are not many programs that have both clinical and housing and to have this option and opportunity stepping down from a residential facility was extremely helpful and necessary. From the BHTs at housing to the group facilitators, therapists, program director, and clinical director at clinical were extremely empathetic, compassionate, and helpful. Each provider I’ve encountered has been professional, compassionate, and delivered overall excellent care during some of my hardest moments.
