I've never dealt with a VA hospital before, and so didn't know what to expect when my father started using their services. I have to say that we have been extremely pleased with what we've experienced.In addition to the very satisfactory medical care he received, another thing that was impressive was the respect with which they treat the veterans. I saw this not only with my father, but with others who I saw in the halls during our visits to their ER and other offices. You could tell that the care they gave sprung from appreciation for their service.Both the doctors and the nurses were always there for us when we needed them. They both made house calls and the nurses were there for us 24/7-- even for emergency house calls in the wee hours of the night/morning.Everything we experienced in our years of interactions with the VA left me with a feeling that socialized medicine could indeed work if done properly. That's not meant to be a political statement, but just an observation of truly good service coming from a government-run agency.My dad recently passed away, so I really want to thank the Northport VA for their service to him. It made a big difference to him and those of us caring for him. I don't know what we would have done without them.

Going to south oaks was better than I could have expected. The counselors, staff, nurses, doctors, were all great. They helped me set up a plan for my recovery. I was fed way better than I could have expected. I'm really grateful to have made the decision to go and get some help for myself. Its sad to see all the negative reviews. Maybe cause they were by patients that aren't ready to get well yet. I'm blessed to have gone and would recommend going to anyone that is ready for a reset to get better

Was here at South Oaks back in 2018 the unit was Coed a girl who was on the ward with me recently passed away due to a drug overdose..She should of never been discharged. South Oaks is a great hospital they prepare a discharge plan get you into outpatient treatment. It's up to each person we control our lives and destiny. We ate well had plenty of toiletries.We pretty much could do what we want sleep all day lounge around too bad we can't go for a mini vacation .

A Lifesaving Experience for My Son s Broken Arm Exceptional Pediatric ER & Ortho Team!After a terrible experience at another hospital (Cohen LIJ), where the ER team failed us and no one followed up, we were referred to Nassau University Medical Center by our orthopedic specialist. From the moment we arrived, the care was "night-and-day different".Pediatric ER: The wait time was shockingly short, and the team was incredibly kind. My son, Tristan, was seen immediately, and 4-5 different nurses checked on him regularly, making sure he was comfortable. A compassionate Haitian doctor (I wish I got his name!) was thorough and reassuring.Emergency Surgery: We were admitted for an urgent wrist surgery due to a broken bone. The resident orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Omar Saleem (Precision Orthopedics - 161 Willis Ave Mineola), was outstanding. He took the time to explain the procedure in detail, answered all our questions with patience, and treated Tristan with so much empathy. The surgery went smoothly, and I felt confident in his expertise.Post-Op & Discharge: After a 3-hour wait (expected for emergency cases), RN Jin Young Lee handled our discharge with exceptional care. She reviewed all instructions clearly, ensured we understood follow-up care, and was genuinely kind.Hospital Environment: Yes, the building is older, but it s well-kept, clean, and organized. Even the restrooms were neat something I don t take for granted in busy hospitals!I m truly saddened by the negative reviews because our experience was flawless in a high-stress situation. Best program I ever been too the houses are clean the counselors are awesome Vicky ,Linda, Alyssa, mark and so many others are so welcoming in my recovery I want to thank them for getting me back on my feet and ready to face life again

I was there approximately 10 year's ago and when i got there ,I had to get used to being there. But turned out that in a month, I started washing pot's in the kitchen to being the head cook at this facility. My time was most spent in the women's building where the main kitchen is located. This program is good for those who want it for themselves. The staff and residents loved the way I cooked. About 150 residents.

At the age of 21 I was lost and hopeless. Ran with the wrong crowd and had a substance abuse problem. Liberation House was the turning point for me. I entered in the spring of 1974 and graduated in 1976 with a baby girl (a first at Lib House 9/10/1974). I was given the opportunity to completed my education, got a GED, and went on to National Academy of hairdressing. I m still in touch with a few of my comrades. I ve gone n to have a successful life, one day at a time.

I have found a great therapist and nurse practitioner in Chris and Siji. They are friendly and truly care about my progress. Together we have explored TREATMENT plans ..... giving me the discipline to tackle my BIPOLAR and ALCOHOLIC issues. Excellent rehab Hospital. I came here to rehab after my back surgery. Very professional! The PT and OT sessions really got me back on my feet. I had 3 hours a day while under the care of doctors and nurses. Everyone is very nice and cared about my welfare. I saw many hospital administrators who wanted to make sure I was happy with my rehab. Social worker was awesome. I even saw the VP of rehab medicine who I felt, was genuinely concerned for my comfort. I cannot say enough good things about this Rehab facility. The whole Catholic Health group is fabulous. The employees are to be happy working here. Even the food is great. I would definitely recommend this facility.

I truly am shocked that this facility has only 3 stars! I got my mother here from Good Sam hospital. This facility's staff are AMAZING! From security at the front desk to the 4th floor nurses, nurses aids and physical and occupational therapists, we could not be happier! Even the kind ladies in the gift shop! The compassion, kindness and cleanliness of this inpatient rehab center is the best I have ever seen at any inpatient facility. After everything we went thru over the past few weeks with my mother, this is the first time I can leave her at night and feel completely confident she will not lack great care in my absence. And that means so much!
