Outside of that the groups are excellent the facilitators truely care, and the people who are the ones that really make the groups they are great. I thibk due to the telahealth aspect people are more willing to dig into there traumas and passed. I can only hope they 1 day accept medicaid again not only for me but all the other addicts and alcoholics who cant afford insurance to 1 day be able to receive treatment in the same manor I did. They actually care about you and your recovery. Touching base and keeping you healthy physically and mentally. Not only do the staff care about you they always have smiles on their faces and make you laugh and feel welcome. I completed this program after my 12 weeks and still show up when i can to do the recovery based workout and yoga/meditation. That is one of the many perks of this program. It is very unique in that instead of a 3 hrs group which would bore me to tears it is broken up int0 1 hrs of crossfire type exercise, 1 hrs of meditation and yoga, and 1 hrs of group with 1 day of a one on one session with a councilor. After a a terrible two months in the hospital, my dad had weakened his swallow muscles and couldn’t eat or drink. He had a stomach feeding tube when he entered the rehab facility. He wasn’t walking independently but Amanda Burkart, the speech pathologist at Christian health brought so much energy, positivity and consistency in her care that my dad started eating and drinking and passed his swallow test. The nurse and care staff: Jetta, Nancy, Akina and Marwa were all so attentive and caring. I also appreciated Trisha who helped me manage all the follow up appointments for my dad. Overall, I had a positive experience and appreciated the opportunity to learn in different hospital departments. Some internships were not the right fit for my interests, including Surgical Services, the Gift Shop, and Endoscopy. My experience with the Overlook Foundation was mixed. However, I especially enjoyed my internships in Pastoral Care, Nursing Education, Human Resources, Pre-Admission, and Nursing Administration. I found the departments I enjoyed to be meaningful learning experiences, and I appreciated the chance to build workplace skills in a hospital setting. It took time for me to become comfortable socially in the program, but I later formed positive connections with other participants. I am giving 4 stars because the program offered valuable hands-on experience and several strong internship opportunities, although better matching of internships to each student’s career interests would make the experience even better. Every single person I interacted with was exceptionally kind. At the last minute as I was getting ready to go back, a medical need that I had failed to mention came up. His nurse Ashleigh was an angel in Hokas. She was so attentive to my father and was also an amazing advocate for his care. The level of trust Ashleigh instilled in us was priceless while navigating my father’s death. Ashleigh was so in tuned to my dad and able to “treat” him so appropriately in his final days. Ashleigh gave us a safe place to ask questions, share observations, and participate in his care. while her expertise supported my father in his last moments, she also was regularly checking in with us to make sure we were well supported during this difficult time. I need a higher level of treatment but I will be going to Outpatient there after.. I can't recommend this place enough.
